Haha I find there is a group of malaysians in singspore who no longer confess or admit to be malaysian, and are so insulted when ppl refer to them as msians. Everything malaysia does is wrong.

Why are people so embarrassed by being born msian?

Strange.

Common leh. There is also a bunch of SG people migrated overseas and criticizing SG. They do that to strengthen their decision to migrate is perfectly right lo, by tell themselves or others the original country is lousy over and over again, so they won't have a moment of regret if things don't happen the way they want now. Syukur masih better than old times.

Other than the country is governed by a bunch of hooligans-wannabe monkeys and donkeys that obviously lack intellectual properties, I don't see why people are so embarrassed .. I really don't. I also wanna know why.  hmm.gif

I dunno le. Feels like got they got self esteem issues lidat. I mean.. these people ah.. I feel that if u migrate for better future.. sure thts ur personal choice la. But why are u so ashamed of your past that you were born and raise and educated in msia? Shouldn't u be proud that u managed to rise above your upbringing?

Haha ya but I dun see the other ppl lidat leh. Indons or Philippines are immensely proud of their own country despite not being too far off from msia economically and in terms of corruption. Really quite sad looking at these ppl.

While we discussing about pros and cons being Singaporean, what is the pros for keeping Msia citizenship?
*
1. cheaper property. By renting out your Singapore HDB when you retire, You can live comfortably in Msia and even go for travel twice a year.
2. health care is a lot more cheaper in Msia compare to SG.
3. Msia houses are mainly landed property which you can enjoy your gardening during your retirement.

Bro, only singaporean can rent their hdb leh, you just gave me another reason to convert...

How true is this? Unless choosing government hospita. For me the cost is really medical insurance which i feel almost comparable in both sides.

Being a Malaysian doesn't help me to get discount leh cry.gif

PR can lock 1 room and rent out the whole unit la. no problem with that.
as for healthcare. I am one of those that highly support gov hospitals. Private hospitals are just cut throat s*ck3r.
landed house are definitely a lot cheaper. If you convert to sinkie, You need to buy 1m above, not worth.

Did MOM gave any reason for the rejection,eg. salary, job hopping too much, etc??
If everything complies with their requirement, usually they'll approve the pass after an appeal.
or maybe they changed the regulations again recently hmm.gif

No, PR not allowed to rent out their whole flat regardless of declare or no declare. How they get around it (and how Sinkie oso get around the 5-year MOP) is lock the utility room and structure the rental agreement as "Rent X bedrooms" instead of rent whole flat.

Interestingly though I also see rental agreement they like to put some crazy amount for "rental of furniture." Example if rental $2k, they say $500 room rental $1.5k furniture rental. Why ah, izzit cos of different tax rates? alaskanbunny sgrealestate pls clarify.

I heard the locked one room no longer working. HDB will require the landlord to occupy the room. My friend who recently relocated to USA facing this problem. He cannot rent his flat because of the MOP and the worse part is he is not fulfilling the MOP as he is not considered occupying the flat for this period.

you're right, PR cant rent out whole unit.. just went to korek HDB website.. thanks for the info.
i wonder if they submit the rental agreement for the property tax assessment, cause gains from property rental are taxable, but rent for furniture, i dunno lah..
IRAS cannot be so stupid rite..

Both the room and furniture rental goes into the rental income, rental income will be taxed at personal income tax rate so they are the same. The only thing the owner can do, is to say they "rent" the furniture from some company, hence they can declare it as expenses which is deductible in rental income. But 1.5k furniture for a 500 room I think is too obvious.

You own HDB and you don't know HDB rules? That is the first few agreement to sign.

Rental income goes to personal income tax. Property has its own property tax based on the annual value which is the market value, not your own rent. Never pay any property tax so far?

I've paid my property tax, but since mine is based on owner occupied, I assume there's another rate for owner not occupying the unit.
