Yeah... it should be correct
Core Temp is written based on Intel's TAT tool. So, it is more accurate. I'm sure if you run Prime, your CPU @1.7V will go beyond 70C... even water-cooled. This post has been edited by pcmoddingmy: Sep 13 2006, 02:11 AM |

In other words, as long as the program loads. Rev E won't work with the program i think. |

Just like the Hardware Zone review, I couldn't OC mine even over 300fsb. Mine came with the July Bios and even after updating to the latest Bios still can't OC to above 300fsb. Tried all sort of conservative timings, still unsucessful. Keep resetting and power off if I try 350fsb. Most of the time will hang completely and have to clear the CMOS and try again. The shop where I bought last week must have been an old batch. I should have suspected something amiss when they only had one for sale. They caught a waterfish here, hehe. Baok, I booted up at 472MHz FSB direct from BIOS. Although ClockGen worked for me, it didn't help much because my CPU maxed out at 3.3GHz.

QUOTE(yehlai @ Dec 22 2006, 05:53 PM) No probs... the guide was up for quite sometime already.. heheWell actually, the 965 Deluxe and 965PT uses exact same PCB. The only difference is the SB chipset (without RAID) and only 4xSATA on the 965PT. In fact, some users have successfully flashed 965 Deluxe BIOS onto the 965PT. Anyways, I suggest you check out the VDIMM controller near the 2.2V jumper just to make sure that it reads "RT9202". If its not the same, I suggest you snap a picture of it and let me check it out. The VDIMM pencil mod should be similar... |

Ya agree.. anyway e6600 doesn't need high ram freq to oc it...unless u r using e6300... 9x400Mhz = 3.6Ghz 8x450Mhz = 3.6Ghz i think ur d9 already nice without the vdimm mod... But tight lanterncy can get better Super PI. Now using CL-4. This post has been edited by yehlai: Jan 19 2007, 03:57 PM |

Most fo the time people try to push as far as they can at default voltage or lower. When you overclock doesnt boots only you up the vmch.

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jan 30 2007, 09:51 PM) Yes only for Super PI. Get the reading and take snap then finish job.For daily use i only run 3.22GHz. Moreover dont want to stress it, becos its almost impossible to get stable setup at 3.6GHz. No time also But i think most of the E6600 overclocers here o'c with >1.5-1.6v vCore, becoz i saw their CPU-Z screenies, the vCore is 1.213v. Actually its a bug from CPU-Z. When if the vCore set too high then the CPU-Z will show 1.213v one. This post has been edited by yehlai: Jan 30 2007, 10:05 PM |

QUOTE(yehlai @ Jan 30 2007, 09:32 PM) Now so far is 407 x9. Super PI = 14.015 sec. Quite stable. when u set 1.8v in bios...what is actual read in windows??? it must be below than that rite...But vDimm 2.2V only, so my RAM cant go beyond 1000MHz. So pity. Yes.. 1.8v is the max alrdy. Now set lower.. dont dare to put too much vCore. |

Just o'c to take snap.. not 24/7 usage. Set vCore to the max is very scary.. ps: already try with 1st bios, 0702 & 0801 This post has been edited by gengstapo: Feb 2 2007, 12:03 PM |

QUOTE(yehlai @ Feb 7 2007, 09:31 AM) Yeah ! Biostar o'c spirit! i think u shud not overlook to change the nb heatsink to a better one..This mobo is good. It can support me to o'c to 410FSB x9. But not so stable, i think becoz of high temp. So if wanna fully utilize its o'c potential, wc setup is a must. one thing is for sure, the nb is hot.. even when i replaced the stock heatsink with TT extreme spirit II and it still feels hot when i touch the hsf. u guys shud note that the TT extreme spirit II is a fully copper active heatsink and has 2 heatpipes. So to push ur cpu further imho u must provide better cooling for ur nb. |

Need to ask advice from all the Gurus.
I just bought my new rig C2D E4300 Biostar P965PT. When i tried to overclock.. i can only hit 230Mhz on my FSB. I've tried changing the VCore voltage to 1.4 and increase the FSB further but the BIOS just won't boot up. It seems to power shutdown and reboots. I heard the E4300 is an excellent overclocker....but it seems like i'm missing some steps here... Any advise on the mobo or E4300...would be greatly appreciated |

QUOTE(flatfinger @ Feb 12 2007, 07:30 AM) im not pro maa...dont said like that... Thanks for the tip...i'll changed the Memory Divider from Auto to 400.update ur bios to the latest that support E4 series (P96CA119)...then set ur memory divider to 400...the E4 series need 400 divider to be 1:1...gud luck... Anything else i need to change other than 1) FSB 2) Memory divider What about 1) CPU Voltage -should i leave it to Startup or change to 1.325V ? 2) DRAM timings - Auto or manual set? 3) CPU thermal monitor -enabled or disabled? The Bios from RebelHaven )one i'm using) sets it to disable. Thanks again.. |

Is there a way to lock the DDR2 memory to 667Mhz? I want to OC the e4300 to 333FSB with the DDR2 at 667Mhz as well. I also noticed tht when OC the CPU FSB to 250..my temperature is arounf 41-42 at idle...50+ when at full load (check with Biostar Hardware Monitor). Is this normal? Thanks again. |

Any1 using 3rd party s/w to OC? Or jus OC in the bios? Since the Biostar built-in software "T-Utility Over Clock" look so "nice" and without any guide, i dunno how to OC rite now...
Plus, the "T-Utility Hardware Monitor" will give me a wrong result for the temp and voltage. It is not accurate at all! What's the problem actually? This post has been edited by RokXIII: Feb 13 2007, 09:20 PM |

Just tried to OC from 1.86 to 2.33 (333 x 7), not able to go higher due to my sucking RAM limited me... I cant go higher than this since when the RAM speed higher than 667MHz, errors will occur definitely...
I discover another problem is, even I ald OC till 2.33, but the CPU-Z 1.38 just show me 333 x 6 which is only 1999GHz... One more thing, I cant run TAT at all, have anyone encounter the problem same like me? Honestly, why so many problems happen to me. Is the mobo problem? Or just the software compatibility problem? |

QUOTE(nazerry @ Feb 24 2007, 04:35 PM) so now, i got my T-Utility fan states my cpu temp is 25C.. quite suprising coz using previous asus mobo, the temp was 40c! but when i tried speedfan, the temp is 127c?? how to fix this? e6 series need 533 ram divider to make it 1:1edit: how i can get my fsb:dram ratio to 1:1, currently it's 1:2. coz when i increase the fsb freq, the ram freq also increase. pening la! For e4 series, it needs 400 ram divider. Hope this helps u -pWs- |

When i try to run a full scan of virus by Kaspersky, my comp will hang or restart, is tat mean it is not stable enough?
I OC it from 1.86 to 2.33 with the default vcore(1.325) and 2.2 vdimm. Should I increase the vcore? But thr got no problem when i played game(Marvel:Ultimade Alliance), no hang or restart... |

QUOTE(RokXIII @ Feb 26 2007, 01:47 PM) I also feel weird when asking such question... Might be vCore too low. U can run Orthos Prime to test out the stabaility of ur setting. Sometime could be RAM prob, clock speed too high or vDimm too low. Or either NB voltage or NB too hot.. 965PT's NB is quite hot actually. Many possible...Coz before I OC, i can run kaspersky very smoothly, but after OC, it will hang or restart like wat i said before. So, i assume that it is due to the low vcore problem... My C2D rig. E4300 C2D -OC to 3015Mhz (335x9) 2x512MB 667Mhz DDR2 Corsair Biostar TForce 965PT 250GB WD HDD ACBEL 450W PSU Here's how i did it. (A basic guide to help those with problems) 1) Updated the latest bios from RebelHaven. 2) Use Overclock Manual 3) Set the VCore to 1.3125 4) Set Memory Frequency to 400Mhz -to achieve 1:1 timing with the E4300 procesor 5) Set the Memory voltage to 2 6) Memory SPD set to 4-4-4-12- the rest auto (you can leave all to auto) 7) Set the CPU FSB to 335 At idle - temperature is at around 39-41 'C At full load (running Prime stress and SuperPI together) -temperature is at around 48~52 'C However i do have one small problem.... my usb port doesn't seem to supply enough to my portable HDD. I need to use a DC adapter then it'll work. I don;t face this problem on my old P4 rig. Is there any thing wrong with the MOBO with the USB power? |

Well, do anyone use the Biostar Fan Controller here? I realize that this software is useless at all, it created just let u read the temperature only. The fan controller function cant use at all, even i set it manually at 2500rpm, the temp wont go any lower, still the same like auto speed(1700rpm)...

Can this mobo support PCI VGA? I just bought a PCI VGA, but it cant be detected when i put into my mobo...
The PCI VGA is Trident TGUI9680-1. I'm still looking for the drive for this VGA, but seems like is not easy to find an ancient VGA's drive... This post has been edited by RokXIII: Mar 15 2007, 11:30 AM |

Vrdoop is terrible on Asus board, including striker range. If you don't do vdroop mod, you can't go far.
I'll play with Asus today with the vdroop mod. Let's see how far this board can go with copper NB and a modded vdroop. NB is still hot for Biostar on our country, need either to change NB heatsink or use a fan to blow it. This post has been edited by gtghost: Mar 17 2007, 04:33 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

hey guys, a newbie here needing your help. i tried to increase my biostar tforce 965PT vMCH to 1.55 but after increasing it,my system wont boot. i can go as high as 1.35 from the default 1.25. any higher than 1.35 and the system wont boot. anything wrong with my mobo? its kinda new, about 2 weeks old..should i let it burn in summore? or do i need to change the NB cooler? right now im still using the stock NB cooler...

Change NB cooler. Going higher with MCH means higher heat with NB. BTW, they reported that MCH is reporting lower than it is. If you set 1.55, it will be higher than 1.55, check previous post.
Or use a fan on top of the NB if you know how to mod. If not change cooler. This post has been edited by gtghost: Mar 18 2007, 01:51 AM |

QUOTE(flawless? @ Mar 18 2007, 01:30 AM) hey guys, a newbie here needing your help. i tried to increase my biostar tforce 965PT vMCH to 1.55 but after increasing it,my system wont boot. i can go as high as 1.35 from the default 1.25. any higher than 1.35 and the system wont boot. anything wrong with my mobo? its kinda new, about 2 weeks old..should i let it burn in summore? or do i need to change the NB cooler? right now im still using the stock NB cooler... QUOTE(gtghost @ Mar 18 2007, 01:49 AM) Change NB cooler. Going higher with MCH means higher heat with NB. BTW, they reported that MCH is reporting lower than it is. If you set 1.55, it will be higher than 1.55, check previous post. Or use a fan on top of the NB if you know how to mod. If not change cooler. QUOTE(flawless? @ Mar 18 2007, 03:36 AM) thanks bro...pls consider the actual vMCH of the board..if not u will ended burn the chipActual Vmch Measurements 1.25V = 1.26V 1.35V = 1.47V (BIOS displays 1.45V) 1.45V = 1.66V 1.55V = 1.87V This post has been edited by flatfinger: Mar 18 2007, 06:20 PM |

hey there... anyone get to set FSB : DRAM = 1 : 1? @ 2.40ghz(or a bit higher) with RAM running @ 800mhz(or a bit higher) (with a pc6400 ram)? mind to post the settings? as i cant do 400fsb with x6 multiplier and running ram @ default 800mhz.. the whole system keep rebooting. sometimes need to clear cmos.
another question.. i already tested the new released bios whice indicates it has better dram timing configuration... mana tau.... cas4 -4 - 4 -12 shows that it's using cas3 - 4 - 4 -12 when using CPUz to see.. This mobo cant use cas4 la..?? |

Then how to explain ASUS P5N-E SLI can boot at DDR1000@4-4-4-10@2.2V and Biostar cannot? Same stick of RAM i stick into the mobos, not to mention it clears memtest for 3 hours! On biostar, once over DDR900, cannot go CL4, need CL5 to go. Probably chipset difference, as one use 965 and 650i.
Acutally, on Asus if can do the vdroop mod and get a 6600, it will be a lethal combo as the mobo can support up to 485FSB and I didn't see from the DB anyone going over 480 for 6600, crazy super timings on 4-4-4-10 |

Yeah, if you don't mind the missing RAID and SLI functions as I been a good supporter for RAID since those P4 days when my ABIT-IC7MAX3 was running RAID 0. Loads games damn fast, heck I gotta go grab a cup of coffee when I finish loading games like warcraft and had to wait for others
I am missing RAID 0 now. Playing Titan Quest really is taking some toll on the HDD as I am the one hosting the server. Sometimes damn laggy when suddeny die AHAH. I mean, 450x9 multi for a E6600 you get 4GHz? if your processor ca support it. If i got a E6600, i would have sold my processor and biostar together and I keep the E6600 with RAID and do SLI better summore. C-zone was selling the cheapest XpertVision 7900GS for only RM550 which clocks at 500/1500. Where to find? RM1100 can do SLI nice nice already. I went 2 days ago out of stock already, so hot this GC cos of the nice price. Now i have to think twice wheter wanna get E6600 & keep the P5N-E SLI cos got buyer gonna COD tommorrow. Crap.......... |

Wao.. running Raptor raid 0, so rich. Tht cost more than a proc alrdy.
But also depends la, if normal user like us.. only play light games, then dont need SLi or RAID i guess. Really not cheap. This post has been edited by yehlai: Mar 22 2007, 06:45 PM |

I'm using the same one too. Nonetheless, results are not the same. BTW,i am using the original latest bios now from Biostar website.
I noticed that if you flash your bios when you are on CL4, you have higher chance of booting at CL4. I think last time i flashed at CL5 thats why it won't let me boot at CL4 after DDR900. Now i can boot at DDR1000 but memtest still fails me at DDR930, so I think your D9GMH is a gem Don't think everyone can hit DDR1000@2.22v like your ones. I wonder if coolice and irigian got post thier results on how thier Kingston D9GMH. Would like to compare Maybe I just try burning in 2.22v all the way lah |

I'm having some issues with OCing my RAM, please help me out here..
current RAM im using is the Patriot signature line pc6400 1gb(800mhz, about 2 weeks old). im able to OC it to about 888mhz at CL5 and if i wanna go further, i have to set CL6=.=..which is kinda rare for ppl setting it that high, right?even after setting CL6 the highest i can go is 980mhz..vdimm i use is 2.4v. if i dont set CL6, any higher then 888mhz the thing wont boot..increasing vmch wont work either... but when i use my other RAM (apacer 533mhz 2x512mb, about a year old), i can go up as high as 800mhz CL5 and its stable so whats going on here? is my patriot RAM not good or i might have to burn in the RAMs like what yehlai did? *edit* i also cant boot the patriot RAMs at 3:4 ratio. the FSB i set at that ratio is 300mhz and the resulting RAM mhz is 800.increasing the vMCH also wont do..what gives? Rebel havens finally got it right. My mobo does not like the new bioses so I saw the latest bios the posted using P96ca914bs (first bios update from Biostar) and based on the bug forum, the new bioses couldn't boot at 450 above if you set vMCH > 1.25
The latest bioses were modded from the first bios and it totally rocks, but still with some spelling errors. Device = deivice? LOL Now, able to boot at 500Mhz @ vMCH 1.35 and the best thing, DDR980@4-4-4-10@2.2v rock solid with memtest 8 hours! Finally. Woo hoo time to beat old record. |

E6400 2 X 512MB Kingston KVR Hynix C4 PC4200 (533mhz can OC up 800mhz on 2.0V) 2 X Sata, 1 X IDE Rebel Haven Bios Mod : Ip96a921.rh2 At current i can only OC up to 340FSB .. can boot into windows but fail SuperPi 512 & 1MB. I dunno wether my PSU (480W) or my Ram is holding me back.. I will be happy if i can hit 400FSB!!! Please advise! This post has been edited by intune: Mar 27 2007, 12:20 PM |

Wht PSu u r using now? 480W is good enuf. If Acbel or Antec, Enermax then should be no prob.
Try lower the RAM multipler so u can test out how much the max FSB ur proc able to reach. For E6400 i think stock vCore can hit 2.8Ghz easillly. try add some cooling fan. This post has been edited by yehlai: Mar 27 2007, 12:23 PM |

Wht PSU? better dont use iCute type for oc, might burn ur mobo.
Wht vMGH u using? 2.8Ghz dont need too high, unless u got fan to cool down the NB. 965PT's NB overvoltage alot. 2.55v = 1.8+v |

QUOTE(yehlai @ Mar 27 2007, 12:29 PM) Wht PSU? better dont use iCute type for oc, might burn ur mobo. yea chaplang PSu.. gonna get good PSU soon. Any recomendation? my budget is limited maybe can spend 200-300.Wht vMGH u using? 2.8Ghz dont need too high, unless u got fan to cool down the NB. 965PT's NB overvoltage alot. 2.55v = 1.8+v Anyways i noticed.. Ip96a921.rh2 Bios no multiplier.?? which Bios is the best for 965PT now? Can my hynix C4 (bought from siuann) .. go 400FSB..? my VMGH is at default.. also i cant run TAT on my biostar p65T. Get Silverstone 560W, RM 350 only. |

QUOTE(intune @ Mar 28 2007, 12:25 AM) Yea considering Silverstone. Anyways managed to get to 2.8GHZ on (V)GMH 1.4. Definitely need better NB cooling. For me, 965PT's only weakness is the NB, becoz using cheapo HS and runs hot. Overvoltage a lot actually. Thts why it can clock fast but the downside is temp veryyyyyy.. HoT !!But for now the factor tht bottleneck u is PSU (or might be proc) not the mobo for sure.. becoz 2.8GHz is only mild oc This post has been edited by yehlai: Mar 28 2007, 11:37 AM |

new 965PT user here. anyone noticed that there's something weird with this board's RAM timings? when i set FSB:RAM to 1:2 or 3:5, CL4, cpuz reports it as CL3. but when i set it to 1:1 CL4, it becomes the normal CL4. is it bios problem or something else?

I read in the Rebel's Haven forum that is :
1. TForce 965 Deluxe 2. TForce 965PT 3. TForce 965 Express The express version is the one that supports 2.6v vdimm. @taxidoor I also have some problems routing the thick 24pin power cable BTW, does the Scyte Ninja use a metal black plate? you might need to insulate the metal black plate with insulating tape because the pins at the back of the motherboard will touch the back plate and you won't be able to POST. That's what happened with my Tr Ultra-120 This post has been edited by FLubber: Apr 10 2007, 02:24 PM |

But i forgot the Biostar Utilities soft is compatible or not. Thanks! But should be no prob, since this mobo is Vista ready. |

Vista requirement for RAM is significantly higher than XP. In other words, Vista utilize more memory, so cant support ur o'c like XP do. Maybe u can try lower the memory clock speed or losing the RAM timing a bit to see how? |

bumping an old thread. Is there anyway to do the vdroop mod on this motherboard but using a pencil instead? i wanna do a pencil mod for the vdroop instead of soldering things. and looking at this picture
![]() will connecting the 2 points by drawing a line on the PCB using a pencil from one of the points to the second point work? This post has been edited by FLubber: May 8 2007, 04:27 PM |

Using the latest mod rebel's bios. Withthe ES and 2x1gb KVR Hynix FP-Y5, i can only boot until 310fsb and only 400fsb. i cant boot between 310-400 or 400-450. I've gone thru rebel's workaround on this mobo. I've put the fan on the NB and using a good HSF. The overheating is out of the issue. aso i've set my rams to 5-5-5-12.

Hopefully there will be new bios coming up. |

There's a strap speed change which occur around +/- 20fsb from 400fsb. did u straight jump to 400fsb? I have the T965 express version. The non deluxe and non PT but Vista certifiy mobo. Added on May 25, 2007, 9:28 amanyways, gave some tests and played around with my setup yest. Funny thing is that, i got better stabilities when the rams are in the Orange slots instead of the greens. got my ES to 3.2ghz @ 1.45v.
