QUOTE(kevin613 @ Dec 23 2014, 11:15 PM) Could have just lodge a complaint to mom and let them investigate. That non-performance excuse is commonly used against pregnant ladies, and is no longer valid. The clause come with "without sufficient cause" at the back, to protect both parties. Imagine a pregnant lady switch off months before maternity leave because she thinks the company won't sack her due fear of MOM investigation. It is always easy to find fault here and there. Say, you reading and posting in forum early on during working hours should be sufficient reason for non-performance behaviour to deduct your pay.

If you're renting a room, better check with the owner if his house is fiber ready, and if he allows you to use the ports or not. He could be using it already.

QUOTE(kevin613 @ Dec 23 2014, 10:31 PM) but according to the CPF Act, the employer is not allowed to deduct the employer's contribution from the employee's basic salary, there's nothing to negotiate about as any reduction is against the law. http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/aol/search/disp...3A0;rec=0#P1II-. The original employment contract is between the company and a WP/EP holder. The T&C in that contract are specific to the employment of a foreigner. Now the employee has become a PR. The laws applicable to the company and the PR employee are different. Would that original contract still hold? Alternatively, when an WP/EP employee loses his WP/EP for some reason. Does their existing employment contract hold, now that the employee has gone from a permit holder to tourist?

Alternatively, when an WP/EP employee loses his WP/EP for some reason. Does their existing employment contract hold, now that the employee has gone from a permit holder to tourist? the contract states my name and passport number, which remains the same, and it didn't mention anything about foreigner/local/PR, and no specific T&C that says the contract will be nullified if the employee becomes PR. The HR did hand me a letter and wanted me to sign on it after i told them my PR application is approved, but i refused. they could've terminated me like some suggested here, but ultimately they gave in after i called MOM numerous times (including a conference call between HR, ME and MOM) to confirm what they wanted me to sign is against the law. tourist cannot be hired. when one loses his WP/EP, be it cancelled by employer, or revoked by enforcement agencies, then off he go... QUOTE(studyboy @ Dec 24 2014, 03:08 PM) How much data do you see per month? Would you recommend Singtel, M1 or Starhub? have use all 3 before at different timings, personal preference is Suckhub, followed by Stinktel, then Missing1. to be honest, the traffic lights (Green, Red, Yellow) all sucks, it's either they throttle mobile broadband users in favour of those using data plan on phones, or they've been oversubscribed, cause i felt that surfing on phone is way faster than using the mobile broadband.. switch to starhub cable after that, and 4 years later went to fiber on MR and never looked back.

Lol, I was thinking of using mobile broadband out of convenience! It seems like a hassle to look for rooms with wifi nowadays. Or, I am just inexperienced in accommodation hunting! Given all that you have mentioned here, I think I will stick to to wifi for now.
