generally, you have more buying power earning SG$. Someone said, price of items can be comparable to Gaint in JB after conversion.. but I say, gerenally its slightly higher in SG, although sometimes, it can be cheaper than MY as a whole. Some items are cheaper in SG, but generally its couple of cents or even up to 1 dollar. But do not despair, you can buy more with SG$ as compare to earning in RM... food also quite affordable depending on where you live. Of course, you can't compare prices if you are working and spending in business district and shopping malls. These places usually charge more. I work and live in a heartland HDB flat, so prices in these areas are quite all right, $2-$3 you can get some food for meal.... just some e.g. $2 food items includes Chicken rice (certain place $1, small portion of chicken that's all), fishball noodle soup, laksa, wanton noodle, etc.. $2.5 Prawn noodle (some places $2), hand mande noodle... mixed vegetable rice $2.5-$3 depending otems slected).. just to name some...

Just want to assure Malaysians, should not be any problem. I am a once a year traveller to KL and I can say, there are things you can buy in KL, but there are things I would rather buy in SG.

If u can survive with RM4k in Msia u can survive with SGD3k in Spore. But just gotta live modestly there.

Your wife could have problem even to stay at Spore if no cert. In Spore, foreigner who has no cert = hardly has job.
The only way she could stay at Spore with u is u gotta be a Spore PR, and apply her a dependant pass, subject to approval. If u dun want to be PR there, probably u wanna stay at JB with ur wife...
Think twice.

Obviously can survive with sg3K. By reducing your living standards, you can easily do that. I just want to know, lets just say he wants to have the same living standard as Malaysia, say a car and a 1100 sf condo (since both of these make up the highest expenses) is it possible to achieve with Sg3K?

Actually life syyle in KL is much more facinating, there are some thing that are hard to find in Singapore due to their gov policy. But overall its a lot safer there.

SGD3k with condo and car at Spore? Yes it is hard.
Spore is convenience, safe and systematic. If u aim to gain more regional or global working environment, having stable and peaceful family life, Spore shall be a good choice.
Otherwise, better stay at bolehland and look for other oppurtunity.

Eh... I am earning $3.8k per month.
I also don't dare to buy car. Everyday still taking mrt.
I really don't understand how come so many people can afford driving nowadays in Singapore.
Maybe my salary is too low to buy a car. sad.gif
I wonder how much they pay for the car installment, fuel and etc. per month.

haha. When I was at Spore, I also earning abt your salary now and I took mrt to work, happily.
But i have friends who earn 2.5k own car. It depends how u manage your expenses. Get a cheap car for eg. 1000cc hyundai getz, it's abt 40k include coe. Mthly installment abt 600~700, fuel abt 200~300. Of cos all in sgd. Eat at heartlander kopitiam cost abt 5/meal. Still got spare to shop at orchard during weekends and have occasional restaurant meals. They also live happily. But maybe not much saving so always skip our hi tea gathering.

actually if u work in SG and of cz that u r living thr, i think u should stay at KL. it's bcoz tat SG is in a high living standard. if u earn $ and spending, living thr, it wil be almost the same compare to living in Msia.

Besides tat, if u r nt PR(Permanent Resident), and u jz offered a job permit, even ur wife go wif u along, she still cannot working thr (tat's SG's rules)!!

so better consider carefully. bt hwever if the job has offered u a gd brightly future, y nt to hv a try!!!
