I wanted to pose this question to the forum since so many of you have valuable experience traveling. My question is should I get the use of good travel medical and evacuation insurance? If yes, may you be so kind to share the insurance agency.

I am planning on a trip from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Nepal and India for couple of months. During that period I may be exposed to potential diseases. Initially I had planned on not. While not ones to take health lightly I will be carry a medical aid kit and paracetamol, etc.

While I agree it is important to travel safe, is it absolutely necessary or is it a convenience thing to get an insurance? Can you share your experiences with or without a travel insurance or share basic preventive precautions that will benefit to all of us here.
Thanks

I did a search but didn't see much being discussed on travel insurance.

Most travel insurance out there will cover medical benefits, travel cancellation/curtailment, etc. I'm wondering if there are companies that will let me pick and choose what coverage I want. I already have my own medical insurance, I only want coverage for travel cancellation/curtailment.

I'm being quoted close to RM1k because the insurance companies are bundling everything in, for a trip that's costing around RM10k which doesn't make much sense to me. biggrin.gif I guess that's how they make money biggrin.gif

Got-lah & I merged now biggrin.gif Can try Maybank Travel Insurance. Easier to buy & cheap. I just bought a family plan for a week to Aussie for RM100/duration of 1 wk
Atleast inclusive of medical care that AAX insurance failed to provide

Which plan did you choose? I find all the plans very confusing...

Plan B RM100- the cheapest for sure blush.gif for detail click here: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/eINS_AirTravel_bch.pdf

Certain amt of sum insure might be lower than AAX coverage but atleast cover medical. AAX insurance don't cover this incase you fall sick & needs medical attention or warded for something not related to personal accident.. Too bad this cheaper scheme also exclude baggage delay & flight cancellation.. For this coverage, need to choose plan A blush.gif

Can skip for those risk taker. But advisable to take if you want to feel secure and incase u do not want to be burden with emergency accident/incident during travelling.. Medical cost in certain countries can be very expensive.

I hv merged your topic. Do look into alternative travel insurance from past postings here..
