Read the fine print, there are roughly 3-levels of claim:
1) Less than 2-4 hours = RM200
2) 4-6-8 hours = RM400-600
3) >6-8 hours = max RM600-800

Which insurance gives this level of claims?
The one I buy only RM200 for 6 hours. RM400 for 12 hrs
Thanks

I was quoting roughly from my mind, since it was a roaming call from overseas.
The point is, the luggage delay claim is staggered by X hours.
I did not check further, as the claim is submitted by the other person.

Hi folks wave.gif

Would like to ask to those who travel frequently, long period, travel far, and do lots of outdoor activities.
Do you buy proper Insurance coverage (that is not AA) that covers from flight all the way to theft and injuries?

How do you pick one?
Do you buy per travel coverage, or subscribe to annual/longer term contract terms?
Which one is recommended? True experiences?

ie: I will be out of country for 20days, and I may be doing some hikings.

^Make sure the travel insurance that you choose covers hospitalization and medical expenses also.

I travel at least 4-5 times a year and do lots of scuba diving. I bought Chartis Annual Travel Insurance, includes theft, hospitalization, flight delay/cancelled, trip cancellation, luggage lost, etc. I have to add another package to include coverage for leisure scuba diving. Do check if the insurance you pick will cover the hikings.

Thanks for all these infos.
In the end i went with AXA because it just a walking distance from my house lol.
The personal who entertain my inquiries really helpful to get me answered. the delays only covers specifically flights ONLY. bullet trains and ferry isnt. however transportation that leads to the flight will be covered within 4hours.also applicable to plane only.

Oh well. my priority would be injuries n medical. But paying these upfront n claim later is normal, isnt it?

Make sure you bring your travel insurance card/documents along with you cause if the amount is big and no prove of insurance, some hospitals might not want to provide treatment.

If small amount, just pay first then claim after you come back.

Normally, I also use Chartis. Like what munkeyflo pointed out, bring along the travel insurance documents with you. Make an extra copy, put in a plastic bag and keep it safe. One inside your luggage, the other inside your backpack/handbags etc.

Yeah, easy and fast to make claims from AXA.
Forward completed forms and all relevant receipts and document.

Best part - no need for hard copy - all done through email.
Done 2 claims so far - flight delay & missed connection; baggage delay thumbup.gif

munkeyflo, check AXA VIP package. They already include leisure scuba dive into the package and I am currently changing from MSIG to AXA too.

Ooh okay. Thanks for the info. I was actually gonna buy Chartis Annual insurance today since going to Manado this weekend. Will look into AXA. Thanks! biggrin.gif

Edit: Called up AXA (03-21667777) and already purchased their SmartTraveller annual insurance gold plan, total RM320 nett for area 3. Their customer service staff was not very friendly and she was quite reluctant to answer my questions when I first called to enquire about their plan. But the other staff that help me process my purchase was very friendly and I got the confirmation documents thru my email 5 minutes after I got off the phone with him. laugh.gif

Tried to purchase online but the online thingy only supports IE up to version 8.0 so no choice, I called them up direct. rclxub.gif

As I've searched for anything related to this on Lowyat, I couldn't find any advises/recommendations. I hope it's alright I started a thread.

I will be travelling to Shanghai and HK this December.

Will be flying with Air Asia for my flights from :

KL - Hangzhou
Hong Kong - KL

Will be flying with Spring Airlines (China's domestic airline) from :

Shanghai - Hong Kong

Seeing Air Asia offers their own insurance, I guess it's no brainer to get it from them but my main question is for my flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong, who/which company should I purchase from? I've checked Spring Airline's website and they do not offer their own insurance.

Any recommendations? Thanks alot guys.

I will be travelling alone to these countries for 2 weeks so I'm not too sure if Air Asia's travel insurance works for me. Any advises?

Really appreciate any help you guys can give. This is my first time abroad and alone.

Thanks again.

Buy from outside which will cover the entire route. They count by days.

Get other travel insurance. Don't have to bother about AA travel insurance.
Travel insurance will count how many days you are travelling and also the region where you are travelling. For some of us that travel a lot, we buy the annual package. For those who travel only once in a while, you will pay for how long you want. Contact your insurance agent or check out some travel insurance websites.

When I used Chartis, I bought thru my agent. Now I've changed to AXA and you can purchase it via online or over the phone, just have to provide your credit card details and they'll email you the details within an hour.
