Before I purchased, I collected all the infos from almost every companies that offered travel insurance and what I can conclude is that they are offering more or less the same coverage. Some comp lack this coverage but others have and vice versa. To me this one is good, not the best, but the coverage is more or less the same and depend on what plan (the total sum insured). The choice is yours

Citibank provides it whenever I use them to buy the plane tickets. Not sure how good are they though.

Hi All,
Just to share my experience buying travel insurance from AXA Affin today. Went to their Head Office to make a purchase on a VIP Plan as we were travelling to Bangkok for 5 days, all 3 of us. VIP Plan costs RM 32 each and the lady that processed my application told me there's a discount given for walk-in customers. I just need to pay RM 72 instead of RM 96 for the 3 of us! This also applies to the Classic Plan. So perhaps next time anyone of you could call & enquire. |

Hi, I'm finding some answer about travel insurance and this is the 'newest' thread on it. I am thinking taking travel insurance for my 2 weeks trip but I'm still blurred on few aspect. I had been going through HSBC Travelsafe and MSIG website.
Say if I buy the insurance now for June's trip and the flight was cancelled due to volcanic ashes issue in UK, will I get to claim even though I haven't started on my trip? I'm worried about the volcano eruption cause all my Eurostar ticket and hotels were already paid. Note : I'm planning to buy 2 weeks insurance with spouse. Is only hospitalisation in overseas will be eligible for claims? How about outpatient treatment for illness like food poisoning etc? How does one claim for the medical treatment? Just like the way we claim in Malaysia - show the hospital our policy cert/card and request letter of guarantee from insurance provider's hotline? I had bought HSBC Travelsafe before for a short trip but didn't do any claim at that time, so I wonder whether it's better than MSIG or not.Thanks. |

Maybe since she help me buy means 'walk in price'??? Hehe, will do that next time since she's already resign and leaving the company before my next trip in Sept. Great tip there Cutie! |

Some credit cards do offer travel insurance too if the tickets are charged using the cards. What would be the difference between such travel insurance compared to the ones provided by AA and AXA? Would it be sufficient to just rely on the credit card's travel package?

Because of the limited effectiveness of its provisions, travel insurance is primarily recommended by personal financial consultants for clients' incidental needs & not as the core life risk management program/ plan of an individual. Consult a licensed personal financial advisor for better understanding.

For me, i usually buy AXA's travel insurance.
If you deal direct with the insurance company - there will be a 'walk-in' price even if you buy via online/email. AXA's benefits are really good provided if you buy the VIP one and the price isn't expensive at all. |

I get my Chartis travel insurance from my insurance agent.
If I don't go for lots of trips in a year, I'll just arrange for her to get it done a few weeks before I travel. Count by the days and place I travel to. But if like this year, I've been travelling quite a lot, then I just get one year travel insurance. Cost about RM350+ or so for the whole year. |
