Why dont wanna get 965PT?? Actually they using same NB. Only diff is SB, and Deluxe have extra 2 SATA port.

ya, i know the different between deluxe and non-deluxe, but the deluxe 1 got raid feature, so i think it may useful if use more than 1 sata hd...
i think i will get the non-deluxe version la... sad.gif

All pro here, i'm going to get myself this mobo, but i heard AceCombat said that if wan OC, better change the NB cooler. So, rite now, i'm aiming Thermalright HR-05, izit suitable?
Or got any other recommendation? As cheaper as better la~ laugh.gif

Thanks! smile.gif

Any1 using 3rd party s/w to OC? Or jus OC in the bios? Since the Biostar built-in software "T-Utility Over Clock" look so "nice" and without any guide, i dunno how to OC rite now... wink.gif

Plus, the "T-Utility Hardware Monitor" will give me a wrong result for the temp and voltage. It is not accurate at all! What's the problem actually? hmm.gif

most ppl using bios setup setting to overclock...than using program like clockgen and memset in windows to fine tune it...

***both of u...pls read Fundamentals Of Overclocking to make sure u understand the basic 1st....link

sorry for that... blush.gif

So, the latest bios verson should be P96CA119rh2, rite? I refer to the Rebels Haven's website. Now mine is using the P96ca914bs which is the 1st released version, so can I upgrade to the latest version directly?

Just tried to OC from 1.86 to 2.33 (333 x 7), not able to go higher due to my sucking RAM limited me... I cant go higher than this since when the RAM speed higher than 667MHz, errors will occur definitely...

I discover another problem is, even I ald OC till 2.33, but the CPU-Z 1.38 just show me 333 x 6 which is only 1999GHz... sweat.gif Then, it will show me I'm using 965PT Deluxe Edition but I'm not.

One more thing, I cant run TAT at all, have anyone encounter the problem same like me? blink.gif Therefore, I use CoreTemp to read the temperature, guess wat, it show me 43C at idle temp. sweat.gif I don't think it is accurate coz my previous mobo, Gigabyte 945GM show me 48C at idle....

Honestly, why so many problems happen to me. Is the mobo problem? Or just the software compatibility problem? wink.gif

Try setting ur memory frequency in BIOS to 400Mhz. Set the CPU voltage to 1.325, FSB to 333. You should be able to go.
*
there are no 400MHz, just got auto, 533(1:1), 667, and 800 only. wink.gif
1.325 seems like too low, cant even boot into window. Just now prime with orthos, system not stable at all, not sure what is the problems. So, i tried to increase the vcore to 1.4v, vdimm to 2.0, errors still occur.... sweat.gif

*
sorry, might to explain wat is bad timing?

QUOTE(ben_panced @ Feb 14 2007, 10:26 PM)
why dun just up ur vdimm to 2.2v... most ddr2 can handle that vdimm without a fuss i think.
*
ya, most the ram can function even at 2.2 vdimm, actually i dun think it is necessary need to set it at 2.2v, but anyway, i will try at 2moro. Thanks ur advice! notworthy.gif

set the multiplier manually in bios...set it to 7...
*
I tried to ask the same questions in Rebel's forum, what answer i got is maybe it is thw windows problems, probably some applications reduce the multiplier.
Luckily it is not the mobo problem otherwise need take it bakc to RMA.... I'll will try to reinstall the OS c what will happen... blush.gif

When i try to run a full scan of virus by Kaspersky, my comp will hang or restart, is tat mean it is not stable enough?

I OC it from 1.86 to 2.33 with the default vcore(1.325) and 2.2 vdimm. Should I increase the vcore? But thr got no problem when i played game(Marvel:Ultimade Alliance), no hang or restart...

most of c2d can go 3.0Ghz above with stock vcore (1.325v)...not need to increase vcore if only 2.33Ghz...im really not sure what is ur problem sweat.gif ..it might be due to ur ram...
*
I also feel weird when asking such question... tongue.gif
Coz before I OC, i can run kaspersky very smoothly, but after OC, it will hang or restart like wat i said before. So, i assume that it is due to the low vcore problem...

Might be vCore too low. U can run Orthos Prime to test out the stabaility of ur setting. Sometime could be RAM prob, clock speed too high or vDimm too low. Or either NB voltage or NB too hot.. 965PT's NB is quite hot actually. Many possible...
Do some troubleshoot with Orthos b4 run 24/7.
*
Just prime it but not stable, error occur just for few minutes, i think should be the low vcore problem....
RAM should be ok i think, since i ald set it to 2.2v, timing 5-5-5-15.

3.6Ghz.... not too keen on it bro......just only for bragging rites. Running only on stock heatsink.... smile.gif wanna prolong my baby longer.... scared to overstretch her.

I've tried with 2 USB...one is DC adapter..... but i don;t understand why it works with 1 USB on my old P4, MSI boardP722 and normal PSU.

Is there a problem with Biostar 965 with 80gb portable HDD? My 40GB works just fine.

What screenshots do i need to post my O/C results? Havn't posted OC results b4..so pls do pardon me.

I noticed a lot of ppl post the CPU temp after they have completed their stress stress.... it kinda drops 5-10 'Celcius or even more after the stress test. I'll try to post mine in middle of da "Fever".

Cheers
*
are u using the stock NB's heatsink?

Update-- running Orthos, Biostar T-Utility shows 63-65 'Celcius.  sweat.gif
My Vcore is at 1.3125, FSB is 335*9
*
Biostar T-Utility actually given the lower temperature, if read in coretemp or TAT, the temp should around 71-73C...
Too bad, this mobo cant run TAT at all, coretemp always giving me some errors... sad.gif
