Use Compressor type chiller gib you this reason

1: TE Chiller is DAMN NOISY and always ON
2: TE Chiller consume more electricity than compressor type
3: Price difference not much

For Nanotank what your current temp... I suggest move your nano from direct heat source like near window and move in towards the shady part of your house. Your house air circulation and Aquarium FAN

if all done right your aquarium temp will stay around 36-38 deg C

36-38 deg?? Should be 26-28 deg yeah?

I have a 60cm planted tank, by using a fan, i manage to get 26-28 deg. The location of my tank has no natural sunlight. I do have some cherry shrimp and yamato shrimp as algae cleaner.

Hi..is there any procedure in reusing used ADA amazonia soil?(already been used by other person for couple months). i planning on buying 3 x 9L of it and after a bit "research", some say i need to dry it, fert it again, and then can be put into setup..but some say, just let i damp..im not in the base setup phase yet as i only have used 2.5' tank (need to be clean from excess silicon glue and repaint black for the background) and used driftwood..

is there any precaution for the soil during the waiting period until base setup phase?

im planning on doing dry start method for the plants, DIY co2, DIY top hob filter.

i would consider the soil as used up its beneficial value. so effectively you are buying dirt or normal soil.

what i would do is to keep the soil moist. as you are using DSM, the tank will be sealed up so moisture will not evaporate so quickly. occasionally you will still need to mist your tank to make it more moist.

once you start to flood ur tank, u will need to consider the fert regimes.

as for the used tank, if its kept dried under cool shade, its fine. but if its left outside rain n shine, please consider to redo the silicone glue on all panels. mine was kept outside for a few months until i used it. it was good for 1 year+ when suddenly it broke at the top part. water leaking everywhere!! just as a caution la...

Whoaaaaa...sound scary for the leaking part.. blink.gif

One more question..im planning to diy my filtration system..maybe using 3mm clear acrylic for top filter system, and 15mm pvc pipe (grey colour)..my concern is, is there any problem if i paint the piping (which will submerge underwater) with black spray paint and finished with clear coating?. I saw on the net, they recommending krylon fusion paint but i dont think it can be found in JB. hmm.gif hmm.gif

My personal recommendation:

Plants: Petswonderland midvalley, Pet safari IPC
Tanks: Aquascape paradise shah alam (but not much choice if u want curved tanks). Petswonderland great eastern mall for all-in-one tank setup (E.g. fluval edge, fluval spec).
Filters: Petswonderland great eastern mall, Pet safari IPC
Lighting: Fish depot aman suria (apply member got 10% disc)
Fertilizers / conditioners: Petswonderland midvalley, Fish depot aman suria
Aquascaping (rocks, driftwood): aquascape paradise shah alam

For Pet Safari at IPC, got 2 sections. East Aqua occupies a small section in the Pet Safari and they sell plants/fishes/accessories, while Pet Safari themselves sell aquarium accessories as well (near the back). The prices can differ, so be sure to compare the prices if u're getting some accessories.

The ones i didnt mention here dont mean I dont recommend. Just that the above are the shops that I always visit. The pros here might have more suggestions.

diy filtration is good but u need to take into account easily avialable consumables such as the floss filter / ceramic rings etc that you wanna fit into your filter. usually tank top filter have this issue (space constraint) and also water level needed to be low else it will be too heavy for the tank to hold on the braces...

for any paint, its better to use liquid paint because its thick and can withstand brushing or scrubbing. spraying will be thin and if not done properly it will be easily chipped off during cleaning. i suggest to leave it as its natural colour (grey). if you scare to spoil your overall looks, can try and find acrylic pipes (i have only seen it in big shopping areas in kl area). i'm from bp johor. haha... so i can't really advise where to get these things. i can only give u some ideas.

aiseh...forgot to think about the weight..hahaha..thanks for reminding.. notworthy.gif

acrylic piping is not a bad idea though..my only concern is the price actually..my main reason for doing DIY is to minimize cost for the whole system but just found out the acrylic is not that cheap too..especially when it need to be custom made..hahhaa.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

I blame, if u not satisfied, stop whining & quit the job.
You can't perform yet you expect more ?
When your teammate can perform well, why can't you ? dun give excuse.

That fella already been there for many years, i went there few years back, pattern same as now.
I still remember i went there buy live stock 2 times, 2 times also he handle it roughly & just throw the pack of fish on the table in front of customer.
