I thought wax does the same job as coating just that wax needs to be reapplied every 2 - 3 months.

Heard that bird droppings will "eat" into coatings, unless you wash it off straight away. You will then have to apply the coat over that area again, which is not cheap.

With this limited understanding in mind, I've decided to wax instead of coat

it does not straight away eat up your coating, if u clean asap then should be fine

Not really. Wax gives ur car shine and a lil more water proofing to your paint and that's it and often very thin. Coating is much thicker than wax hence the durability. My coating needs to do maintenance twice per year but free for 1st session.

Due to the thickness, bird droppings and scratch will not immediately affect the body paint but with just wax, a light scratch will immediately affect your paint and dependning on the extent of the scratch, you may or may not save it by waxing thoroughly. biggrin.gif

have a microfibre cloth and turtle wax quick detailer in your car all the time so when you have any bird droppings you can remove it quickly. You can get it in EON

Was quoted by Soft 99 glass coating (5 years warranty) at RM2400 i think...

Still go on traditional wash & wax. Wax it once a month, pretty rewarding after the hardwork, took ard 2 hours to wash & wax, using soft 99 liquid wax. Save me RM72 (RM12 for wash & vacuum, RM60 for wax)

New Mazda 2 owner reporting

Mazda 2 Sedan Red in colour

Going for 1st service in few days, any service center to recommend? Staying at Kepong, don't mind travelling as long as the service is good.

I'm a lazy guy so I send to car wash shop.

The only part I'm not sure what to do are the leather seats. I've asked around and some say just use a leather cleaning solution, some say use baby oil.

Read online and people are saying there is a urethane coating on your leather seats that is the one that you must treat, and not the actual animal skin itself because of this coating over it. So have to find a leather cleaning solution that replaces/helps preserve the coating because it wears off overtime. I don't know lah!!! doh.gif

It has been discussed a lot already. If you need a family car Honda City is ur car, if you want sportiness, M2 is ur car, if you want empty value for money den Almera is ur car, if you are Toyota fan boy den Vios is God car. laugh.gif
I usually just change the rotor as it can last about 2-3 years for me. laugh.gif

I am interested with M2.
Just would like to understand more of the aspect such as resale value, maintenance cost and other.
Need to know whether worth to buy.
I try Vios and City is a bit plastic.

I'm using something similar but from Megular. I used Turtlewax rubbing compound to "unscratch" my wife's mystique purple Myvi. laugh.gif
Regret never do coating for that car. sweat.gif

Just look for leather treatment solution (spray type) from Turtlewax or Megula's. They should be sufficient. icon_rolleyes.gif

Resale value based on history u can forget about it if you choose Mazda (whichever model) but I have confidence Mazda RV will catch up in the future though not sure about M2 yet. Maintenance cost is pretty much standard for engine oil, air filter, oil filter, etc but Mazda and Nissan give 3 years or 60000km whichever comes 1st. After that 3 years, drive shaft, suspensions, bearings, etc would probably hurt more than the other brands. In this sense, Nissan would cost the lowest. laugh.gif

Plastic feel is pretty standard for all cars but M2 feels a bit more premium due to the PU leather finishing and carbon fiber trim here and there. Plus the MZD connect screen and the control knob feels like BMW or Audi. thumbup.gif

All the things I said in my previous post still stands. If you intend to buy as family car and travel long distance with family, you should consider Honda City. Vios only selling point is the projector headlamp and resale value. laugh.gif

a good value car still the honda city. even honda hater must to admit that. it practical, stylish, good resale value, cheaper maintenance, more airbag.
It still the king of everyday hero car in Malaysia.

But when come to something around the hairpin, mazda do better.
it the "most" beautiful car in B segment (my personal opinion). none in B segment can beat it interior sexiness (where you gonna be for whole driving time).
Mazda 2 owners claim the 2 drive lot better than city (fun to drive) and it most fuel saving car (base on paultan review).

everyday hero - city
spirited driver - 2

vios - i dun see any good beside the RV and maintenance cost.

Yes. You also have choice to put colored film. biggrin.gif

...cheaper maintenance...

I would like to say from personal experience (My mom drove a Honda City and I drove a Vios both cars about same age). Honda City maintenance (parts price besides engine oil, filters, brake pads and tyres) is higher than Vios. I have colleague driving Almera and most parts, Almera's is the cheapest. So Honda maintenance is only cheaper than Mazda but not cheaper than Toyota or Nissan. Nissan parts are the cheapest by the books. laugh.gif

Almera < Vios < City < 2 < Fiesta

I think we really have no idea, because M2 owner still have 3 years free maintenance.
The price and availability of parts are generally determine by how popular is the car model.
M2 is global model, and if it's CBU in thailand, I think the parts will not be difficult to get. Just hope that more M2 will be sold in Malaysia.
BTW, anyone know how long is the waiting list for M2 now??

And if it's CX5, people will not even think twice, because it's everywhere in malaysia, so it must be affordable to own one.
