Public mutual seem performing bad.
Even EPF based investment did many years ago, giving return much lower than EPF itself.

Are there any other mutual fund bank/companies doing better than PM?
Can anyone recommend?

When EPF gives you option to buy UT it is unlikely to perform well in 10 years at least hence do you think why EPF gives that option πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Don’t buy into whether bank or companies but buy into actual ETF instead rather than still throwing money into UT because you in the losing paying management fees and fund fees

What is the Public Mutual fund that you have invested through EPF-MIS? Did they now appear better given the weakened ringgit?

Update for my previous post:

Has been waiting for the distribution announcement for FYE 30/6/2023, but no announcement made.
The annual report (FYE 30/6/2023) for the fund finally available.
After the net loss on investment of RM128.7M (FY2022 - likely from top glove), this was part of the UNREALIZED LOSS of RM176M in FY2022.

Of course you have to cut loss right?
When you cut loss in FY2023, this become REALIZED loss of RM81M.
So the loss carry forward to FY2023 and no income distribution for the first time since 2014.

Lesson: KNOW YOUR FUND MANAGER AND STUDY THEIR PROFILE AND ACHIEVEMENT, IF NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE, AVOID THE MUTUAL FUND AT ALL COST. BECAUSE DONKEY DONT KNOW CUT LOSS AND YOU WILL LOSS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
IT IS BETTER YOU BUY MAYBANK SHARE EVERY MONTH AND EARN 6% - 6.5% DIVIDEND EVERY YEAR, THEN REINVEST THE DIVIDEND BACK TO MAYBANK SHARE.

What can agent they do πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ when do not have the power to do asset allocation and investment decisions

The problem lies in the CIO and the fund portfolio managers who are managing loss making funds with bad investment decisions

Agent won’t be bother about that πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ because their goal is hit their sales target, commissions and incentive trips πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I can tell you 1st hand those successful UT agents never invest their money in their funds that they are selling πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so why should you

If the CIO and portfolio managers cannot beat the benchmark and losing money year on year πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so why do you think agent is stupid enough to invest the funds

From my most recent used fund comparison data in my earlier posting in lyn.

Look at the number of times this ut fund beat benchmark.

So why don’t we invest in some UT that constantly beat their benchmark? Instead of focus on how many fund underperform benchmark πŸ˜… is it that hard to pick UT that constantly beat benchmark out of all the available UT in the market?

Is not hard πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ but in the 1st place do you trust that UT portfolio manager able to beat the markets in the 1st place

History already shows that more than 90% UT are losing money and underperforming the benchmark itself πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ even though they set a lower and easier benchmark to beat

If you don't trust the benchmark set by the fund.
If you don't like the level set for the benchmark for funds.

Don't say or use "beat the benchmark of the fund" as one of the criteria for selecting fund or arguing about the performance of the fund.

Pick those UT that has a good past record of beating benchmark for over 5 or 10 year?

Why not pick those benchmark against indices like sp500, nikkei index, stoxx?

It is all in the UT factsheet right?

The problem is their past performance might just be a fluke and they are not consistent.

Take for example kenanga growth fund , used to be able to beat the benchmark but now cannot anymore.

A lot of china funds used to be able to beatingvthe benchmark but now no longer cannot.

So what fund do you think can beat snp500 ?
