QUOTE(LordSparda @ Aug 6 2015, 11:57 AM)
Just got my update to 30 mbps yesterday. It's a bit slow though; I'm getting around 2.7 - 2.8 mb/s downloads at max. Is that normal? I was expecting greater than 3.0 mb/s.

Also, my default unifi router is borked; looks like wireless is dead on it. After the package upgrade I can connect to the wifi, but can't get any data at all.

I can't change the router since they never give me the login/password for my account (said not allowed to give woh...), so I'm thinking of buying a wireless access point. Do they sell those around here? What brand is good?
*
Try rebooting the router.

Entirely replacing the TM router is the best option. You can get your account ID and password from the customer service.

A list of Unifi compatible router.

QUOTE(micwk @ Aug 6 2015, 12:10 PM)
dear all sifus,

what router would you recommend to use with Unifi30? read through quite a lot of pages back but seem to find anyone recommending a specific router. some say ASUS RT-N14UHP is good but a bit pricey. are there any lower range but still good routers you guys are using?

your help is much appreciated.

There are no specific router. Just get one according to your budget.

Maybe you can consider TP-LINK WDR4300. It is cheaper than Asus N14UHP.

Around RM240.

Just get what you can afford, they should perform better than the TM router.

Or consider the Asus RT-N12HP instead if you are looking for something cheaper.

30 Mbps = 3.75 megabytes/s

if your 80% below this expected mb/s lodge a report to both mcmc and to tmnut doh.gif

not sure if that rule applies to international mb/s which is much more important.....

a forummer mention this in the other thread. could it be true?

I quote...

looks like different QoS setting for unifi30 compared to VIP package. VIP more consistent because they pay more, also heard that the discounted package (rm169/179 for vip10) also suffered in term of actual bandwidth.

looks like tm introduce this new package just to stop their current customers or potential customer from other ISP (maxis, time, etc), but with the cost of lesser product quality. Not many people give shit about speed consistency, they only care about more mbps, more faster mindset (similar to camera's megapixel)

was is the differences observed?

I know its lifetime, I still need buy better one just for backup.. sometime TM delay which not convenience for me.
*
i am not sure but i think they lock the mac address to each btu... i got new one when transferring to JB... the old alcatel-lucent and new one huawei....

when change, cannot get the alcatel to link with fiber line.... wait for 5 minutes the link still blinking in red... change to huawei back under 10 second, lock already....

but still good have one backup.... later just call tm to reset back the port...

U need to run www.speedtest.net, give us feedback.
*
It's a little strange, but speedtest is never accurate for me. It usually shows 12-15 mbps download, around 1 mbps upload. Though in actual practice I can get up to 2.8 mb/s download; so my most accurate speed test is using torrents, lol.

But I'm at my office at the moment, so can't do the test here and show you guys.

Really? I tried calling the customer service before to get the ID/password, but they said customer not allowed to know. I'll try again and see.

Yikes. Well I'm sort of close... (80% is 3.0 mb/s, I'm getting 2.8 mb/s) so I guess it may be due to the old and rapidly failing router. I'll try with a new router and see. Hopefully I can get the ID/password this time.

check the phone whether got dialing tone or not... or check hypptv ok or not.... for easier way, maybe you can attach picture of your modem to make the diagnosis much easier....

you can try testmy.net for speed test... choose the file between 30-60mb.... then you can see their chart.
