working life is heaven here! hohoho..the transportation and working environment is good. NO TRAFFIC JAMS and BROKEN LRTSsssss/monorails/ktmssss..
no more lrts tat stop in the middle of no where...
sad to say..i miss malaysia soo much, but till they improve the transportation there......

The food is alrite if u know wer to makan
its not expensive dollar to dollar.....u will be earning proly the same thing in msia...
besides the rental part...everything seemed cheaper and u get to save abit. BUT!! unless u r earning more than SGD2.5k...dun bother coming coz no point after all the expenses, u will be left wif pretty much nothing.

my expenses now;
sgd450 = room (near town and 5 mins from mrt)
sgd60-sgd80 = transport
sgd200 = go back kl twice a month(lesser than this actually)
sgd500 = makan
Total = SGD1230

(dun forget the TAX, and mics stuffs)
but basically spend around sgd1500 ....the rest can save.
so if u r earning 2500, at least can save around rm2k per month or maybe lesser since shopping here is dem dem good!

hmm... wats ur job in sg? any idea how much software engineer get to paid in SGD? any racism issue? r we malaysian (chinese) being respected or lookdown juz as pendatang asing...
*
Hmm...I m working in an IT recruitment and solutions agency as an IT recruiter. So if anybody wanna work in SG, please do send your resume to me at leeling.teo@theoptimum.net. However, we do not hire fresh grads. So once any of you guys have 1year experience and above, feel free to bomb my email with your resumes. Please do write in details about the projects you are involved in, it will help a lot in securing an interview. Most of our clients are big MNCs like Merril Lynch, Citibank, Standard Chartered, Accenture, IBM, HP, Barclays, Credit Suisse, etc.....

I have no idea about racist problem...I have no prob as my company is multiracial...Indians, Pilipinos, Chinese from China, Malaysia, Singapore....the only Singaporean Chinese working in my company is very nice and frenly....humble too...
But basically most of these MNCs are multiracial, will not have problems.

Software engineer? Hmmm wat field? It depends on your specialization and experience....
SAP, Peoplesoft, SAS, Datawarehousing, Business Objects, Informatica, C++, DBA specialist can demand much much more than asp, .net. java......but a java person can demand more than asp, .net, vb....
In short, it depends whether u are in demand or not....if everybody is doing the same thing, they will not pay much as they can find their own people to do the job.

15% flat rate. no rebate or relief if not mistaken.
*
ermm...
15% only if u work for less than haf a year in 1 year or 183days in a year
meaning if u come into sg after 1st July your salary for tat year will be taxed 15%
if u come in be4, it will be something like our malaysia taxation.
btw...here your tax can be paid in monthly installment (and dun get me wrong, its not same as PCB)

PCB, belum tax, the company oredi deducting your tax according to estimation.

Here, after u declared your tax amount, you can choose to pay the amount in monthly installments. (12months)

What's the demand and offer for MCSE with MNC exp?
*
ermm.....MCSE is just another cert, it depends on wat position are u refering to.
lets say, my client wants a windows support guy with MCSE certifications, then your chances of getting the job will be higher than someone who does not have MCSE
Experience in MNC just made it easier to get shortlisted....

if we know how to manage our money i think should be no problem..
but for me the problem is i`m very lonely lol maybe i`m new here or i really miss my gurl in KL  sad.gif ..hehhe
*
Same ere...feeling home sick

For a norm person to live in comfort, SGD1500 is more than enuf to survive liaoz.
Thats y i said, must earn more than SGD2500...else not worth coming here. Earn in Msia better...

Thou I am currently not working in SG now (used to long time ago), I feel its a great place to work and learn. Things are more serious, competitive and fair over there. The only expensive thing working tere is a place to stay, around (SGD 350-500), the rest are much more lower compared to MY, unless you are always doing the "currency exchange" thingy. With SGD100, you can actually survive more then a week. In MY, RM50 doesn't even last 1-2 days most of the time.
*
Ya....sometimes SGD50 can last more than a week on daily expenses.

it is not hard to get jobs in singapore with high pay if your have the experience they wan. But sometimes they will marginalize malaysians by offering us lower pay because we are malaysian and some companies will calculate the pay after converting SGD to RM so it will make it look like we had a huge pay jump. Please dont accept this, if your current pay is RM5k, demand for 25% hike in SGD or something like that. This is because, we r living in their country and there are alot of additional cost to bear especially the RENTAL part. Eating bread just to survive in SG?? better not...come back and eat rice with your family better coz its really not that worth it to be so lonely, eating bread and getting low pay.

Icic, so it means they can oni tax me for a year right? Do they calculate by fiscal year? or amount of days we're working in SG? let say i quite before 183 this year, i'm not taxable for this fiscal year, am i correct to say so?
*
errr....if u see my explanation, be4 183day, u are taxed 15%.....if less than 2 months, then u wont be taxed. If more than 184days, u r taxed using their normal tax system which will be much lower than the 15% tax

*
hahahha icic.
They will start counting from 1 again every year following the calander unless u r PR holder if not mistaken.
