While we were talking about UOB charging different fee for BC few days back, I sent an email to UOB to inquire what is the actual fee for pure FD upliftment and today I received a reply:
which is consistent with the penang branch.
QUOTE
We wish to share with you the fees are as below:
Cheque processing fee -  RM0.50 + RM0.03(gst)
Stamp duty RM0.15
We hope the above clarifies.

I am going to show the print out of the email to the branch manager at my place as she has been insisting that the fee is RN2.xx all this while
*
I cant believe it. I received a call from UOB CS now telling me that the info above provided by their CS through a black and white channel is wrong! and RM2.80 is the correct fee.

Too bad for you. I just placed the 4.3% FD 2 days ago and the fund originated from my SA. You should have place the withdrawn amount temporarily in another bank.

Fresh fund is defined by most banks money coming in from orher banks. That is the purpose of banks provide promote rate. If you withdrew FD and placed in the same bank but different account. No matter how long it is still not considered as not fresh fund as it is not from other bank.

However some banks, some officers some mgt level can waive that on the day of maturity with some top up or even the fund was in the bank for sometimes. Some members have that experience and I have done that with HL and public.

this is probably not the most appropriate thread (but also likely most knowledgeable since the people here spend a lot of time hunting for best fd deals smile.gif )

but does anyone know the best accounts to park temporary funds? currently i am using cimb money multiplier (2.5% but min balance 10k). back about 5 years ago, eon bank has an interest bearing current account which pays almost 1 month fd rates but too bad no more after being taken over by HLB.

I shoot him back how can a CS gives a wrong info. But now I realized that maybe the one that called me was talking about normal cashier order, while the email is for cashier order with FD upliftment. I will check with them again.

how temporary is temporary?

you need to fund, say, in next 6 months? if not, perhaps HLB's 6mth @ 4.50% p.a. FD is best for you.

if you need the fund is shorter terms, suggest you roll it into eFD instead.

Ambank Truesavers 2.8%. No minimum amount required. No minimum topup required. No Rm8+ charge. Free IBG. Interest is calculated daily.

No IBFT, max 3x withdrawal/online transfer. Hope this help.

If you are looking to park your money for 1 month duration and you have less than rm5k, you can use Ambank Islamic eFD 3.15%. Min rm1k

Same with what I encountered with HLB when wanna open saving account. I dont want atm card because I only need saving account just for FD placement.

Well.. HLB not the only bank around, I just put else where..

just to add, i am maintaining a savings account with HLB, without a debit card. i cancelled the debit card about 1.5 years ago when it stopped being my salary account.

just managing the account via online.

EDIT: i realised in your case you are referring to new account opening. which in my case is not the same as yours

anyway, you can always request for basic savings account which doesn't charge the RM8 but limits your withdrawal frequency to 4 times or something. can refer to HLB website.
