The close to bexel less display is really attractive
With Mate S at rm 2.6+k, I believed this phone will hit close to rm3k when available here!!

Of all the 6 inches phone I had used past 2 years the Mate7 remains one of my favorite besides the OPPO R7+. I would still highly recommend the Mate7 to those looking for a 6 inch display phone

The price is quite okay if order from this website. Should I order it? But warranty part will be a hassle though, since you'll have to ship it back to them.

Don't really believe the bezel when it came to press photo by huawei (huawei P8 is an example) and looking at direct conversion it would be around 2k if it reaches our shores.

Mate 8 during announcement already show price cheaper than Mate S.

The basic 32GB edition after convert shall be around RM 2K.

This phone won't be bezeless, Huawei always alter the photo, in reality it won't.

QUOTE
CNY2,999 (approx. RM1,969) for the 3GB+32GB version, the 4GB+64GB version is retailed at CNY3,699 (approx. RM2,429) and the 4GB+128GB model costs CNY4,399 (approx. RM2,889).

Price updated:

Huawei Mate 8 NXT-TL00: RMB 2,999

Huawei Mate 8 NXT-DL00: RMB 2,999

Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 + 3GB RAM: RMB 3,199

Huawei Mate 8 64GB ROM: RMB 3,699

Huawei Mate 8 128GB ROM: RMB 4,399

IMHO, the RMB 2,999 model wont arrive in Msia because only compatible with local carriers.

Yes my experience with HW Mate 6.1 n Mate7 has been very good. Till now I would still highly recommend Mate7 as one of the best 6 incher I had used. The other is Oppo R7+. Valuebasket is very reliable trustworthy site n offer 2 year warranty too.

Above is a good site to read user review of the phone
As in any phone there are bound to be both positive n negative comments. I read these for info only n will never allow these comments to affect my buying decision

For me,if Huawei Malaysia can improve their frequency of updates just like China or Europe set than this will be a very good flagship phone...

Very true. That is why I always flash the latest Euro versions on all my previous HW phones. Those Euro/China sets could have 5-6 updates already while the M'sian version usually stays the same or at most only one update

P8max I used mainly to read ebook n watch movies. It had basically replaced my ipad mini3 which now lying idle several months already
I will decide whether to use the Mate8 or LG V10 as main phone.

1 million units sold in first month ?

Based on CES 2016 hands on it definitely seems like a refined nexus 6, SLEEK!

If it's not for the HiFi on V10, I am really tempted to try this out.

There are 4 different version of China set for Mate 8.

網通版 (4G)=AL10、移動版=TL00、聯通版 (WCCDMA) =DL00、電信版=CL00

The one you should buy is the version 網通版 (4G)=AL10. You can also go for 聯通版 (WCCDMA) =DL00, however, it only have 3G.

As for the international set, there are 2 version. Details was attached below.

The one you should buy is the version 網通版 (4G)=AL10. You can also go for 聯通版 (WCCDMA) =DL00, however, it only have 3G.
As for the international set, there are 2 version. Details was attached below.

Mate 8 is only phone that has widest support of all major bands in the world
Msian bands are common n so no worry
You can check their LTE band support n Msian bands are listed
I had no idea what model i am getting as not specified. I will only be recieving the phone next week
As valuebasket is Spore site i am sure they will bring in only compatible set. I can always return n get a refund if it is incompatible
They give a 2 year warranty coverage too

Yea. Will ask fren to get the NXT-AL10 since it has the widest bands coverage including our fdd-lte band 3 and 7. But based on your experience, huawei china unit has more frequent firmware update than international unit right?

But goodluck lah, since i had bad experience with valuebasket in buying my smartwatch previously.

Yes BUT I will change it to Euro firmware as it has less bloatware vs China. M'sian units is always the worst - this is based on my experience using Mate 6.1, X1, Mate7. While China and Euro has up to 5-6 firmware updates, M'sian versions usually the most stay at one update. I always change my Msian sets to Euro firmware

What was your bad experience with valuebasket ?
My previous purchase from them for the LG V10 was good. All email replied by next day. Only delivery was delayed but they do keep me updated

Mate8 presentation at CES 2016. HW should get a proper well speaking English presenter instead of him

You would need to import or buy online for now.

Or you could wait until next month, cuz Huawei will most likely launch it here next month.

Wonder how much will be the price for the official Malaysian unit? If it's same price as Mate S RM 2698 (logically Mate S should receive a price drop that time), then it would be worth it.

Actually I am also facing the problem with P8 Max. I got two version, one is china version and the other is international version. Both same problem. The only other way is to run the application on the background, then all message come in will have immediate notification. If you kill the apps, you will only get those message when the start the app.

I have read xda and all other forum, apparently the culprit is Huawei phone manager app which have too tight security. Many said that the problem will be solved once you remove this app. As this is default app, the only way to remove it is to root your phone which I am not ready to do that yet. I am currently leaving the apps running on background and so far so good.

Strange is that this did not happen when i previously use Mediapad X1 and Mate 7 running kitkat. Only recently when update to lollipop, this happen. Even my other G7 also have no such issue but running kitkat.

Update: There seem to be update for Whatapp and it seem that its fixed for my international version of P8 max. It is now working even when the apps is not running at background rclxms.gif . But the China version is still facing the same problem rclxub.gif

I recently got Mediapad M2 and I have just tested, No issue for this as well running lollipop. rclxms.gif

Why do you need root to disable system app? Just use package disabler to remove whatever bloatapps. It's easy to use and its without root. That's the best part yet.

Those who like SuperAmoled of Samsung will not like the LCD type display
It boils down to one taste
I had used all the Samsung Galaxy series till S6E and Note series till Note 5 : Sadly but truly I had never like Samsung Amoleds as I still find their colors as too bright, fake and over saturated

It's RGBW screen.. So to me its really is beautiful.. The contrast are there but without the extra saturation.. Hard to tell in words.. Have to see to appreciate.. Body size also is nice and the front wrap around screen (like mate s) really made it beautiful..

This valuebasket site kept delaying the delivery. My previous purchase of the V10 the delay was more than 2 weeks. Today i emailed them if they failed to sent this week i will just cancel the order.
Dont really understand how they managed their delivery system. Read on the web it is the biggest complain about them.

Does the 32gb ROM + 3gb RAM version worth it?
The only difference is only ram and rom. The rest seems the same.

The DHL site stated delivery will reach me end of the day on this Friday
Just checked n it just arrived Spore this morning
Well I do hope I can get it before CNY
Previous V10 they declared n undervalue it as digital camera n Sirim/GST avoided. Hopefully they will do the same for this Mate8

not good in doing review like you do mah, uncle benny. lol.

anyway, had the phone for like 2-3weeks. been busy during this time because my wife just delivered her 1st baby. however, the mate8 phone build is as great as other Huawei flagships. it is snappy without lag. i had some minor issue with whatsapp though, broken whatsapp notification on older firmware, but i had OTA update to B156 firmware and all are fixed. quite a lot built in customisation even without root. i like the part how u can manage your apps wakelock during off screen time to save your battery consumption, or is this a new feature in mashmallow? battery life is pretty good for a person who came from Note4. Camera wise, its pretty sharp, although i do notice the AF speed is a bit behind Note4, but can be accepted by me since i have my mirrorless and dslr for serious photography tasks. biggrin.gif

Different opinion on the web from excellent to above average
Haven't test it yet
Will give my opinion later. Am sure it would not be able to match my other LG V10 which is really best camera I had experienced amongst all high end Androids
I would be happy if it is equivalent to say Note5 or S6E which few sites did said it does
Now updating firmware from b116 to b156 , a 774mb download

Not that many, about 10 which I can easily disable them at settings. Some can be uninstalled too
Will only do a cleanup after firmware update
I don't seem to have any notifications issues - whatsapp n email received without any problems when phone was idle. Anyway only some users are reporting such problems only

Eagerly awaiting your review ..heheh

My past experience with Huawei phones are notificaitions when they work...work extremelly well..when they don't then ...well then you have the issue where you have to open up the app to get the notifications....hope this will be fixed. I had issues with Line, whatsapp and email...periodically ..not all the time - which frustrates me... mad.gif

If the camera is as good as note 5 , then rclxms.gif

Tested Action3 n Nova launcher but noted upon reboot the Widgets took long long time to appear back
Probably is Marshmallow bug as never faced such issues on previous HW phones
Anyway now I revert back to stock emui n this time HW had improved it as allocating app to folder was simply easier - no more dragging n just tap + n select app accordingly

Battery life had been simply in one word amazingly good!!
Based on my usage mix of wifi n LTE on mainly internet based stuffs ( browsing, RSS, tweeter, facebook, mail, news feed, youtubes) n plenty whatsapp (50+ a day), some calls, audio I could easily record at least 9-10 hours SOT. With only wifi on I projected it could go up to 12 hours !!
Is overall even much better than previous Mate7
The battery app function is very useful n I basically turn off all background auto load app except for whatsapp n maildroid

I guess this is the first time ever I am tempted to go away from Nexus after a long time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqt6cJnbggk

It was all about the battery mang. I would buy this device solely just because of its battery.

But 64GB 4GB ram punya kinda mahal smpai mcm kena buat installment hahahaha!

Anyone knows when the official set is coming in?

Depend on how seller declared it. Both my V10 n this Mate 8 was declared as digital camera with value I remember about us100+
So both phones delivered to me directly and I need not pay any GST or apply sirim permit
If custom hold it is quite easy to apply sirim - I have posted a guide on Nexus6 thread page1 on how to do it. GST of 6% you can pay directly to courier company
Don't ever allow courier to apply sirim as they usually charge another expensive service fee of rm200-300 on top of the rm100 for sirim permit. Just do yourself all online

Other users here n there are already few of us already could advise you on their assessment
Till now I am very happy with the speaker volume quality..even at maximum there is no "cracking" effect as in Nexus 6P. Phone calls are crystal clear n is one of the best amongst all the phones I had used.
You shouldn't let one poor review affect your opinion . Try reading more reviews and plenty of sites now on such review.

Reading GSMArena's review is better than reading PhoneArena's review.

PhoneArena's reviews suck banana balls, all are biased to Apple.

Just do yourself all online

alright...lets hope spemall is smart on avoid tax. biggrin.gif

Haha.but gsmarena quality not so good for reviews. I never read/watch PhoneArena one. Another Pro Apple site is BGR and TheVerge.

I usually stick to non-company ones, like MKBHD, SomeGadgetGuy, QBKing77, etc.
But usually their device review is limited to popular ones/selected ones.

As for companies one, Android Authority(only if by Josh), TechnoBuffalo(only if by Jon) and Pocketnow(only if by michael fisher).

Oh and Anandtech(anyone is fine) hahahahaha.

I don't select or unselect any web reviews
Every reviewer view the product differently
Eg on camera evaluations, audio quality these are subjective
I will just take note of all their comments
As i am using the phone the best reviewer is myself for myself and my opinion could be different from another user!
To date only issues that slightly bug me is inability to install more font types n slow refresh of widgets on 3rd party launchers.
There is no perfect 10/10 phone yet. Every phone will sure has some weakness

I am happy with overall performance, app load speed, camera, display, audio quality, smoothness, battery life
Some reviewers criticize the default UI with no app drawers while some like it n said is a big improvement over previous versions. For me the default UI is perfectly fine with me though i do miss Nova extra features. The slow refresh of widgets on Nova makes me to choose back default UI.

Finally some official news about it, been waiting it for a long time.

What I'm pissed off is that they're still not teasing the Mate 8, but instead keep advertising the Mate S.

I guess for the 4gb ram/64gb should be around rm2k.4-2.6k. I don't think HW can ask for higher pricing as many buyers has still little faith n confidence in the brand
I had used before Mate 6.1, X1, Mate 7 n now having P8max n Mate 8 - all these are good phones though they had some minor cons. There is no perfect 10/10 phone yet

It's Huawei, they will MAKE IT POSSIBLE. Remember the Mate S? The price is retarded until now, many people expected the price to be way lower lol.

My guess would be around RM 2799 - RM 2899 for the Mate 8 64GB. Therefore, our weakening currency would definitely affect the pricing.

thanks Sir, if 64gb up for sale at 2.4k, i dont mind waiting for the warranty local Hw may provide.

i have tried using P8 and it is somehow above my expectation on Hw phone...my bad that probably because of it pretty china name, previously i didnt tend to have any interest on its products tongue.gif

If Huawei chooses to go with that kind of price, then it would suffer the same fate as BlackBerry Priv.

Unless, RM 3099 for 128GB then it's okay lah. tongue.gif

Just hope HW doesn't limit it to the 3gb ram/32 gb version only
In Nexus 6p they officially brought in only the 64gb leaving out the 32gb and 128gb models

The Champagne Gold and Mocha Brown colors are only available for the 64GB and 128GB variants right?

Since Huawei has confirmed that all four colors will be available here, I guess it's safe to say that they will bring in 32GB and 64GB variants?

guys, please refer to the link below on Huawei phones selling in China on RRP prices.

http://www.vmall.com/list-36

Huawei Mate 8 is priced cheaper than Mate S in China, Mate 8 64GB at RMB3699 and Mate S 64GB at RMB4199.
With current currency conversion rate, i bought my Mate 8 directly from China at RM2.4k. So i am no surprise if Mate 8 is launch officially at that price here. But i still insist on buying the NXT-AL10 unit which is the China domestic unit because traditionally, China Huawei unit has more frequent and earlier OTA on its firmware update compare to their international units such as Mate7, P8 series and X2. Even most of the developers in XDA forum are working on China units, same goes to Mate 8. smile.gif

Gouki - Very true . Based on my experience using all the HW phones except P8max ( china set) the firmware updates for Msian models is horribly very slow. While China n Euro sets gets 5-6 firmware updates, one is lucky Msian set gets even one update !! So I always flash euro firmware on my ex HW phones

Email mobile@huawei.com giving them your phone details : Just a simple line to request unlock code

IMEI - first imei is enough
Serial Number
Product ID : To get this - Bring up the dialer and enter the characters below. An 8-digit ID will then be displayed.
*#*#1357946#*#*

You might need to remind them few times to respond to your request for unlock code
You can write email in English

BTW OLD news from Android Central - firmware B156 has already incorporated this Feb 1 security patch

What's the matter with FHD display? I don't see iPhone users complaining about their FHD display.

I would take that awesome battery life over QHD display any day.

Seriously I don't see any problem at all with the 1080p display vs the 2k on my other V10 n Nexus 6P
You need to view yourself to have a better judgement

I prefer pay premium price with QHD display. I can buy lower price FHD display device like Xiaomi, Asus and midrange samsung.

Why i need to pay more for FHD display device? it is not about user experience, it is about how much you need to pay for one device.

If that's the case, then no one would buy iPhones from u.

And you'll be surprised to see that how many people have paid premium price for FHD devices like Xperia Z5, R7 Plus, iPhone 6S+.

nah, it is not effecting my Iphone sale. i'm selling for Apple Fanboy only that dont really care about the specification and dont really care about android.

As android fan and not a fanboy on single brand, i really care about the hardware and money that phone maker offer. icon_rolleyes.gif

All above is my opinion. let say this device selling around rm3k. if compare with another QHD device, is it worth to buy? with 6" display, u can see clear the different between FHD and QHD.

if QHD is your main concern, i guess its not worth it.

Most people are attracted to this phone cuz of its battery life/capacity >> like me who never touched Huawei phones before. Others are bonus.

I would prefer if my Nexus 6 have FHD display for better battery life.

Battery life? Samsung note 5 proved that samsung dont need bigger battery for better batery life. Note 5 have 3000mah battery with QHD display, the SOT average around 4-5hours. 4-5hours SOT already good for normal user.

OnePlus One with 3200mah and FHD have same SOT 4-5hours. Not signficant better battery life compare with Note 5.

So it depend what chip they use and how they optimize their software.

You can't compare note5's exynos 7420 which was on 14nm process vs one plus one which is s801 with 28nm process. That is already an unfair fight.

Mate8's kirin 950 is on 16nm process and definitely will be more efficient. Coupled with FHD screen, the mate8 battery life is actually better than Note5. Users claimed to get 7hours SOT.

Remember, Mate 8 can get up to 7-8 hours of SOT with average usage. It shows how good is Huawei's optimization. Plus, Kirin 950 is also a power efficient chipset.

For example, the old Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro with Snapdragon 801 and 4000mAh battery can't even get to that level of battery life.

well 4-5hours SOT might not be enough for you but not for everyone who uses phone heavily. Mate8 emphasizes on battery life. Some might think huawei cutting cost for not using QHD screen but FHD on 6inch screen is actually sufficient and the PPI is not really low to begin with.

The reason you see that the note5 screen more awesome is due to the amoled display being used instead of LCD. Amoled colors tend to be more vibrant.

If you wana pay premium price why settle for QHD? go for 4k rolleyes.gif

Not sure where is the extra 20min extra, it's 20hours extra bro, almost an additional 1day standby

Talktime both scores about the same, but the web browsing really tells the whole story. Web display tends to use more white display hence the amoled usually suffer at this point. With the QHD display on the note 5, each of the pixels need to be lighted up to display white. There are more than 1.5 times the pixels to display in QHD than FHD.

Another point is that not all SOC are able to get decent performance out of QHD especially in gaming etc, so my guess still stands to the point that FHD is actually balanced for current gen phones. Anything more than that requires more powerful gpu to match with QHD screens.

what's with the fuss man? i coming to Mate8 from Note4. despite the battery life test in gsmarena, in real life usage, the Mate8 battery life is way better than Note4 as real life comparison. i can hardly drain and deplete my Mate 8 in 24hours usage, with FB, whatsapp, wechat, line, viber, beetalk, kaokaotalk, icq, bbm, twitter, instagram, 17 and etc signed in. i think the only phone can beat Mate8 in battery life will be Lenovo P1 and Huawei X2 with 5000mah.

and i somehow prefer the screen on the Mate8's FHD screen, given me coming from 2k screen on Note4. if you really die die want to have the 2k screen psychology symptom in your phone, look else where. simple and easy. There is reason why Huawei die die do not want to put 2k screen in their phones yet. lol. tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

To each his own. I'd rather have long battery life than blinding screens LOL. Also, I'd prefer the battery depleted because of own usage, instead of some superb blinding screen..

On a side note, Mate 7 easily achieves 7 hrs SOT. This Mate 8, coupled with new processor should be able to get to 10 hrs SOT tongue.gif

Some people are spoiled by latest tech. In the near future, you'll see people craving for 4K screens and no fark is given to good battery life.

I already bought mine ( China set) n had been using it past 2 weeks
Since Msia launching 8 March just wait for it
Am sure sites such as Lazada, 11th street will offer lower prices than official retail. Unlikely directd or satugadget can match their prices

TechnoBuffalo review of the Mate 8

Some personal comments of Huawei UI :

Some users will not like the HW UI as it lacks an app drawer. I had been on the default UI for about 10 days already and seriously I do quite like it. I had given up using 3rd party launchers such as Nova, Action 3 as I found the refresh of widgets was just too miserably slow on reboot. Probably is the UI 4.0 bug or related to Marshmallow. I had never faced such issues on previous HW phones up to Kitkat/Jellybean. I had not try other 3rd party launchers besides these two
Using the default UI allows one to change to any of the large variety of themes available

The new UI 4.0 has made very great improvements vs earlier releases. Now is freaking easy to add apps into any created folder. Just select one's app and tap those app you need in one go unlike dragging each app in previous versions

I had disabled practically all the irritating notifications eg battery warning certain apps are using more power, apps using higher memory than usual etc. I feel all these are wasting system resources.
The battery life of the Mate 8 is already very very good and I easily get 9-10 hours SOT on a mix of wifi/LTE on mainly internet based stuffs

If your set holdup by custom you need to pay rm106 for sirim and 6% gst too
You need check with seller whether they covered such costs n arrangement to be deliver to you
Different sellers at Lazada does this differently n there is no standard practice.

1. YES but for China rom you nned to install Google playstore and playservices separately from the HW app store
2. It is easy. Just download the firmware - extract it till you get a dload folder. Just copy this folder to ext SDcard and select update form settings/local update OR the phone will auto update if you switch off phone, press both volup n vol down cum power button simultaneously. Once you see the HW logo, just release the power button and allow phone to detect the updated firmware . Once you see firmware being detected than release both vol buttons

I tested under Auto and manual mode on Mate8.

I think LG V10 and Note5 is better overall.

LG V10 manual mode is the best.

But auto mode Note5 better.

Mate8 noise control is quite bad.

LG V10 is undoubtedly the camera king amongst all the Androids I had used to date
I would say Mate 8 camera is equally as good if not better than Note5 n Nexus 6P. Noise ? I don't see this as a problem at all. Few minutes usage is often inefficient to assess
I had used all these phones n currently keeping the Nexus 6P ( plan to sell) n Mate 8 , LG V10

Just received notice of 2nd update on firmware. This is the second in my 3 weeks usage

i really hope the software can refine the cam experience and result. ^^ as i also read in china forum user review saying mate8 cam cant match oppo cam, but overall user experience, huawei mate8 is the best.

now march 1st is xiaomi mi5 time....

anyway, beside mate8 cam issue, i might already got it in beijing yesterday.

anyway, wait till a official launch in Malaysia, updated firmware might change my mind again?

after all, this beast still 1 of the best hardware offering in the market. happy.gif

Hello everyone,

I am from Turkey, and I am about to visit KL in 2 weeks. I had been there about 5 years ago for bussiness purposes and loved your country. And now I intend to visit for vacation with my family rolleyes.gif

I am also an Huawei Ascend Mate user, and I love my phablet. I would like to buy a couple of mate8 and upgrade my phone during my visit.

So please help me, will mate8 will be on shelves at that time, and how much will be the price for internetional version, do you have any idea?

And last of my boring questions, how can I reach the lowyat price lists on the internet.

Thanks for sparing your precious time. smile.gif

From the spec and benchmark, this is the best 6-inch and above smartphone.. Close competitor maybe the upcoming Oppo R9.. but R9 comes with 3700mah battery.. with 2k amoled display I say it will kill off the battery quickly..

Very good pricing indeed...guys - if you have the budget just take up the 4gb ram/64gb model. Overall I rate a very good phone n just slightly lose to LG V10 mainly on camera side. Its battery life is simply amazing for me with 9-10 hours SOT on mainly internet stuffs but no gaming

Interesting, gold option for 32gb?

Might just settle for 32gb, not hardcore user and main considerstion is still the battery life.

do mate 8 nortification still having issues? Was deciding between mate 8 and LG V10.

For mate 8 nortification seems like still having issues as I read from XDA and also camera focus issue as I can see the picture taken is quite soft.

While for LG V10, only cons is the battery life so far. And not sure if it will suffer same bootloop issues as LG G4 anot sweat.gif

Cuz all eyes are on the S7 Edge, while we're onto something different.

What's weird is that I'm interested on the Mate 8, while I don't really give a shit about the S7 Edge. Maybe I like something different, think different. biggrin.gif

+1. Not sure if SD820 will have overheating issue. But why not since M8 still based on android platform; should have minimal issue with it.

Dear my friend,

You have been using mate8 a while, I need to ask something. I have been using the first ascend mate for 2 years now. And my gps is never worked right. It seemed always lost. When it found the location, it is merely true, precision was bad all that time.

So I need to ask, have you used your mate8 gps. How it is perception time and precision?

If antutu score is important go for sd820 chipset phones. There will always be a better chipset next 3-4 months thereafter

Kirin 950 is a beast, it's just that the Mali T880 MP4 GPU is not that powerful, but it should be capable enough for many games.

Never used a Huawei phone before, but I have been admiring and trusted them since the good old Ascend P1. I don't know why some people are still skeptical about Huawei, since Huawei is a big company (world's no.3 smartphone manufacturer) and not some cheap China brand like Vivo, Leagoo etc. Hope Huawei will advertise more, they seriously need to get more attention and convince people to give their phones a try.

Mate 8 will be my first ever Huawei phone. biggrin.gif

The price is actually standard for Huawei mate series when u look back...
Mate 7 16gb rm1799 before gst
Mate 7 32gb rm1999 before gst

I really don't know why suddenly come out a Mate S with that crazy price tag.

- Weak currency
- Huawei went retarded
- 'S' makes it special
- Force touch...oh wait nevermind

Mate S without force touch is just an epic fail, plus that underpowered Kirin 935 SoC for RM 2699 when I can get Honor 7 for way cheaper price.

Hehe, check anandtech review, score is alright but remain 90% above throughput, really high efficiency processor in terms of power draw and output, i think is quite impressive. GPU is slightly bad la, luckily 1080p display only.

the 1080p 6inch screen is the main draw for me, consume less batt and with that whopping 4k batt i expect it last quite some time playing games. rclxms.gif

For me why Mate 8>Note 5, the price difference justify the difference. Not to say some feature from Mate 8 is better, fingerprint without turning on the phone. Yea, uncle Benny is quite right, should be the choice between either S pen or not. Quite easy.

I'm guessing mate 8 inherit the same hardware awesomeness as mate s. huawei hardware is top notch.

I'm also guessing mate 8 inherit the same software awfulness as mate s. EMUI reminds me of Touchwiz on S5.

emui is actually the ios skin of apple..
no app drawer..not a big deal with me,since i already normal with it..
Not much bloatware apps..can disable when not using it at all..
Motion control is great,knuckle gestures..
Overall emui consider not bad la..H7 is emui 3.1 while Mate 8 is emui 4.0...so maybe it should be better..but as i see from reviews, the fingerprint function on mate 8 gone dy..mean u can't swipe notification up and down, take picture with it..it just a fingerprint..

Definitely official Huawei Store since it's in their website as well as Huawei collection center .... besides the price , pre order delivery date is next week for collection , no confirmed date ... Seriously ? It makes me wonder , does Huawei really have shops like these as their official agent or the lady behind the counter is just " blur "

I never faced such issues at all on my previous Note 5 or any of my other phones too. You should sent in service center to check with such irritating problems. Is totally abnormal
And to the user who asked my photo of mocha brown just go to HW main site - the shown unit is similar.

How is the software on this phone? Heard less then stellar reviews for it sad.gif
*
It doesn't has app drawer like many other China source phones - iphone like!
Anyway app into folder in Emui is now easier - just tap app you wish from list into folder you need. Simplest n fastest implementation I had seen so far
Anyway Google had plan to do away with app drawer in Android N too!
You can also use any other 3rd party launcher eg Nova , ACTION3 - I had tested only these 2
Using 3rd party launcher will disallow you to choose the many HW themes available
The default software allows you to set permissions n notification options for all app an unseen feature in other androids I had used. Just explore it to tweak to your satisfaction

The most attractive feature of this phone is its insane battery life ...I brought this phone with me to Taipei but never use it. In 3 days battery level only drop 4% with wifi left on n phone unused. My mail n whatsapp n other
app notifications continue to work in background.
Normal daily usage I could easily get 9-10 hours SOT with a mix of LTE/wifi. In Taipei I am using my V10 as my daily phone

Been using note 5 for 1 month, software really got problem especially the network issue. I noticed not just data signal affected, even wifi also. Always show no signalso and unable to load the page. Need on off data or wifi or flight mode then Internet resume. Really frustrated.
Now mate 8 with such an attractive price, my heart is I'm struggling , becoz I'm S pen die hard fans.
Will wait till Marshmallow update, if problem still persist,  good bye S pen.

My S6 Edge+ also got very weak signal reception. I sold it off after I got Nexus 6P. N6P got very strong signal reception since it was designed by Huawei.

Mate s launch Oct 2015. Mate 8 launch yesterday.

Mate 8 cheaper den Mate S.

Mate 8 seems to be better speced than Mate S.

rather confusing strategy i think.

Note 5 for SPen if one need it
Mate 8 is my current second favorite after LG V10. In third place is Nexus 6P which I plan to sell off. Will judge how the S7 edge will fare against these 3 phones when I get it on 17 Mar

I considering mate 8 and note 5 for my wife.

The SPen is useless for us, my wife using Note 2 now but the SPen never pull out.
I using LG G3, not prefer LG V10 at this moment because worry of it battery consumption

and the LG G3 camera have to wait 1 to 3 second to continue capture in low light. This problem not exist in Samsung and Iphone.

I am P8 max user. Bought from Aliexpress. 32GB vs 64GB sure all choose 64GB, but the price difference is RM600-800. Lelong selling RM2210.
So i decided to get the 32GB @ RM1460. ( Now even lower, price drop )

Mate 8 64GB at RM2399 for me was acceptable if compare to Aliexpress. I thought it will be more than RM2500-2600. Selling price at aliexpress not cheap also.
And in China 128GB is only US$20/ RM100 difference vs 64GB.

It is consider attractive price for 6" phone, when some website like gemfive can get cheaper with discount. But Lazada do not allow discount code or maybank credit card eg. 10% discount?

I still love my P8 max as i prefer large screen size.

Note 5 for SPen if one need it
Mate 8 is my current second favorite after LG V10. In third place is Nexus 6P which I plan to sell off. Will judge how the S7 edge will fare against these 3 phones when I get it on 17 Mar
