M2 i-Stop should give some savings in trafficlight conditions. I noticed in one of my test drive that more brake force is required to activate the i-Stop. Yet, very little brake force is required to brake during normal drive, I could just rest my feet on the brake pedal and it would gives a lot of braking power to the car. I wonder would anyone be unaware that because if the brake pedal is not pressed harder, the i-Stop won't function, hence, giving lower FC. Maybe they could have better FC in city if i-Stop is properly utilised.
*
I've read in the manual that there's this brake assist thing that helps you with how much brake pressure you have to use. I'm not sure if it is available for Malaysian variant. As it sounds like a i active sense to me which is not part of our variant.

I've never had this brake issue. The only time when I don't get istop to work is during hot weather (my aircon is at full blast and put very low temp.) or my car is on a slope. Even small slopes will not allow me to go into istop mode. Other than that, everytime I expect it to work, it works. I'm so used to it that I don't have to look at my dashboard anymore to know if istop will kick in or not.

i noticed that this will be happen during cold start, especially morning hmm.gif

Nope don't have sound coming from there. I have sound from the front ceiling part of the car, near where the lights are. It vibrates when I go thru bumps, but when I hold it firm the sound is gone. So I'm gonna ask SC to see if they have a solution for me.

I remember someone also mentioned "tick tick" sound from odometer. I don't have that.

that looks pretty big. Go back to your auto-detailing shop and see if they can do anything about it. If you're lucky, it's the coating that got peeled off and the white thing is just a stain. Else you will need to repaint it. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Tomohito Ren @ Apr 13 2015, 10:23 AM)
just want to ask how much does it cost to do coating for mazda 2 and also price for wrapping the car. still contemplating on which to do
*
From what I understand from asking people who has done coating, it does not really protect against stone chips as much as you expect it to, unless you're talking about paint protection film (ppf), but that sh*t is very very the expensive apparently. Coating and ppf are 2 different products. That's what I've gathered so far.

I've not done any coating, I'm relying on waxing to protect my paint which does the same job as coating. Just have to pray that you don't get stone chips. Driving as "slow" as 80km/h is not slow for a stone chip, try hurling a stone at 80km/h at someone and see if they get hurt or not.

It doesn't give 100% protection. Even ppf has it's limits. But it will save your car from small stone chipping. Waxing does not protect your paint against scratches, bird droppings and other chemicals. icon_idea.gif

No la. Matte look is either paint or sticker. No coating can give you matte look 1. laugh.gif

It's just sort of a name given to compare the durability. laugh.gif
*
I thought wax does the same job as coating just that wax needs to be reapplied every 2 - 3 months.

Heard that bird droppings will "eat" into coatings, unless you wash it off straight away. You will then have to apply the coat over that area again, which is not cheap.

With this limited understanding in mind, I've decided to wax instead of coat

Usually u guys wax urself? Or u go to some car care shop n let them do it? I not realky good about car.
*
I'm a lazy guy so I send to car wash shop.

The only part I'm not sure what to do are the leather seats. I've asked around and some say just use a leather cleaning solution, some say use baby oil.

Read online and people are saying there is a urethane coating on your leather seats that is the one that you must treat, and not the actual animal skin itself because of this coating over it. So have to find a leather cleaning solution that replaces/helps preserve the coating because it wears off overtime. I don't know lah!!! doh.gif

sorry mouse double click glitch, double post. anyway i edit this post.

little-sama. it would be nice the mention summary of m2 problem in the front page.

- back fender not well welding
- below car not well welding
- tire hard to find
- no space for handphone
- rain noise
*
The not well welding part should be clarified as a "problem" to the aesthetics of the car which is not very visible, rather than a safety problem unless some engineer here can confirm this.

Space for handphone should be clarified as limited space to place a phone holder. There's no need to have a special place to put your phone unless you need it as a GPS/for whatever reason you need to look at your phone while driving. For calls only, it can be connected via bluetooth so there's no reason to have a clear view of your phone (can still answer calls while it is in your pocket).

Dear Expert murasame85,

I narrow down some of my concern:

1) Those who bought M2, do you all concern about the resale value? example if you want to change to a better car, will it a concern for you to sell a better price? Since everyone is mentioning the value is low, is it means you purchase RM89k but selling off with only RM10k?

2) Service and labor parts for a long run? (do not assume all are wealthy)

Other than that is till acceptable for me.
*
1) The reason why I am willing to buy a Mazda is because I don't plan to sell it so soon. As someone pointed out, after 5 - 7 years the resale value between a H and a M is different but minimal. If you're planning to sell in 2 - 3 years time, the difference can be huge.

2) I have a service schedule which my SA shared with me which includes GST, assuming the price list doesn't change after the 3 years or 60,000km whichever is earlier, the average cost of maintenance including parts and labour and GST is about RM360. Please take note that I have averaged out the cost by adding the total of each service interval (which is a combo of minor and major service) then divide by 11. It only shows me till the 11th service or 100,000km or 5 years. It does not include costs like changing spare parts like brake disc, suspension and the usual stuff that you need to change from wear and tear.

It shows engine oil, oil filter, packing/gasket, air filter, cabin filter, fuel pump - feed filter, fuel filter, brake fluid..only

I can't rememer what coolant was it that the maintenance guy told me that does not need to be changed at all for the entire lifetime of the car, engine coolant? or is it air con coolant?..can't remember leh.

but m3 spec and price is tempting tho.  tongue.gif

I see. Sounds like it's the choice between getting a 2nd child or the m3. The answer so obvious - get the m3!! LOL

Yeah Mazda is supposedly the Mercedes of Japan.

But to fit into the budget of Malaysia, they have to take out alot of stuff from the original, otherwise where can sell @ RM85k..

You mean how the rear lamp looks like when it is litted?

*
Har? Normal? I think it's a defect because some cars got some cars don't have. Unless you're saying that all M2 has that sound, then yes it's "normal", although to me it will still sound like a defect. It's annoying when you have all these sounds coming from inside your car.

i dont hear that tic tac sound from the driver side air-cond vent...
but some annoying sound from the dashboard when the poor road condition, i suspect the sound came from the HUD there
*
Dude check the area above you near the front ceiling light switch area which is near your rear mirror. Press up on around that area and see, because I have sounds coming from there which I initially thought was from my hud there. When I apply some pressure above, the sound stops which means the sound is coming from there

Anyone driving with sports mode on 24/7 yet? Cause that's what I plan to do after driving the car for my first 1000km (serviced this morning) without it. Did about 620 km with Ron 97 in the last tank.

So now it's time to test my baby out, will start playing with paddle shifts too to control the revving. I'll report back on the mileage that I've lost from this endeavor to see the difference in Fc. Haha

The spoiler doesnt looks like the one someone posted earlier, the US or UK one which is transparent black 1. The 1 I saw is red colour with brake light. Woohoo~ (if not mistaken its same as JPN de ba?)
*
Yeah they took it out for Asian markets just like the original armrest, i-active sense, DRL lights, airbags etc. The spoiler was on the diesel sedan show unit during the launch, but the SA told me that it won't come with our sedan variant.

The black spoiler is different, it is part of their sport kit that you can add on when you buy your car (not sure about the price). The kit will come with black spoiler, black skirtings, rims and side mirrors will be sprayed black as well.

Hi, no need to speed til 180kmh. Just cruise along at 100kmh in normal mode, then switch on sport mode.

If the transmission downshifts to 5th gear, and does not upshift back to 6th even with very light throttle (or using the paddle shifter), that means the 6th gear has been locked out.

Nobody has an answer?
*
Let me try this tomorrow.

Edit: Oh wait, you mean with auto-transmission on. That's the thing, usually I have sports mode + manual transmission together.

Sports mode + auto-transmission will just rev the car till 4000rpm which I think is overkill. Usually I would switch gear only after 2000rpm (switching on sports mode would be pointless if changing before 2000rpm), but before touching 4000, usually.

How you go full M bro? I see D-M duno how to go full M. Or there is none?
*
You must be kidding me. sweat.gif

When your gear is at "D", push it towards the right (towards you). It will switch from D to M, that's wht D-M means, means you can move from D -->M or vice versa. You can now use your paddle shifters like F1 racer.

When you use your paddle shifts when in D, you'll only be on M mode for awhile then it will auto switch back to D.

I'd also suggest that you off sport mode while switching from M to D, so that your car doesn't over rev for no good reason. Under D + Sport mode, the car changes gear only at very high revs.
