Hi, I'm getting ready to start my planted tank, so I have been doing a lot of research and also visiting local fish shops to know what's do they have.

I visited -
- Midvalley East Aqua
- Ikano East Aqua
- NSK Kuchai Lama Alive Aquarium
- ADA Malaysia
- Irene aquarium
- Nilufar in scott garden
- Aquatic International Shah alam

Do you guys have your favourite local fish shop that sell many aquatic plants? I have been looking for "Limnophila Hippuroides".

Cool, I'll visit that next time.

I went to 88 Pet Mart in Pandah Indah, they have a few good looking demo planted tanks.

If you're in KL area, check these places:

- Alive Aquarium, NSK Kuchai Lama
- Water Life in Cheras
- Pets mart 88 in Pandan Indah Cheras (Opposite this shop, there are 2 other LFS)

Iwagumi style, some people leave it blank because the wall is white. Some prefer sky blue or even sky pattern. Personally, I'll prefer leave it blank with white wall. It looks good if the water is really clear as if there's isn't water at all.

I'll fill the back with 3 species of rotala from blood red, red to green, hm in the middle and monte carlo/HC as carpet plant. That's the plan, I hope it executes alright. Getting them this saturday.

Hey nice scape there, wondering if you are going to do the dsm or just submerge it?
*
I actually planning to do DSM for a few days just let the plants hold a lil stronger before I flood it, but the plants I got are already submerged, so I think it's no good to plant submerged plants with DSM?

It will be submerged, can't wait for the weekend!

I ordered 3 different species of rotala stem plants. - Blood red, red and green. Hopefully will get a nice shade of red to yellowish green.

Ah... oops, sorry. Mixed up with foreground and background.

Background is Rotala, foreground is monte carlo, maybe mixed with HC.

Some people actually use rotala in foreground to achieve depth of field. Eg. creating nature landscape. You'd see them put carpeting plant like HC, monte, java moss in background and some background plants moved to foreground. You can see that in recent years ADA competition.

Nice, initially i wanted to Iwagumi too, but I like the colourful plants and natural look, so decided to add in more plants to colour things up.

I'll be planting MC and HC altogether. So far, most LFS are selling Wasakubi, so I might need to separate them and plant one by one. I'll post photos.

MC can be done with DSM or submerge. There's a popular post created by George Farmer, called one pot challenge. Basically, using only one pot of MC to plant the whole carpet.

The MC he used was emerged plant.

Congrats! I think you put way too much water for DSM. It should be moist but not soaking wet. Also cover the tank for high humidity and temp.

The main thing about DSM is the plant uses CO2 from the air not from the water. If you submerged it under water without extra CO2 supply, that's not DSM. And with the rich fertz soil, you might get algae. wink.gif
