I have the SCB debit card when I placed my 4.25% with SCB last year.
For this time 4.5% which I placed last week, SCB did not give me debit card.

My previous 6 mth 3.7% HLB FD matured today & went to do a rentas transfer to another bank. Tried to persuade me to retain FD there. 6 mths FD 4% under Islamic FD, 12 mths 4.1%. This was at HLB Bandar Puteri. Withdrew anyway coz wanted to place in OCBC & add to SCB trow.

Not sure about UOB or CIMB but AmBank has a rather slow account opening and withdrawal process.

No, no credit card.
No ATM card.
I just put RM 5 for each current account.
No, HSBC did not charge me fee.

HSBC gave me one small size (similar to SCB FD cert) of FD cert, and one
current account cert (similar to SCB FD cert).

But HSBC owes me 3 umbrellas. HSBC Leng Chai said will call me when
stocks come in.

RinggtPlus is offering free 20" luggage for OCBC FD signups, min 30K fresh fund  brows.gif

ringgit plus

Does anybody know the ringgit value of this 20" luggage from Ringgit Plus?

Let's say if put RM 30k in SCB and OCBC respectively:
SCB 4.5% for 15 months vs. OCBC 4.2% for 12 months:

SCB: RM 1350 interest
OCBC: RM 1260 interest

Difference: additional RM 90 for SCB, it is 15 months tenure with every 6 month interest hmm.gif

for me i count la, if the "trip" is worth the effort to make the extra sum of money. if not much difference but too much trouble, then i skip.

I guess the answer is pretty straight forward. It all boils down to how much is the amount.

1) Big amount straight way go make placement.
2) Small amount, just accumulate first.

For cost of travelling, different ppl different cost. Some ppl zero cost because his work place is walking distance to the banks. If you incur travelling cost, just weight the travelling cost with your potential FD daily interest and see which one more heavy.
*
Yeah, sounds logical. The banks around my area are inconvenient when it comes to parking.....

just *tried* to do it this morning. fresh fund is a pain. wrote cheque but must wait till cheque cleared only then can create the fd. "fresh funds" is any fund transferred within the last 7 days. no umbrella offer though - will call and follow up with the bank officer tomorrow

So you need to open current account? Does it request you to purchase the cheque book? Can we close the current account after 3 months matured date?

Ah Goat Sir,

This Luggage Bag promo has started since 26 Feb 2015, but too bad you did not register
with Ringgit Plus before you placed your FD with OCBC...

https://media.ringgitplus.com/creatives/c68...40_campaign.pdf

Maybe you can call Ringgit Plus to see if you are eligible to get the Luggage bag or not..?
A sweet Leng Lui from Ringgit Plus will answer to your call brows.gif
Good Luck..

Old man like young gf's !  tongue.gif

It is difficult to include children. Ever heard of children driving parent out of house after hse assigned to them ?  hmm.gif

So we both liked SCB's 4.5% !  drool.gif

Next week going to go for EPF self contribution !  biggrin.gif
*
Better to use bank counter to deposit to EPF self contribution account rather than
to use KWSP counter.

I deposited banker's check to KWSP counter on 24 Feb 2015, and it was only credited
to my EPF account on 5 March 2015 mad.gif
