Thanks for the advice but the fact is I rent a room and my router is in my room, I use WiFi only when I'm on the bed which is less than 1.5m away from router (maximum). Else, my laptop is just right next to my router. laugh.gif
That's the reason why I can get full 11Mbps on my current VIP10.

To cut cost just buy a 5m LAN cable which allows u to wired-access from any corner of your room, when u think wifi access is no good. tongue.gif

ah...my is  unifi dlink router dir615. so can support 30mbps or will drop to 15 ?
*
Should not have issues, mine is connected at 72mbps with actual transfer rate at around 33-35mbps so it should cope with UniFi 30, only those with UniFi 50 should have concerns over stock router's WiFi performance.

torrent, max 3.6 MBps.

so, guys n gurls, go ahead and get it! biggrin.gif

how long does it take to torrent a 1.8~2GB movie? let say seeder is 1k+

one more thing, does 5mb upload speed cut from 10mb package really worth it?
i mean, from 10MB->30MB package it mean to sacrifice 5mb upload but gain 10mb download

If the stock router can't manage to have 30Mbps with Wifi but LAN can, option are:

1. Change the 3rd party router that capable to deliver Wifi at 30Mbps.

2. If don't know how to configure the router, get an access point (or even and plug into the LAN port of the stock router, much more simple than configure the router. As Unifi router needs additional configuration in term of Vlan tagging as compared to ordinary Streamyx one that just need to key in username and password only.
*
Option 2, any suggestions? I was told my TP-Link MR3420 can make it as an access point which I'm still figuring it out how to do it. doh.gif

Any router with Wifi can be used as access point.

I have an old Dlink streamyz modem/router, just set option from PPPOE to bridge mode, then done already.

Ipad wifi to Dlink, dlink connected to Unifi router via LAN.

That easy? I read from Google result, I have to put in the IP address. blush.gif

I have a question about Unifi username and password... Which username and password is it referring to?

Got my upgrade to 30Mb (from 10Mb). For my case, when I use my home netbook (Atom chip), I only get 12-13Mb download when doing the speed test. However if I use my office laptop, I get a full 30Mb +- on download speed test. All test using Wifi (stock router). So can I conclude that low end spec laptop/pc using Wifi have impact on download speed?

Yes it is very simple.

When the router being set as bridge mode, it doesn't do the routing function, hence it doesn't require an IP or whatever setting , as now it becomes a switch already. Everything just pass through only.

If you doing this way to get wifi, you don't need to touch the Unifi router at all. Just plug in the modem/router that become a switch now.

Inside the Unifi router, they do set /save the username and password.

When you installed the Unifi time, the technician generally gave you a piece of registration info on that contained all your unifi info (username, password, infoblast hyyptv password, equipment given, etc which is generated by their system)

I Just receive a call too to upgrade to 30mb / rm199. And Im a vip5 user currently. I would say that coming from 5mb and going 30mb for another rm50 is very good deal.

I did not hesitate and just agreed to upgrade. I'm using RT-N14UHP so I assume this router can support 30mb right?

Anyone has any link or pic to show what channels/package are available?

Thanks. smile.gif
