This statement needs to be corrected.

Some companies pay CPF even thought the person is not a PR. However there is a max cap of the CPF amount that can be paid. It's about SGD 600-650 forgotten the exact number.

Yishun is nearer for you to go raffles by MRT. Anyway woodlands is just 3 extra station away, not too much different

oh well, bkt panjang is 'okay' , but the problem with the place i stay now has an auntie landlord that seems l ike everyday got PMS, kpkb like mcb.

thats why i need to move out to somewhere nearer at all cost, easier. of course after looking through the discussion in this forum, really made me think back if it's me being adventurous or just plain stupid to rush to be here realizing if its 'worth' with the current amount of money. that goes same for me to need be apart from my family

anyone know if theres room at toa payoh for rent?

well, that is quite common tho. ppl look good and get lots of money sure will have higher demand... singaporeans whether OL or OG will all be materialistc.

But i do strongly agree, those OL are dammm hot man!!! Their tailors are very efficient, they can use limited cloth material to do a very professional outfit, sometime with torn materials, which they cleverly disguise and term it "slits"

MRT ride for 3 stations won't cost you much, for long distant like yours. You can check out the price at SMRT.COM.SG under fare for train. The difference between them for Ezylink card is mere 15c. What I would suggest to you is, consider amendies around those 2 areas, which has more since you probably be the one shopping, walking around looking for stuff. Woodlands near to custom, the old Woodland interchange where you find many shops around and also many Malaysians too .. not sure they shop there, but I was told. Here, you also have one of the well known supermart in SG, Sheng Siong, well known for it cheap prices. However, I must say, the prices aren't really as cheap as before now. Do look around when you shop, but that place could be your comparing point. At Woodland MRT, there is this Causeway point, one big and crowded mall.

As for Yishun, there is this North Point shopping centre.. the only thing I can think of.

I dun feel the living expenses in singapore is dam high. My earning is not that high, at least not hit the amount you mention. I still can living quite comfortably in singapore with my pay and have some saving. May be definition of the comfortable life for everyone is different.

I agree with that statement too. There are easily many PRC people working as low wage wrokers like vegetable sorters and packing, retail outlet like teller at supermart counter. Their salary isn't high, but they can get by. So I presum like I said before, many here in this blog are fortunate enough to demand higher wages. However, there are equally many Singaporeans earning similar wages like these PRC people and are coping well.. So I guess the level of comfort counts alot here.

What's essential in SG might not be essential item in MY. Just quote from a parliment session last year or the year before, it was said, SG basic essential due to the country build up was no longer what it used to be.. even having a PC is an essential in SG context as many are wire up and email seems inevitable, and essence of daily routine. Even HP could be counted as one. But some 10-15 yrs ago, these had never been a way of life.

I still believe, despite SG cost of living, its far better for now as compared to MY.

sorry, i shd rephrase this. It really varies from cases to cases. For my case, I mean it does not justify the time i am spending away from my family for that kind of money. Its just too lil. If i wanna be away...it gotto be alot more and not what i can also earn in malaysia. And in malaysia, i do not need to pay rent, or makan out. For me, i calculate that also. Besides...most work in singapore for malaysians are contract base...they do not include bonuses/epf/etc and long term security with the company, they can kick you out anytime. but then again, its up to u guys. Sometimes, neva try neva know. When go there oredi you might have a better luck such as getting a better pay job or permanent jobs. Good Luck guys thumbup.gif

btw..wat i realised is everybody wana go singapore..and usually they calculate the money after exchange rate....they neva include the living expenses and also the bonus/epf/etc not included in their salary. End up....after calculation malaysia seemed to pay a higher salary. So these people usually willing to take a paycut in SGD thinking that its still higher...but in actual fact its not worth it unless u r thinking of migrating or dun mind being away from family or wanna start a life in singapore. But if u r going purely for the money, its not worth it. But if u r getting an offer which is higher than your salary perannum in SGD, by all means go ahead. Just informing you guys not to be too excited when get offer and jump.

I agree. Things here are relatively cheaper and salary is quite competitive. I worked in KL for a year with a salary of 2.1k as a professional (fresh graduate 2 yrs ago). The cost of travelling already took up almost 30% of my salary (Car Installment & petrol, toll), plus, the terrible jam and expensive meals around KL, in the end, I really have nothing in my savings.

Being in Singapore, I can now afford to remit back RM2K back home every month and indulgence myself in branded items and not worry over my expenses.

Demanding SGD3.5k is quite unreasonable if you have less than 2 years experience.

Just my 2 cents.
