If below 50 and want to put 1 month , got promo rate? tongue.gif

No promo rate. Unless you damn rich. Cimb efd can get 3.7 (only for very rich customers)

If not rich but have >=rm5000, choose maybank Islamic efd which give 3.25%

If only have rm1000-rm4999.99 can choose ambank Islamic efd which give 3.15% (minimum amount required is rm1000). There are other banks which allow rm1000 efd for a month. But forgot which bank it was.

sandkoh Must make sure people don't give free money to banks. Banks become richer, common people like us become poorer

Not sure what the fuss is about preferred/priority banking.  In my experience with CIMB, HLB and MBB, all I ever got was:
- annoying phone calls from salespeople trying hard to push insurance and unit trust
- getting sent unnecessary Infinite credit card without having to apply for it (still haven't used it once to this day)
- still having to wait around 20 minutes to be served in their preferred banking centres
- almost never ever getting a parking space in parking bays reserved for preferred customers, and even when there is one, getting a disgusted look from the security guard when I drive up in my >10 year old car
- never getting to enjoy preferential rates on FDs (maybe I didn't grovel hard enough)
- no lengluis to ogle at in the preferred centres

Unless you're getting something which you actually use, such as free access to airport "priority lounges", free full-body massage by lenglui RMs, regular free booze/food, etc I'd say this is more for show nia...

And I can't remember applying for preferred status in CIMB, they just did it when I deposited some money there, same with HLB, I can't remember completing any forms.

some bank giving access to airport lounge like citibank.

not sure you are touting being pb of cimb, hlb and mbb. or mentality of sour grapes as some people showed off pb gifts from various banks. tongue.gif

anyway, if the amount you have is not big, promo rates doesn't make much difference in terms of quantity

Then either you stick with Maybank 3.25% or ambank 3.15 or do like what wil-i-am does. Dump into ASX FP this coming 31st or 1st. Withdraw one month later. Any deposit after the 1st not counted. Must hold until that month ends. Can only withdraw the following month. Good side is no need rm100k can earn 6.X%. thumbup.gif Rm1000 also can. tongue.gif 1 month interest of 6.X% but you need to wait ~1 year to get that interest. sad.gif If you have the book, can do it online. Just pay I think rm1.06 regardless how much is the amount. But to withdraw need to go to bank.

For 1 month efd, better choose those real efd. No need to waste petrol.

Non bumi also can buy fix price funds. But it's dependent whether there's unit available when you wanna purchase. Lately people (non bumi) have reported to be able to buy fix price fund. Can always hop over to asx thread tongue.gif

Not true. You think I am bumi? Official answer is always full. No quota available. However if you refer to asx thread, there are "places" which have higher chances to open. All you need is just tell them "If got units available, I know can open account. Please try for me". If don't want to try for you, just go to another bank. However you missed the boat. Few months back you can have your pick how much you want to dump in. Now still can but chances have decrease. No harm trying to open. Only rm100 to open what. Don't be greedy by trying to open with rm10k. How do you think I managed to topup? I dont even have any book last time. One fine day, I was at klia2 and decided to try luck. Voila. I managed to open. I moved >50% of my FD inside there during the open season few months back. No need for me to keep chasing FD promo every year.

Btw, the ASX I mentioned above are tax/sc free. You buy and sell at rm1/unit. ASX FP is not FD, but for me is an upgraded version of FD. No tax/sc. Buy and sell at rm1/unit. What more can you ask? Dump it in and wait for dividends to come rolling in.

Refer to ASX thread for more info regarding concerns and etc.

Not sure if anyone asked this before. For the Ambank 2 months FD promo of 3.7%, does the same rate apply if opening via e-FD online instead of going to the branch?

Thanks.
