So I've gotten the call as well for the 30 mbps package upgrade. Not bad... I pay the same price as my old VIP10, but I get to keep all my channels - I got the platinum pack for free in a previous promotion. Platinum pack is basically the jumbo pack minus the VOD channels, so it's quite nice that they're letting me keep that. Though apparently, because I live in an apartment, 30 mbps is the maximum the speed can go... I was hoping to opt for the 50 mbps upgrade, but no such luck.

Time Broadband is also available at my apartment, and they can go up to 50 mbps. What do you guys think? Time is the same price as Unifi for all their packages, but they have no TV.

Also... anyone know if there's noticeable difference between 30 and 50 mbps?

Just got my update to 30 mbps yesterday. It's a bit slow though; I'm getting around 2.7 - 2.8 mb/s downloads at max. Is that normal? I was expecting greater than 3.0 mb/s.

Also, my default unifi router is borked; looks like wireless is dead on it. After the package upgrade I can connect to the wifi, but can't get any data at all.

I can't change the router since they never give me the login/password for my account (said not allowed to give woh...), so I'm thinking of buying a wireless access point. Do they sell those around here? What brand is good?

U need to run www.speedtest.net, give us feedback.

It's a little strange, but speedtest is never accurate for me. It usually shows 12-15 mbps download, around 1 mbps upload. Though in actual practice I can get up to 2.8 mb/s download; so my most accurate speed test is using torrents, lol.

But I'm at my office at the moment, so can't do the test here and show you guys.

Try rebooting the router.

Entirely replacing the TM router is the best option. You can get your account ID and password from the customer service.

A list of Unifi compatible router.
There are no specific router. Just get one according to your budget.
Really? I tried calling the customer service before to get the ID/password, but they said customer not allowed to know. I'll try again and see.

30 Mbps = 3.75 megabytes/s

if your 80% below this expected mb/s lodge a report to both mcmc and to tmnut doh.gif

not sure if that rule applies to international mb/s which is much more important.....
*
Yikes. Well I'm sort of close... (80% is 3.0 mb/s, I'm getting 2.8 mb/s) so I guess it may be due to the old and rapidly failing router. I'll try with a new router and see. Hopefully I can get the ID/password this time.

I recently upgraded from my old VIP10 package up to the new Unifi 30 mbps package. It's a decent deal; I get to keep my platinum pack TV channels and pay the same amount (199+GST). However, what the sales guy neglected to tell me is that my apartment does not support 30 mbps... the most the speed will reach is around 20-25 mbps. Only found out when I complained to their hotline about the speed.

What do you guys think? I'm deciding between keeping Unifi, putting up with the poor speed, so I can keep my TV channels (I honestly don't watch them very much though), or switch over to Time which is basically the same price, but no TV (technically means its overpriced)?

Also, is it possible to downgrade my package back to VIP10, because they extended my contract by 24 months already, so I have to pay penalty if I choose to cancel.

Have you tried changing to another router or something? hmm.gif
*
I'm using a relatively new ASUS N14UHP. It helps a bit... with the stock router I get around 20 mbps, with the ASUS I get 20-25 mbps. Still under speed though.

care to share how to get those deals? current on VIP 10 & hyptv mega pack..want to retain those
*
They just called me and offered. This deal probably only comes through the phone/sales people (the TM store I go to don't even know about this 30 mbps package, lol). I think it's also because of contract, they offer special deals if your contract has expired, all for the purpose of extending your contract... mad.gif

Anyone else think that youtube is being throttled? Forget about 1080p, youtube often defaults to 144p  and often the max i can play it is 480p Some days is worse than others but right now anything higher than 144p will be stuck at buffering! vmad.gif

Using Unifi 20Mbps with ip range 175.143.xxx.xxx btw
*
I find this happens to some videos; some will play fine, some will take ages to buffer. I can play a 4k video and a lot of 1080p 60fps videos without buffering (on wifi, even... I tested the 4k video on my Note 4) then suddenly a 720p video buffers like crazy. I'm on a 30 mbps package (throttled to 20 mbps shakehead.gif ).

My contract for VIP 10 only restarted last year's Dec and somehow for this 30Mbps, it didn't show new date for me. Still continues from previous VIP 10. tongue.gif

Lol, on the OCC mine still shows my old date way back in 2013 tongue.gif

But surely their official records should be better? tongue.gif
