QUOTE(chess_gal @ Feb 27 2008, 10:29 PM) Demanding SGD3.5k is quite unreasonable if you have less than 2 years experience. Just my 2 cents. I am not asking everyone to demand 3.5k...i am just saying if u can earn more than 3.5k in sg...go ahead. Less than that not worth it to me. To me, If less than 2 years experience and cannot earn more than 3.5k = Dun go lor But thats me la....coz i calculate everything....i put money above everythign else if i were to be away from my family becoz i dun like to be away from them. For me....i need to be earning alot more to justify the time i am away from them. This post has been edited by mIssfROGY: Feb 27 2008, 10:40 PM

QUOTE(chess_gal @ Feb 27 2008, 10:29 PM) I agree. Things here are relatively cheaper and salary is quite competitive. I worked in KL for a year with a salary of 2.1k as a professional (fresh graduate 2 yrs ago). The cost of travelling already took up almost 30% of my salary (Car Installment & petrol, toll), plus, the terrible jam and expensive meals around KL, in the end, I really have nothing in my savings. Being in Singapore, I can now afford to remit back RM2K back home every month and indulgence myself in branded items and not worry over my expenses. Demanding SGD3.5k is quite unreasonable if you have less than 2 years experience. Just my 2 cents. wei we're in the same firm now

QUOTE(cktwai @ Feb 27 2008, 10:52 PM) wei we're in the same firm now Hey Ct, which level are you in? Maybe we can meet for a lunch someday, I am at One Raffles Quay. But wont be long... got to go Tuas next week.. ... Where are you staying? Add me in msn. chess_gal@hotmail.com Missfroggy: Would be a bit unrealistic, (unless HSBC Management Trainee or some high flyers in Investment Bank or Sales) to demand 3.5k in the first 2 years of working (unless, a model or freelancer) But in corporate, not so often you can demand so higher. Of course I miss my family too as I am super close with my family but Singapore is still not too far as compare to Aus or US. Once I get used being away from family, then I shall venture further.

Yup Yup,
If I don't have a car and house installment to pay in Msia, I think I can afford an LV every 3 months! hahaha..
welcome to Singapore, the land of opportunities, the last year national tagline was 'Singapore, where dreams really come true' or something along that line.

I've applied to a few companies in SG related to SAP in which they are somewhat like an agent. They'll relocate you to their client side.
This is the part I'm confused at. Is the client or the recruiting company hiring?

Do note that you do not need to pay the recruitment agencies anything, as they will bill the company upon successful placement. Added on February 28, 2008, 12:13 pmQUOTE(mIssfROGY @ Feb 27 2008, 10:20 PM) sorry, i shd rephrase this. It really varies from cases to cases. For my case, I mean it does not justify the time i am spending away from my family for that kind of money. Its just too lil. If i wanna be away...it gotto be alot more and not what i can also earn in malaysia. And in malaysia, i do not need to pay rent, or makan out. For me, i calculate that also. Besides...most work in singapore for malaysians are contract base...they do not include bonuses/epf/etc and long term security with the company, they can kick you out anytime. but then again, its up to u guys. Sometimes, neva try neva know. When go there oredi you might have a better luck such as getting a better pay job or permanent jobs. Good Luck guys btw..wat i realised is everybody wana go singapore..and usually they calculate the money after exchange rate....they neva include the living expenses and also the bonus/epf/etc not included in their salary. End up....after calculation malaysia seemed to pay a higher salary. So these people usually willing to take a paycut in SGD thinking that its still higher...but in actual fact its not worth it unless u r thinking of migrating or dun mind being away from family or wanna start a life in singapore. But if u r going purely for the money, its not worth it. But if u r getting an offer which is higher than your salary perannum in SGD, by all means go ahead. Just informing you guys not to be too excited when get offer and jump. Oh Dear Miss Froggy You will make a good wife... or is it an occupation hazards which you're closely associated with numbers? AnimeAsia; Dyong is right, but then again these are the agencies i am warning everyone about. They can kick u out after the companies do not wan your service, but then again on the bright side.....u might get permanent with the company u r working for if they like you, or u can start looking for permanent jobs when u r there coz its easier if u r there. And u can always raise your concern to the agencies about not being hired anymore after the contract with the company is over...see what they say about that....maybe they can help u. Dyong; goof wife?? y do u say that? because i am calculative?? I am like that in nature.. This post has been edited by mIssfROGY: Feb 28 2008, 12:36 PM

CPF in Singapore is Identical to Malaysia's EPF. you can go to www.cpf.gov.sg to check out the details.
CPF returns pathetic interest rates of 3.5% PA.
Depending on your Residence status, you may want to consider whether opt-in/out of CPF contribution.

What they mean by this? This is a contract position. Is it means they will deduct my salary and contribute to CPF once im become a PR? This post has been edited by zzoom18: Feb 28 2008, 04:15 PM

Thanks Dyong and mIssfROGY.
By the way, do SG even hire SAP Trainee? So far I've seen they hire only the experienced 1.
