with the transferring of KUL - HKG to Dragonair, how does this affect OW redemption for MH ya? Cos all flights outwards will need to transit at HKG.. Does it mean if i want to get to say LAX, i need to redeem multicarrier OW award instead of a single carrier OW award?

This sucks cos multicarrier cost so much more...

Sad to hear CX retreating from KL, we will be left with only second-tier and low-cost airlines soon.

On a brighter note, I've just completed a redemption for travel in November featuring SQ Suites (SIN-BOM), QR 787 J (DEL-DOH) and QR A380 F (DOH-BKK). I'm trying to redeem AI F for BOM-DEL but no luck yet. Hopeful to try out 3 first class seats in one trip.

My CX F trip to JFK has been pushed to January next year. Thank goodness KUL-HKG will still be on CX J.

I'm afraid that will be the case, unless MAS allows for CX code share on KA flights.

is there any credit card that have good redemption rates for Asia Miles?
Currently am using MBB 2cPremier. But i do have quite a substantial amount of transaction every month on utilities & gov dept transaction. For these transaction, MBB only giving 1 or 0 points per RM spend.

Currently charging utilities and gov spending (anything less than 2x points on MBB) to HLB Mach Sig. However, it only transfer to EM which i plan to stop already considering the devaluation of miles every other week...

my main concern with krisflyer is most of the awards are on waitlist and they charge YQ which is like crazy exp after conversion to MYR.

best alternative i believe still Krisflyer AMEX, 0.5 Mile for RM1 or 1 Mile for RM1 if you spent more than 60k per year. I find that SIA have some interesting redemption ex. first class suite to HKG.

the other options are really sad, ex HLB Mach Sig. 1 Mile for Rm3 Spent

Citibank Premier Miles has more options (airlines) but goes for 1 Mile per RM 4.5 spent

HLB is the 2nd best alternative to non-premier cards... alliance VI gives 1 mile = RM 2.80 spend.
Problem with these cards is that it's only valid for transfer to Enrich..

Citibank exchange is rather high...

Huh? I thought for Alliance VI, every RM1 spent locally will be rewarded with 2x and every RM1 spent overseas will be rewarded with 5x. You will need 6,000 Time Bonus Points for 1,000 Enrich Miles (or 2,000 AirAsia BIG Points). Refer to https://www.alliancebank.com.my/VisaInfinite

But you are definitely right in regards to the limitation of Alliance VI. They only allow transfer to Enrich Miles or AirAsia BIG Points.

Anyway, i thought the MBB Amex 2 Cards is still the highest yield in term of FFP Miles whereby you only need 10,600 TreatsPoints (RM 2,120 spent ) to redeem 1,000 Enrich Miles? So every RM2.12 spent with this card can get you 1 Enrich Miles. Refer to the last page of http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/TPoints-Redemption-2.pdf

This card is good indeed as it still earn us 0.5point for every rm1 spent on petrol right? however any possible for them to waived annual fees?

SQ first class suite to HKG is very affordable and cost lesser than MH Business

Singapore – Hong Kong – Singapore / SQ860 (31,875 Krisflyer Miles + SGD 34) – SQ863 (31,875 Krisflyer Miles + HKD 330) / 3.5 hours flight

And if you spent more than 60k per annum, you get bonus 30k miles thus 1 point for every RM1 spent.

erm guys.. anyone familiar with transit rules for MH OW redemption?

I was on the line with customer service just now for a flight plan. The flight supposed to reach HKG at about 9pm at night. As there are no more flights out of HKG to KUL (last flight 8.30pm), the only way is to take the HKG - KUL flight the next day at 12pm. Customer service told me that this is considered a stopover hence will be issued separate ticket.

I recall that as long i depart within 24 hours of arriving, it's considered a transit right? Any where i can get the T&C on this? This is because having my ticket as a transit means i only need about 72k miles as compared to 99k miles if it's a stopover.

normally if the connection is less than 24 hrs, it is considered a transit....but the problem is, you are using one airline to book with another airline, and the rules may vary between airlines....

i notice mh normally only show connections within 12 hrs when you attempt to book on their website....whereas others like sq will also show connections up to 24 hrs...so it may be a mh thing...

Check out the American Express cards ie. the ones not having the Maybank brand. Most people in Malaysia don't even know these exist biggrin.gif

They used to provide 2-5x Membership Rewards per RM spent, not ideal since it's RM3k-6k per 1k miles but they do transfer to Asia Miles (and Etihad/Krisflyer/etc)
