There is bro. Others have talk about it before. If not I'd be on Maxis now instead of Unifi. When I was thinking of switching did some research about it.  Maybe you don't feel the change of speed, but I am the type which will notice easily when there is a drop in speed.

Even on Maxis mobile also same issue for me, at night sure drop in speed. Day time all fine. Maybe if you mostly use at night you won't notice it, but I use mine all day long.

I also searched here about gaming with it, and it wasn't recommend last time. Maybe they have change now, but that was it was years ago.

My own opinion. If you're good with it I have no problem with it either. Just want to get the best for what I pay for.

Maybe bcoz i dont play game n my speed only 30mbps
So no harm to their bandwidth
Plus my residential area only 300 house

Run this. You can see the quality and speed with actual numbers.

Netflix have lower video quality on browser compared to on tv.
So far mine looks ok on browser. I would suggest you check the internet stability

You can check with fast.com
That's directly testing with Netflix servers.

Do change the DNS too. Maxis one is terrible. Use Google or cloudflare one for quicker browsing

With Fast.com, very fast speed but i feel like my NF is running on SD rather than HD. I called NF and they deny throttling but unable to fix my problem. And then i called Maxis, very friendly and helpful guy but he also unable to help me.

What i did last week was bring my android tv box to my in-law place who are using Unifi and the quality was really good, just like watching HD channel on Astro. Sigh, really dunno what to already.

Today Maxis Fibre network here on TM HSBB at Pasir Putih,Ipoh totally went down.

Pings from as low as 5ms now shoot up over 20ms.

Speedtests worst than DSL on fibre with only 2mbps average with downloads but the uploads like normal..

Last week:

Please investigate and check with TM. My office nearby at Jalan Pasir Putih also the Streamyx is down.

No issues on Maxis 4G LTE Mobile network though. Full speed with no noticeable spikes in latency(though high).

EDIT: Just turned on my ONT/router back again, speed returned to normal but ping still exceptionally high at ~15ms. Maybe Merdeka coming, Maxis network always like that approaching festive holidays their Hotlink will sell cheap on demand MU passes so the traffic will increase causing latency to spike upwards several times the normal rates.

On a good day from Ipoh, my latency to Maxis Subang Jaya NoC is about 5ms, now I'm getting 10-15ms? That's like 3X spike.

Please consider to upgrade your 58.71.245.61 gateway or have a look what is wrong with it.

ditching tplink archer c5v

My equipment:
Huawei WS880 flashed to Xwrt-Vortex
TM's own Huawei HG8240W
Huawei E8372
-FYI, i can't get the provided ZTE MF833V to work with PC/other router. It can only work with the provided tplink router.
When connected to other PC/router, only DNS lookup can be resolved, Internet packet won't go through.
For this, i replaced it with my own Huawei E8372. If your dongle can work with PC, there's shouldn't be any issue for it to work with other router.

Setting for Dual WAN
[attachmentid=10184852]
[attachmentid=10184853]
-Ignore that I selected USB device as Android phone instead of USB modem as both mode will work since Huawei E8372 or ZTE MF833V works in hostless modem mode. APN should be configured on the dongle, not on the router.
Setting for VOIP
[attachmentid=10184856]
[attachmentid=10184854]
[attachmentid=10184857]
[attachmentid=10184858]

Does this still work today (Aug 2020)?

Phone part should still work. Backup sim part will not work anymore. Not only maxis locked the dongle to the archer c5v, they also locked the sim to the dongle
Just keep them somewhere close as backup in case there’s issue with the connection
Btw, i’ve moved back to unifi. Same shitty service, different provider. Cheaper though due to promotion

Hi Guys... need some advice here.

I recently changed my internet from Maxis Astro bundle to a standalone one because my parents decided to cancel Astro.
I applied for the Maxis home fibre, they sent some technician to install with a new router.
It's been a month, and I felt that the connection gets disconnected intermittently - because I am still working from home I can tell that my internet disconnected as my VPN will have a pop up that it is disconnected and reconnecting.

I called Maxis, they sent someone over.
The technician said there is nothing wrong with my internet, but my disconnection issue is probably my room is not near the router.
He explained that I never experience in the past as now we have 5g signal, so there could be interference as there are 2 signals being transmitted (2.4g and 5g)
He suggested me to get wifi booster to get a better signal.

I did some reading on wifi extender, mesh network, and also get to know that routers may also affect the connection.
So I would like to ask if anyone had similar issue, and what would be the best solution?

TL/DR version:
I experience intermittent disconnection using Maxis home fiber plan.
I stay double story, router installed in living room. My room is on 1st floor far behind.
Maxis technician suggest wifi extender - wanna ask if you had similar issue and your suggested solution.

There are only my parents and I at home, I don't really need very canggih solutions as they are not very tech-savy. I just need to work with smooth internet in my room.
In case you suggest me to work closer to the router, my job requires some privacy and my router is installed near the TV.

Any comments is very much appreciated. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

What is the speed of your home fibre plan?
And what is the router model given by Maxis?
Usually replace Maxis stock router with after market router will solve the problem.
But this is also depends on whether you need to retain VOIP or not.

Is not about speed, is about the stability of the line and also wifi connection.
VOIP refer to the free phone provided by Maxis, if you not using it then can ignore this.
I am also using Archer Cv5, it is actually TP Link router with custom firmware for Maxis.
Solution is simple, you can either buy after market router to replace this Archer Cv5.
But you need to have technical know-how on replace the router.
If you are technical noob, the easy way is to buy a TP Link Mesh wifi (M4 or M5 will do).
Configure the mesh wifi as your main AP, and disable the wifi function in Archer Cv5.

Replace the original router with better one. Also if double story have to look at mesh solution to ensure stable wifi across both floors. Can consider the TP-Link Deco M4 or M9 depending on budget. If you don't know how to setup then just get the tech person from shop to do it.

It's the Maxis phoneline. If you're not using then you can completely put aside the default router.

Don't need to disable 5GHz, just connect to 2.4GHz SSID as 2.4GHz has further range compared to 5GHz.

Before you follow others' suggestions to change the router, try to set the DHCP lease time in the C5v first. Default 60 mins, try to extend to max 2880 mins and see if that helps alleviate the dis-connectivity problem first.
