QUOTE(Cutie_Tweetie @ Nov 1 2010, 10:41 PM) Hi All, Just to share my experience buying travel insurance from AXA Affin today. Went to their Head Office to make a purchase on a VIP Plan as we were travelling to Bangkok for 5 days, all 3 of us. VIP Plan costs RM 32 each and the lady that processed my application told me there's a discount given for walk-in customers. I just need to pay RM 72 instead of RM 96 for the 3 of us! This also applies to the Classic Plan. So perhaps next time anyone of you could call & enquire. Yup, I usually buy from AXA too coz my friend works there - ask her to buy for me got 25% discount. Hehe. http://www.axa.com.my/123/en/Personal-Insu.../SmartTravellerI always pick the VIP plan coz it's not that expensive also. Quite affordable. Maybe since she help me buy means 'walk in price'??? Hehe, will do that next time since she's already resign and leaving the company before my next trip in Sept. Great tip there Cutie!

For me, i usually buy AXA's travel insurance.
If you deal direct with the insurance company - there will be a 'walk-in' price even if you buy via online/email.
AXA's benefits are really good provided if you buy the VIP one and the price isn't expensive at all.

QUOTE(Argiope @ Aug 24 2011, 11:42 AM) Yup understand that. I called MSIG to ask whether phone was stolen can claim anot they said cannot so i didn't bother to file a police report. But i'll make sure my next travel insurance covers these small small things. HTH. This is for AXA VIP Smart Traveller. Handphone & other belonging should fall under the highlighted portion. QUOTE 3. What are the covers / benefits provided? This policy under VIP plan covers: Accidental death and permanent disablement Child education fund Medical, hospital and other expenses Compassionate visitation benefit (due to hospitalization of the Insured Person) Alternative medicine Compassionate visitation benefit (due to Insured Person’s death) Child care benefit Medical treatment in Malaysia Hospital allowance Quarantined cover as a result of pandemic influenza Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation Repatriation of mortal remains Baggage and personal effects Personal money and documents Baggage delay Travel delay Loss of deposit or cancellation Travel curtailment Travel overbooked Travel misconnection Hijacking inconveniences Missed departure Travel reroute Loss of deposit or full payment due to insolvency of airlines Loss of credit card Personal liability Home care benefit Rental car excess cover Ransom payment as a result of kidnapping & hostage. Edited to add: All loss has to have police report from the country you are visiting. Once you have the police report, can submit it to claim with your policy. Hi,
Regardless of travelling to really under developed countries or not, I will still buy travel insurance.
As travel insurance not only cover if you have gotten yourself into accident, it also covers for flight delays, hotel not honouring your booking and also lost of baggage and many more.
It's not that expensive IMO.
I usually buy from AXA and if you pay direct to them, you'll save up a further 25% (usually this is paid to agents if you buy from them).
The most i paid for was less than RM100 for my 12 day trips to Europe these past few years.
