No experience with Ocbc
How is their customer service?
*
first time experience so far so good. services are good too.

applied fd promo + opening casa (smartsavers) last year, the staff managed well.

I'll be there probably next week or so to withdraw my casa (been dumping 1k/mth to gain max interest tier) and put to a decent fd promo (probably uob or mbb)

Checked with HLB today, if withdraw before full term, even fulfilled partial/some of the STEP UP FD period, interest will be halved sad.gif((
*
Depositor should be entitle to full interest as advertised in a Step up FD should he uplift upon completion of the first step or the following steps tenure.
HLB flyer advertised first step 9 months is 4.10% meaning depositor is entitle to 4.10% upon withdrawal on or after 9 months.
If indeed HLB penalize 9 months upliftment with half interest payment, then the advertisement of 4.10% for the first 9 months is meaningless or misleading. Why quoted 4.10% when there is no way to earn the 4.10% right ?. In this case, the proper advertisement should be 15 months 4.26% and no step up.

I believe is quite common now a days most of the bank don't have pass book anymore. We are forced to get a debit card and be charged min RM8 per annum.
As far as I know Public Bank still able to issue a pass book.

Thanks for the info, its new to me tho. All this while been getting pass book from other banks (rhb, cimb, pb, maybank).

not sure, didn't really asked last time laugh.gif

whn i placed my fd, I instructed to credit back into casa, principal + interest. I'll funnel the principal to reduce my house loan (also ocbc), hence I didn't think of stepping into the branch.

Yes, this is intended to be grey and misinterpreted, and then they make the kill. Noted Affin and HLB so far, any others?

just a rough calculation of avg monthly interest gained upon maturity when compared between tenure vs (final) effective rate %
MBB 10-mth @ 4.15% p.a. - RM 69.36

UOB 12-mth @ 4.20% p.a. - RM 70.19

PBB 12-mth @ 4.175% p.a. - RM 69.77

MBB 12-mth @ 4.50% p.a. - RM 75.21 (islamic GIA, no guarantee)

OCBC 13-mth @ 4.20% p.a. - RM 70.28

HLB 15-mth @ 4.26% p.a. - RM 71.27

MBSB 18-mth @ 4.50% p.a. - RM 75.07 (no PIDM)

very worthy compilation.

from risk point of view, having an extra 0.3% without PDIM coverage is no a wise choice, won't you think so?

I would like the ask the wise ones...

cybpsych, which package is your pick?

not really worthy la, just play play with the numbers, see if it make sense biggrin.gif

my fund would be from OCBC. gotta look at other aspects, including tenure, maturity date, convenience, etc.

1st choice MBB 5+5mth (expect to mature in Aug 2016, give me time for reinvestment from Aug-Sep 2016 onwards)
2nd choice PBB 12mth, dont mind lower rate but i got CASA there, in case need one.

been looking at UOB, pretty straightforward, no casa needed, but too far from my residential address (if they really check ur distance must be within 10km radius mad.gif )

any promo longer than 12mth, can KIV first biggrin.gif

I will take the HLB 15 months promo, as they are pidm protected, and pays interest monthly,
the interest paid out can put into another fd, that makes 3%+- interest onto your interest. brows.gif

In fact, Maybank offer is similar to MBSB offer @ 4.50%

I agreed to certain extent. But the profit rate of MBSB is more or less guaranteed. I said guaranteed as it is an Islamic product.

Both are NOT capital guaranteed.  tongue.gif

Have already put in some eggs in MBSB, will be adding more soon.  biggrin.gif

I took a look again at the MBSB offer of 18 mth 4.5%. I think what @wil-i-am said is correct. Both are general investment i product. Even MBSB return is not fixed as it is Islamic product.

MBB manager admitted that it is NOT a FD product. Another MBB branch said capital is guaranteed by MBB but it is NOT capital guaranteed.

Looking at the 2, MBB one is better at 12 mth and also monthly interest. biggrin.gif

Also MBB one is invested on its sister Islamic Bank so safer in a way ? MBB is a much bigger bank. biggrin.gif
