placed some kuaci amount to MBB 12mth GIA (eff rate 4.50%pa)

counter staff blur. I challenged her to check her facts. even showed her mbb website lol

got the cert. didnt state the rate. but psr 30:70 (bank:customer). if use MBB app, can see the Islamic flexi fd rate at 4%.

interest credit to m2u savers (non Islamic, they said any casa would do)

Ambank 4.55% for 5 years. Monthly interest will be given. for those above >50 years You can use in combination with ambank Truesavers 2.8% account to boost the effective interest rate that you received. At the end of 5 years, your effective interest rates will be more than 4.55%

Did not put that. I put ASX FP instead. tongue.gif Liquid enough to withdraw anytime without affecting the interest. No money for rm10k ambank 5 yearz and don't want to settle for board rates so choose ASX FP instead. smile.gif
One should maximise one's return rather than let the interest earn sitting in a useless account earning say 0.1-0.5% interest. DO NOT GIVE BANKS FREE LUNCH!

unkle said that bank fd promo need min 10k. why unkle still studying fd? tongue.gif

before release the details, i would like to confirm which bank negara rule that this bank has broken by not honoring full uplifting with full interest on printed maturity date, arguing that to avoid penalty, it has to be uplifted on printed maturity date + 1 day.

Got such logic in banking system? I will expose them only if they broke any banking rule, or enough people here feel it's unethical practice.
*
never this experience before. which bank?

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 16 2015, 03:08 PM)
Abit off topic here, but when I was at Maybank yesterday, the customer service told me they just had a meeting saying there maybe a new bond of 2 or 3 years going to be released that is capital guaranteed & guaranteed dividend of 5-6%.

It does look promising & will post again if confirmed.

With regards to the EIR 4.5% promo, she said the capital will only be affected if Maybank goes bankrupt.
*
capital guaranteed, yes. never dividend guaranteed. if yes, like fd alrdy.

QUOTE(kimmo88 @ Oct 16 2015, 03:10 PM)
You can change the daily limit to higher amount. For instance, UOB daily limit is 50k.
*
bro, some bank max 10k/day, how to change?

QUOTE(kimmo88 @ Oct 16 2015, 03:15 PM)
I just found out from calling UOB that uplifting of FD can be done online as well, no need to walk-in to branch.

UOB FD is maturity date + 1 day.

And if you do IBG online banking, the daily limit can be set to 50k.
*
same day otc, not +1day.

Why auto renew? By autorenew, you are giving banks free lunch of approximately 0.5% Every year! (I based it in other banks offer FD at 4.2%/year). Please don't do that. Better you lock in for long term at least you won't be giving free 0.5% to the bank. DO NOT GIVE FREE LUNCH TO BANKS! They are not your grandfather or parents. mad.gif vmad.gif

unkle/tun/dr ram. not everyone is sama sama like you. why so much against banks. vmad.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

QUOTE(value_investor @ Oct 23 2015, 06:17 AM)
Sorry 0.5% is nothing, i preferred to keep liquidity and hantam the stocks / forex when opportunity comes therefore all my FD is monthly. My average returns from stocks is double digits yearly, FD is just to temporarily keep the money.

This I can accept. thumbup.gif

sandkoh, why would you want to give banks free money? Banks leech from people (licensed ah long) So one should leech from them. By not leeching form them, one is not forcing banks to give better rates. The more people leech from them, other bank have to offer better rates so we won't lose customer.

If more people act like me and some lowyat forum people, we might see other banks offering >2.8% for SA, > 4.2%/pa FD. You want that don't you? drool.gif
*
laugh.gif what i am saying is not everyone is like you (or us tongue.gif ) who want the best fd rates. brows.gif

Depends on how long you want to lock it up for and your age. If you are above 50, some banks will give you monthly interest which you can further put somewhere else to boost your effective rates (the returns you are suppose to get)

Since you have rm10k, DO NOT OPT for bank's board rates. Go for their promo rates. You stand to gain min 0.5% compare to if you put at board rates. For what you want to give the bank free 0.5%?

No promo rate. Unless you damn rich. Cimb efd can get 3.7 (only for very rich customers)

If not rich but have >=rm5000, choose maybank Islamic efd which give 3.25%

If only have rm1000-rm4999.99 can choose ambank Islamic efd which give 3.15% (minimum amount required is rm1000). There are other banks which allow rm1000 efd for a month. But forgot which bank it was.

sandkoh Must make sure people don't give free money to banks. Banks become richer, common people like us become poorer

Not sure what the fuss is about preferred/priority banking.  In my experience with CIMB, HLB and MBB, all I ever got was:
- annoying phone calls from salespeople trying hard to push insurance and unit trust
- getting sent unnecessary Infinite credit card without having to apply for it (still haven't used it once to this day)
- still having to wait around 20 minutes to be served in their preferred banking centres
- almost never ever getting a parking space in parking bays reserved for preferred customers, and even when there is one, getting a disgusted look from the security guard when I drive up in my >10 year old car
- never getting to enjoy preferential rates on FDs (maybe I didn't grovel hard enough)
- no lengluis to ogle at in the preferred centres

Unless you're getting something which you actually use, such as free access to airport "priority lounges", free full-body massage by lenglui RMs, regular free booze/food, etc I'd say this is more for show nia...

And I can't remember applying for preferred status in CIMB, they just did it when I deposited some money there, same with HLB, I can't remember completing any forms.
*
some bank giving access to airport lounge like citibank.

not sure you are touting being pb of cimb, hlb and mbb. or mentality of sour grapes as some people showed off pb gifts from various banks. tongue.gif
