These few days many areas no water, thanks to poorly managed Syabas. Today they came to give free water to residence apologetically.

So decided to use TDS meter to test Syabas free (not for sale) RO Water = 6 ppm

Then, open up SeaHorse RO Bottled Water = 1 ppm

During the shortage of water, if without outdoor filter, when the water returns, do wait for it to flush till clear first, otherwise very fast indoor filter clogged up. Anyone had bad experience with that?

We are still light years away when it comes to clean tap water in Malaysia as compared to Singapore. How sad. If only we have bright people in politics and managements.

btw, lets work out per year cost RM/liter for a filter? Since we got many users from different brands...

We could benchmark with say SeaHorse bottled water at RM0.6 for 1.5L i.e. RM0.4/L.

assuming filters need to replace annually, anyone could please contribute 'annual filtration capacity' and 'price of annual ownership' here?

I will assume my house use 5L per day drinking water average out inclusive weekend (since most time we not at home) one year 365 x 5L = RM 730 (using 40 cents per L), my 3M indoor is about RM 400 per replacement -ve the boiling, still worth it. I usually change at interval of 14-15 months

While 3M outdoor RM 400 also, and i used lots more, and I usually chance after 18months.

So that work out around RM 50 per month. Still ok for clean water.

When planned water disruption, Syabas will send us note to advice home owner close the main tap, and only switch it on few hours after the water return.

'annual filtration capacity' can refer to product specs.

and

'cost of annual ownership' include outdoor and indoor filters, include cost of boiling and changing filters etc.

btw, the seahorse RO water can buy in bulk or bigger bottle for cheap probably rm0.3/L. Ofcause to be fair, it need to factor in cost of transportation, however if u order from say Tesco, you already well covered in free delivery.

from my experience, average usage per household (4-5 ppl) is 2500L - 3000L. How i get this estimate? based on how frequent my customers change their cartridge and also my own usage.

If it is 2500L then it will cost RM 1000 per year. Never try seahorse water could it be seamaster instead? but for 60cents 1.5L is very cheap, even tesco water is 90 cents, Spritzer RM 2.85... such a huge price difference

Thank you for the invite, I thought you'd never ask....Yes, why not make a date, a few of us all go your shop, I bring my particle checker and we examine your water? We want to test an aged filter, a cartridge towards its end of life and see how it perform. Could you stand by 1?

Which date others want to go together?  I am open for suggestion.

Debating alone might not be convincing enough, lets wait til u come to my shop and compare your Espring with my Aquaphor and see the results, you may test whatever and however you like but to be fair, the same test must b done with your Espring on the same day as comparison. Just give me a date, we are open 6 days in a week. I have a unit installed in my shop where we demo and also drink it everyday.

After the test, i can also cut open the unit for you to have a look that it is not a brand new unit (cartridge replaced in April 2016). Then to be fair, we cut your cartridge as well to compare. Lets do this smile.gif

Since both sides already accepted and agreed to the challenges, why not fix the date of this unprecedented showdown this Saturday, 1 September 2016 @ 10.30am?
The present of witness from fellow forumer is not necessary unless some one here is willing to go together. Video recording and uploading it to YouTube is the best witness.
Im very excited to know the outcome of this unprecedented POU water filter challenge. drool.gif

I went to Tesco yesterday to look for 5.5L bottle RO water, cheapest I can find is RM5.99 per bottle.
I'm actually looking for distilled water for my car radiator but don't know where to get it, so no choice have to use RO as replacement.

thanks for correction, it's seamaster (my bad), can buy from borong supplier.

If you go for vending machine say 1liter is only 10 or 20 cents only, bring a TDS tester and make sure ppm is below 7 for it to be called true RO water. Otherwise, skip them.

Insisting on other forumer to come a long is going to be difficult. It's like calling off the challenge.
I don't think forumers who has no direct interest whatsoever with the products would want to spend time and involve in this.
This challenge is between Amway and Aquaphor, just go there, do the test, take video, 10min kaodim. Then post the video to YouTube and share the link here.
Come on Amway, steady, your eSpring is discussed here extensively, don't disappoint your followers.
