Fuel consumption for my 1989 saga is hovers around 8-10km/L. Recorded fill up using drivvo apps. I think this is pretty high. Any tips on how to further improve the fc?

I just renewed my wife's Saga 12v under Allianz (3rd Party) for RM511.18.
No NCD but Loading 15% since it's YoM 1993. Not sure if it's worth renewing for the following year or not under Allianz. Sadly no Allianz Car Ranger cover, so i cannot call Tow Truck liao~ |

Any idea why my car once in a while will flooded after switching off engine for a while?
Such as parking to buy something and coming back. Occasionally the car floods and require full throttle down to start the car. |

QUOTE(langatian @ Jun 26 2017, 10:17 PM) The manual gearbox does not incorporate a dipstick to check the level. The owner's manual does not mention about this also. Attached is Haynes method of checking. In a previous car, I used to remove the speedometer cable with plastic gear at the gearbox and top up. I have not tried with the Iswara. I am not sure it is the same. Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(langatian @ Jun 26 2017, 10:17 PM) QUOTE(Albert B @ Jun 27 2017, 12:38 PM) ... I did a bit of searching on the Mitsubishi gearbox, and I find thatIn a previous car, I used to remove the speedometer cable with plastic gear at the gearbox and top up. I have not tried with the Iswara. I am not sure it is the same. it is also a plastic gear that can be removed. Seems that most cars manufacturers use such gears for the speedometer. I wonder why car manufacturers do not make use of this thing as aid for checking the gear oil. This post has been edited by Albert B: Jun 30 2017, 01:16 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Hi, need get some advice from you guys.
My 1990 old saga auto gearbox got oil leaking and 2nd gear need warm up or wait engine to be hot first only can run or change gear. My friend suggested me to overhaul it instead change the record one cause we don't know the condition. I have quotation to overhaul it at RM 1050 and 3 months warranty. Is it reasonable? One foreman quote me at RM1600 and six month warranty. Thanks |

@Albert B My headlights flickered (like blinking) for a fraction of a second, and very occasionally, maybe three or four times, when I was driving these two nights. Other than that, the lights seemed to be working normally. I am not certain if it was both lamps or just one flickering. I checked both relays and they seemed good. With the engine off, and touching each relay with my finger, I could feel and hear the "click" when I switched the stalk on. This forum guy called "Tester" says : " The flickering lights might from a failing rectifier in the alternator. The rectifiers convert AC voltage to DC voltage. When a rectifier fails, it allows an AC ripple voltage into the vehicles electrical system causing the lights to flicker. " https://community.cartalk.com/t/head-lights...ckering/57476/4 Might this be the cause in my case ? I was thinking a failing rectifier (the diodes) in the alternator would cause the lights to be flickering regularly, and not occasionally as in my case. Other than that, I was thinking it might be the lights switch stalk assemblyon the steering column. However, switching the stalk on and off when the car was stationary, the lights seemed fine. |

However, switching the stalk on and off when the car was stationary, the lights seemed fine. 1) The battery and the alternator are connected to the electrical system like a power grid. Both can supply current to the loads, if the rectifier fails the battery acts like a backup. It can absorb fluctuations provided the load is not too high (like the starter). 2) When the headlamps flicker, do the other loads like the radio, instrument lights also show signs of this 'ripple' voltage? Particularly the radio will have some 'clicks' like our home player amplifier system do when the fluorescent light is switched on. If not, then the source is probably the headlight system. I had a headlamp problem, not exactly flickering but it went off, then when I disturb the socket it comes on and off. You can check it first to see if the socket is the problem: unplug and see if the terminals are burnt. For RM10 the wireman can graft in a bypass, or you can DIY it too. QUOTE(Albert B @ Jul 1 2017, 03:07 AM) I had a headlamp problem, not exactly flickering but it went off, then when I disturb the socket it comes on and off. You can check it first to see if the socket is the problem: unplug and see if the terminals are burnt. For RM10 the wireman can graft in a bypass, or you can DIY it too. Yesterday : I called up this aircon man in Jinjang about the problem, and he told me to take a look at the bulb sockets to see if they had melted. Well, on checking them, my itchy fingers tried pulling out the bulbs to see if their inside of sockets were burnt or melted. When I tried this with the left hand headlight, which was one of those Taiwanese replacements, the plastic part where the wire retaining clip hooks on to, broke ! The part which is shown in a red circle. [attachmentid=8936987] Same as what happened to this guy : http://www.suzuki-forums.com/3g-2006-2014-...eplacement.html There was still a tiny part left where the clip could still hook on to a little bit. So I took my polystyrene glue, put some around what was left of the plastic hook, and around the bent part of the wire clip as well. I also put some glue on the edge of the three "legs" of the bulb itself, where they rest on the housing. Anyway, I thought this stopgap solution wouldn't last long, so I went to AME Auto in SeaPark and asked about buying a Taiwan light. The boss, Simon, showed me his stock which was locally made by New Hoong Fatt, but he told me that since the light was still usable after my "repairwork", not to waste my money. I took a look at the original plastic on his stock, and the part which mine had broken off was just a tiny little bit, maybe 2 mm more of so. These local or Taiwan parts are really flimsy, like those China toys. So I just took his advice and left without buying anything. When I went to the Jinjang man, his young apprentice said this was a very common occurence. What he would have done was just place a bit of Super Glue on each of those three legs and press them on the housing. He also checked out the sockets below the dashboard as you had mentioned (he said this was also a common thing), but mine looked ok. He then checked the switch, seemed ok too. He finally checked the relays in the engine compartment. The one for the low/high beam looked a little burnt at one of the legs where the high current goes thru, so I gave him one of mine to replace. Still can't figure out what really caused that flickering. |

Hi Sifu,
Today I notice my Iswara vaccum is very weird, when on aircon the reading is between -0.6~-0.4bar, and the rpm drop to 500, off aircon all is normal...when I off the car vacuum reading is -0.2bar, usually its go back to -1.0bar when I off. So I need to go see mechanic or aircon shop? Is this a vaccum leak? FICD spoiled? Any advice? This post has been edited by tenchi0205: Jul 3 2017, 09:05 AM |
