It's up to you. there's a reason why there is longjohn. besides, it's worn inside and not outside. if ugly, who can see? If you want to wear heavy winter jackets and walk around also can.....

bro, is that necessary to get JR pass?
any other way to travel around Osaka to Nara, then from Osaka to Kyoto, Kyoto to Tokyo without JR Pass?
I will be there 13 days, cheapest JR pass valid for 7 days only, afraid underutilize and have to top up for daily pass somemore.
*
No need JR pass.
It was useless in Kansai Area and Tokyo area. Plus shinkansen ride just one way.

If Shinkansen ride was 2 way then worth it.

I m quite worry if it will be too cold during nov in japan.. especially when travelling to kawaguchiko lake with my 2 year old kid. According to forecast will be (1 - 10celcius) and the temperature may drop further down if the wind is blowing

any chances there will be snowing during november?

My friend told me that we can get warm pack easily from convenience store?

sorry: abit off topic here
any has review on uniqlo heattech? plan to buy few pieces for her as inner wear, with long sleeve and jacket on top, as well as scarf/cap/gloves.
Quite difficult to get winter clothes for her size thou.. i have tried wintertime and universal traveller, it's all too big for her, may be i need to "taobao" but worry about the quality. Any suggestion where to get the winter clothes for toddler in malaysia?

many thanks

Hi, try Kok Kong Winter wear at Jalan Loke Yew. They have extensive choices of winter clothes. My family incl my 2 boys (aged 7 & 10) this year february were happily playing with snow at Biwako Valley (Shiga, kyoto). We bought our winter clothes from Kok Kong.

I bought my winter down coat from Kok Kong too 3 years ago, quality quite good though made in China but I think the design is bit outdated and their price quite expensive.

Just found an online shop which you may browse through: http://www.winterclothes.com.my/ but not sure about quality though.

If you do get long johns, go for cotton type and avoid wool. Cos when you go indoors, it'll get warm and wool will cause itchiness.

When it gets cold, a warm hat, scarf and gloves works wonders. There are also one time use heat packs which generate heat when unsealed and exposed to air which you can get at Daiso here.

Cause I am a big sized so usually I avoid wearing tight clothes cause I sweat and it will be uncomfortable sweat.gif That is why I try to avoid long johns. My idea now would be T shirt, jacket, long jeans and scarf cause it will be easy to move around...but not sure can tahan the cold or not cause I'll be outdoor a lot - visiting temples, streets and others hmm.gif

I normally get by with layering t-shirt, sweater, winter jacket and wear a scarf, ski cap and gloves. Did this in UK, Russia and US. If really really cannot tahan then I add on a light jacket between the winter jacket and sweater.

What kind of temperatures and wind are you expecting?

The winter jacket right, go for those can tahan wind type. Some bergaya tak berguna. When wind blow straight shivering.
