Wow, so didnt expect it to be this soon. Normal when they said Q2 will be May/June ma biggrin.gif
I might opt to go hexacore then, since still not yet order current processor. Hopes with lesser core, can overclock higher whistling.gif

Ryzen = AM4 board
AM4 = Ryzen & newer gen APU

Yes, AM4 board need newer bracket for cooler, one of the headache for early adopter. That day went to one shop check price, they dont even have AM4 compatible cooler at all.

No on board graphics system. You need to install a graphics card to use.

Hahaha, this is common method. Chat with computer store few days back, they did that to their test rig with 1800X because no compatible cooler available for them.
There's really interesting method if modding waterblock meant for CPU to use on GPU, zip tie come to rescue whistling.gif

If really want Ryzen, get a 2nd hand graphic card, or something like RX480 and sell later ( popular card, so should be easier sell )

Likely they modify current cooler to use it temporary, some custom made steel plate themselves sweat.gif

I hope it's not the manufacturing process limitation that limit R7 around 4.0Ghz-4.2Ghz, if it is then these lower end chip will get similar oc ceiling.

From my understanding, early batch sure have lower clock limit, once factory/manufacturer are more mature on chips manufacturing, peak can go up slightly higher.

Zen+ will be out by then. laugh.gif

Anyway, i was hoping to see 4C/8T Ryzen with only 1 CCX enabled to see if there is a different in gaming/overclocking performance if the Data Fabric is not in the way but i guess that is out.

We have confirmation from AMD that there are no silly games going to be played with Ryzen 5. The six-core parts will be a strict 3+3 combination, while the four-core parts will use 2+2. This will be true across all CPUs, ensuring a consistent performance throughout.

The overclock ceiling I think will be about the same.
It's just the manufacturing process. Just like before if you starts over clocking, the power goes up quite high. It is not designed for such thing.
It may improve if it uses different Revision/stepping. Otherwise Zen 2 hopefully should be better.
