i never saw my dad and my relative gearbox die up or worn out after the pattern of stopping the car and put P first only engage handbrake..

i knew that article, it's chinese article.. there stated must handbrake first, switch off engine then only put P at last..

in most vehicle right now, must put P first only switch off engine one.. just do our practice, foot brake>P gear>handbrake up>release foot brake>switch off engine.. that's all..

Buy something like this power window lubricant can solve your window sound. [attachmentid=4444532]

Thanks. Will look for this.

I thought one has to remove the door cover and grease the mechanical parts inside.

Easy then with the lub.

All I can say to you kind sir, is use your "S" more often, and stop whining about your Preve. wink.gif  And watch as all your petty problems "engine noisy, no power after 120kmh" pffffffft..., "engine knocking during uphill climb" , engine this engine that, all magically disappear..

And really, people here are getting tired of hearing about your Ford Focus. That car is in a different standard, and totally different price. It's getting to be quite a drag hearing you keep going on and on about your Sylphy and Focus in our Preve forum.

Tried S mode on the Preve Turbo and alternating it with D and paddle shifter mode. No doubt the S mode is more responsive than D but at the expense of higher RPM, roughly 200 to 300 RPM higher than D, and louder sound from the engine. It would be useful if one wants more responsiveness in acceleration especially in city driving. Cruising at 110km/h in S mode registers 3000RPM.

D will be more economical FC-wise as RPMs at low speed city drive as RPMs are in the region of 1500-1800. unlike in S whereby it hovers around 1900-2000.

DIY.. hahha.. i may share, i bought this around rm7.50.. but you guys may look around at Mr. DIY for waxco brand, around rm6.90.. then just apply it with the instruction on the bottle.. just apply the lubricant on window rubber lining there only.. then exercise the power window up & down few times.. magicccc~ no more glass cracking sound.. at least 2 months ago i applied till now, no more sound appear..

Old myth die hard. The same goes to "You must warm up the car before moving". That one should've died in the 2000s when EFI cars became the norm.

Got a query on car sound system here.

After I installed a sub woofer for my home theatre system many years ago, I am really impressed with the sound, gives a new dimension to music enjoyment.

For our Preve, I do not want to replace the car sound system with one that has a sub woofer plug in. Like to know whether I can improve the sound quality by installing different car speakers with lower bass.

Anyone can help me?

Thanks.

P/S Any one knows the brand of car speakers we have in Preve?

The Proton Preve has a "heavy throttle" response, hence the feeling of sluggishness. You need to step on the pedal more so as the car will accelerate, unlike cars with "light throttle" response such as Perodua Myvi, Honda City or any other Japanese or imported cars whereby a light tap on the pedal the car will move forward. If you can live with this throttle characteristic then the Preve Turbo can be considered as the most value for money C-segment sedan from Proton.

Thanks. Anything else need to prepare to see/notice for the small/big issue from this model?

Syntium 3000 is still in production. It is Syntium 5000 that has stopped production, replaced by Syntium 7000.

Maybe this.

Apart from that nothing major. Throttle response and slight unrefinement in the engine and/or CVT are given other than stiff steering wheel when compared to non-Proton cars. IF you can look past these minor niggles the Preve Turbo is a solid car, value for money.

Service cost is high, almost similar to continental vehicles. May I ask the breakdown of the RM1200 servicing cost, where does the bulk of the money go to. And also whether your car is still within the 3 years/60,000km warranty. Thanks.

I thought preve comes with 5yrs 175k km warranty?
I cant remember the exact figure..but the main bulk came from
CVT oil 2xx
Spark plug 2xx
FS engine oil 2xx
labour 120
the rest are brake service and other normal stuff like coolant, air filter, aircond filter..will give the exact figure later
I do agree that the service cost is on the high side considering the price of the car and is every 60k..and ya there is 6% gst
