For unit buy in Malaysia, it already bundled with Mapking navigation software. Since your unit bought from US may be you can check out with local MIO dealer. hmm.gif

my GPS is more annoying than my dad. It keeps on yelling "Please slow down!!"

miss this in my old hp6965`s mapking software, its actually cool because it reads not only the road from the map but the road signs too, like speed limit and the yellow lines etc

and yeah, it will sound out when u pass the speed limit

I still can't get it setup properly. I am using Nokia N95 8GB. I dunno what is the software pre-installed but i think it is a standard one as I didn't install anything.

when i load the nokia map, it keeps telling me no Internet connection and i have to opt for the easy WLAN? if i am on a go, i can't connect via my modem, right?

please tell me how to connect to maxis? i tried all the options. 3G WAP, MMS, Internet or Wap2.0 or MMS 2.0.

it keeps giving me the yellow signal non-stop. (no internet connection detected of course).

please help... all those GPS sifu. PM me if you can. thanks.

hmm thats weird, have u try other program other than mapking? usually the program won`t prompt for searching for gps after the first time u set it to internal one..

If all fails, try hard reset ur 6515 and reinstall the program, some *ahem*ed program after some period of time will maybe expired or something, which will only detect the gps device of their line, example is garmin xt, the un*ahem*ed one will only detect their own bluetooth garmin gps and not the internal one

cheers

If Garmin and Mapking map, you can go to Malsingmaps.com

For Nokia maps, you need to be online all the time. i.e u must either on 3G or GPRS. The reason why it's need 3G is bcos this maps only available online & keep on downloaded once the satelite acquired. In addition to this, u need to subscribe for the Voice navigation which is about RM38/mth.

Therefore...Dun go for Nokia maps...go for Garmin MXT. In order for the Garmin to work, u need to buy the preloaded Garmin SD card which u can find from any Garmin retailer (try the Garmin shop at Digital Mall). If not, u need to buy a seperate GArmin BT GPSr (Garmin 10X) to pair wth the set..Thereafter tha maps are totally free for life.. biggrin.gif

Hi GPS sifu,

I am thinking of getting a GPS device for occasional usage in the car for Klang VAlley roads...

Which of these do u think is suitable for me :-
1) Standalone GPS such as Holux, Garmin (saw a Holux unit selling RM788)

      Holux GPSmile 53CLife - Car Navigator RM788
      Altina A660 GPS (RM899)

Got to ask the sifus here. I bought HTC Tytn2 and been trying the GPS function. It comes preloaded with Mapking2007 and GPSGate program.

I know to get the GPS working I'll need to open GPSGate first, then Mapking and let it get a lock. But the lock is extremely slow. Like today, I drove 5 minutes in Federal Highway and it still doesn't lock. Only when I'm halfway home, it's gets a lock.

Is GPSGate program any good? If it's the best program available then what setting do I tweak? Or is the slow lock is from rumours I heard about SIRIM sticker interfering with the gps signal?

5 minutes seems too slow. my htc p3300 with internal gpsr can lock in 1 min or so. i think it uses the same chipset (sirfstarIII) right?. actually u don't need gpsgate to run mapking. mapking can detect the internal gpsr automatically. u need gpsgate to run garmin que coz it couldn't detect gpsr other than garmin's
