If you do not travel often and only go on those package tours, it may be more convenient to get the travel insurance for the duration of your tour from the travel company that you are going on tour with. Most are agents for some major insurance company, just make sure they are recognised ones. I think the coverage and premiums are pretty much the same so may not save much if you hunt around for the best deals.

Bought travel insurance from MSIG and lost my iPhone during my trip to Melbourne last month. Thought i could make a claim but was told that they do not insure loss of cameras, mobile phones etc. cry.gif Gotta blame myself for not reading the fineprints, but then again.. who will expect one would lose her mobile phone during a trip?

Does AXA cover loss of phones and cameras?

^Usually lost baggage by airline can claim. But lost phone, I'm not sure.

Anyway, if you really did lose your phone, you'll have to make a police report and then only you can make the claim. If you got no police report and just tell them you lost your phone, they won't bother. Even if you lost your wallet or got robbed, you'll have to make a police report in order to claim your insurance.

Supposedly your flight got cancelled and the airline put you on the next available flight, do you get compensated for travel delay? Let's see how many people it right.

Guys,

Airasia is offering their travel insurance, GoInsure if I am not mistaken. Since my credit card is offering travel insurance as well if I charge air ticket to my cc, should I consider to buy this GoInsure? Does it like redundant?

Let say, GoInsure pay RM100 for every hour delay to our original scheduled time while my cc also pay the same rate, can I claim from both of them which mean I will get RM200 for every hour delay?

Another situation, GoInsure pay for delay flight. If my flight has been rescheduled (they call/sms/email/inform a week/2 weeks in advance) from original time, say, Oct 10 at 10am to Oct 10 10pm. 12 hours different. Can I file a claim for this case?

Thank you.

Hi guys,

Serious question:

I flew to Manila recently, and on the flight back, I was stopped from flying due to red eye. As a result, I had to seek medical treatment in Manila, but worst of which was that I had to spend an additional 4 days in a hotel resting my eye, until it recovered enough for me to fly back.

After I went back, I checked with my flight insurance (yes I bought travel insurance attached to the flight ticket), and also my credit card travel insurance, but none of them seem to allow me to claim for the 4 days of accommodation.

Questions:
1. do you guys know if this accommodation is claimable?
2. do you know which travel insurance will cover such situations if this happens again the future?
3. do you know what the procedures are to make such claims?

Appreciate it a lot!

Thanks,
Mark

looks like cannot claim... insurance sucks when you pay extra to get false sense of security.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows good travel insurance to buy? I came across travel insurance clubs to join, as a mobile phone application, on myTravelSOS? My wife and I are going to Spain for a couple of weeks this spring, and need to join one of these insurance clubs. Each one offers a great deal on travel medical and legal insurance, but I'm not sure which one to join. The cheapest one costs about 15 dollars. I googled other travel insurance, and couldn't find any that offer legal insurance as well as a virtual personal assistant. If anyone has information on cheaper travel insurance that has the same features, or if you have experience with myTravelSOS insurance and have advice for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Looking at the attached policy:

In the event of an Accident happening during the Trip, if the Insured Person suffers
bodily injury which results in his death or disablement, the Company will, subject to
the exclusions, limitations, provisions and terms of the Policy, pay compensation as
provided in the Table of Compensation below

while the definition of "Trip" refers to the period between the Commencement of Cover and
Expiry of Cover.

Hope it helps

There is no point asking which insurance is best if nobody every claimed from that insurance company before to know how good/bad they are.

So it would be better to ask, who has made a insurance claim and how's their experience.

Claimed once for a trip fellow to Macau.
All luggage arrived, except his.

Check with airline luggage counter (lost/unclaimed counter).
They check/call and confirm luggage still in KL.
Next flight is confirmed next day, so ... yahoo! full claim icon_rolleyes.gif
Remember to get a form/letter from this counter to acknowledge the luggage is delay, and when collect the time, there is another/same form/letter, for you to submit for insurance claim. Very important.

Read the fine print, there are roughly 3-levels of claim:
1) Less than 2-4 hours = RM200
2) 4-6-8 hours = RM400-600
3) >6-8 hours = max RM600-800

So, we go shopping for everyone, of course the receipts must be valid/reasonable. Cannot simply taruh also, although most are in Chinese words or hand-written.
The person manage the buy RM400+, the rest utilise by other members.

Come back, call agent. Submit claim.
Max full claim within few weeks thumbup.gif

Just wondering,

If I already have sufficient (I guess) medical/hospitalization cover from my existing insurance plans (that also cover overseas), does it really make sense to buy a separate travel insurance?

Cos I see all the T&C, the biggest covered things are medical/hospitalization (which I already have coverage). And refund of tickets/hotel booking if trip is cancelled, but this is only when the trip is cancelled due to like death, natural disaster, etc etc.

Bags coverage even if lose luggage also don't get that much money re-imbursed hmm.gif

Which insurance gives this level of claims?
The one I buy only RM200 for 6 hours. RM400 for 12 hrs
Thanks
