i checked too, yes... with 5.1, it still says "it is latest", do nothing.

i think those with 6.0.1 were done earlier before the fiasco.

the prompt is probably auto generated, but here, there is nothing newer than 5.1 online.

Oh i see.  Btw i have kodi but when it auto updates to Krypton, i cannot watch movie from HDD, anymore, don't know how to do the setup to watch HDD. Can master teach me??

when u launch kodi, u see movies, addons, fav on the left.

select movies, the hdd will show up there.

give it a few seconds to detect.

hot mount or cold mount.
but know this... the usb reader on this tv is sensitive to certain brands and formats of hdd's - some will not work properly.

Hmmm, i just remember that day i was tweaking this and that to try to access HDD but accidently deleted the "movies". How to get it back? 

I mean "movies" on the left column (Movies, tv shows, music, etc), has been removed from the main menu

just go to settings, skin settings, main menu... activate "movies".

a separate box surely does a lot more, esp playback the highest quality files for home theater.

however... tv with google androidtv has its advantages!

i have a few android devices of diff versions... to try diff things, diff apps, see what works best with what..

been trying a few things since a sibling is looking for a new tv.

here's what i found lately:

.. iflix works on most of my devices, incl the 4k tv.
.. hypp everywhere... does not work on some devices but works good on the 4k tv.
.. astro-on-the-go does not work on most of my devices but work good on the 4k tv.
(aotg needs a rotation lock app active to keep it landscape.)
(all 3 needs a combination of remote and mouse to navigate properly.)

the one u hv on the tv if installed from tv playstore would have been updated to 17.1.

to revert to 16.1:

.. uninstall kodi at settings... do not clear data.
.. find 16.1 manually on pc or if u hv it somewhere.

.. sideload this 16.1 apk with es file explorer (i assume u already hv this and know how to sideload.)
.. the 17.1 data u hv may experience issues with 16.1. if so, u need to remove everything, reinstall 16.1 and build it again.

Err.. Uninstalling typically clears data and cache too... Different on this TV?

😋 need android box for high quality audio output actually I don't like my current output no oomph...hehe I try the Astro on the go too 😋 apkpure is my fav always...so from the above explanation is we need both tv and box together😋...

It all depends on what files u playback, what apps u use and what box u buy.

If playback basic small low or medium quality files, no diff if played on even the most expensive box.

If using basic apps, the tv android is as good as those rm300 boxes.

If u playback or stream 20, 40, 66gb 1080p, 4k, hd audio files, ya, get a box... rm600 or 1k or 1.5k.

Hmmm, i don't have es file explorer... oh well don't want to take risk and create different problem... better stick with 17.1 and learn to navigate again haha   Now i prefer to use VLC player just to play movie
