just some thing to think about when focusing too much on the S&P500 indexes as a benchmark or "sailang' in bcos of it past many many years of good performance...

Pick those UT that has a good past record of beating benchmark for over 5 or 10 year?

Why not pick those benchmark against indices like sp500, nikkei index, stoxx?

It is all in the UT factsheet right?
*
Not all UT used index benchmarks 🤦‍♀️ because they know 1stly they can’t beat the market and secondly to satisfy their owns hence they set the benchmark internally and yet still cannot beat it 🤦‍♀️

Doesn’t matter in the factsheet or not 🤦‍♀️ or benchmark the most important whose is the actual portfolio manager and how is the person performance in managing fund and the tenure of it

everyone is comparing anything against sp500 now, but will it continue to outperform other market every year, and will everyone be able to go through the flat cycle?

just want to highlight that picking UT is like picking stock or etf,
if u don wan to spend anytime picking a good UT that can beat index, then just go with index etf

Since the above Annualised numbers below EPF Dividend rate, should I just cash out and put in EPF

Picking UT 🤦‍♀️ is not like picking stocks 🤦‍♀️ UT you put your trust in the fund manager 🤦‍♀️ while stocks and ETF picks are based on what the criteria set by the person whether it is financial, management or even macroeconomics 🤦‍♀️ so you cannot compare UT with stocks or ETFs

Compile the sums withdrawn throughout the years you took out from EPS to invest in PM against declared EPF divs and see...

i do not have the capital info as this UT was "inherited"

But in the last 7 years... it only had capital appreciation of 22% as of November 2023

Ok, can do a quick comparison, let's take the actual declared historical dividends from 2017 to 2022.

Let's say you withdrawn a sum of 10k at the end of 2016 to invest in PM. Running this sum compounded over 6 years from 2017 until 2022, you get a capital appreciation of 40.55%, Vs your 7 years 22%

EPF div data
2017 6.9%, 2018 6.15%, 2019 5.45%, 2020 5.2%, 2021 6.10%, and 2022 5.35%

Try not to focus so much on the annualised returns especially if the periods is long....as past performance is not a sure indicator of same or would be same future performances

I remembered Few years ago..... the annualised returns of many UT funds are above the average epf rates. Last time, FSM did came out with a list of funds that hv annualised returns that beats epf too.

If few years ago, you had those similar annualised return rate data of UT funds which shown above Epf rate, ...many people would hv asked
..."Since the above Annualised numbers below above EPF Dividend rate, should I just cash out EPF and put in UT?
I beliefs Many did.

Attached image is one those published articles about UT beating kwsp (last time)

Many Investors had allocations to fi and eq.
Try to use that epf money as part of your fi allocation.

If the complaint unit of a bank is unable to resolve our issue, we may escalate the matter to Bank Negara Malaysia.

As such, whom should we approach, if Public Mutual is unable to resolve our issue? In other words, what is the regulatory authority of Public Mutual?

Securities Commission, perhaps?

Thank you for your information.

Hi, may I know any sales charges or fee incurred when we sell back public mutual funds, if we buy via each cash or epf?

Hi all, I have PM for quite some years. But I'm very noob til i dun understand most of the info in the monthly/yearly statement except profit or minus. Tat's why i neglected PM. Recently, I try absorb as much knowledge as possible.

I look at the statement, the performance is not that great. As many here even return back to EPF... so i'm wondering is it because of the funds i invested is not the right one or is memang is not as great EPF?

I'm thinking whether i should give it a second chance or just return back to EPF...

Kindly advice. Thx!

Use a worksheet. Back calculate all your investment assuming you put in EPF and see what the amount would have been and compare against your current value of PM

simple answer : move it back to EPF
Concise answer compare the funds from the day you put in capital from EPF + dividends calcuilcate if you didnt put in PM). if in PM less than EPF "backcast", go back to simple answer.

Hi sifus ....... I got a small PM funds last time invest with angpow money long time ago. To cut it short, its a small pocket of funds I didn't use for a long time, so like two years back or so my agent (more like my mom's agent) intro us to switch the investment to some china base investment that is under PM of some sort, we switch, but recently check with agent the funds growth are pityful ...... like RM91 bucks for a roughly 6k+ funds.

I wanna know is it wise to sit those small funds there and don't bother? Or waste time to keep there and just take them out to put somewhere else? I'm a total noob at this and the only investment I pump is asnb. This seems like not worth holding to pray for a miricle to happen.

you still got profits, ...while some others are still in red in their China focused funds.

since it is just a small pockets angpow money you had used,
After 2 yrs of experiencing investment, how fo you feel now?what have you learnt "emotionally"?
Do you feel you don't liked the returns of just Rm91 with your 6k investment? It could uv been a loss of 3k too if you had invested just few years earlier.
If you liked to have a more stable rm300 pa returns with your 6k, can try put it into kwsp

if you want to invest lazily, you can try ASMx funds or put in EPF (only can take out when you reach 50/55)
