Don't fiddle with voltage. Stock voltage would always work fine.

My 7950 stock boost voltage is not stable at all, artifacts everywhere after some time.

If the product isn't stable at stock voltage, please send it in for warranty / replacement.

Artifacts are usually memory chip related, perhaps you have something faulty with you there.
*
The card have Dual BIOS, i have zero problem on the 1st BIOS with 1.125v default voltage. The 2nd BIOS/Boost BIOS is the want i'm having trouble with, it come with a voltage lock@1.25v. I don't want to waste my time RMA-ing it for something that is easily fixable.

No problem with the memory chip. There's different kind of artifacts and the one i'm getting was caused by core voltage.

will APU benefit from DX12? I have a a10-7850k i want to see the performance increase on dx12, gaming on 720p is no issue on this chip as long the RAM is fast enough
*
On CPU side, yes. On gpu side, not that much imo.

AMD just taped out their first FinFet chips recently and that is most likely for their Zen lineup. There's no information on which process node though, 16nm/14nm.

QUOTE
“We have actually just taped-out our first couple of FinFET designs,” said Lisa Su, chief executive officer of Advanced Micro Devices, during the company’s earnings conference call with investors and financial analysts.
Ms. Su did not elaborate which of the future designs the company had taped out and when exactly this happened. Nonetheless, two tape-outs mean that the company has managed to successfully design its first products with FinFET transistors. Design of an advanced microprocessor that will be made using a FinFET process technology costs north from $150 million without the cost of photomasks needed for production. Therefore, the tape-out means that the vast majority of investments in these two chips have been made.

on the reason that amd's market share is dropping in Malaysia and this causes a shortaage in stock and also quality. IT seems more RMA are being done for AMD cards.
*
So they want to kill AMD market in Malaysia? Why does it affect quality as well? Which shop btw? laugh.gif
Yes, more RMA is being done for AMD cards in past years but mostly because of poor OEM quality control like ASUS VRAM issue on their 280/280x, PowerColor BIOS issue on 290/290x, MSI leaking fan issue.

Which R9-380 you planning to get and how much?

Just for argument sake, asus makes nvidia as well, do they suffer from simillar OEM QC issues ? I am rather new to this and just want to get your point of view.

I was thinking of getting a sapphire R9 380 4gb, around RM 900+.
*
Not so much because Nvidia have tighter quality control with their Green Light program which requires board partner to validate their board design with Nvidia before finalizing the product.

Sapphire is great, they are one of AMD's best board partner if not the best and their track record is good too.

That makes sense.

So do you suggest I go with the R9 380 over the the GTX 960 ?
*
Yes.
Powercolor R9-390 is only RM300+ more , if you can grab that it will be much much better imo.

R9 390 for 300 ? I think you mean 1300.  Where did you see that price ?

for RM300 more, yeah around RM1300+.

Anyway i saw Lingloong listed Sapphire R9-290 for around RM1200+, not sure if trolling or clearing up old stock so you better ask PM him yourself since this is a really good deal especially the Vapor-X.

Jim Keller left AMD. sad.gif Kinda abrupt.

QUOTE
Jim Keller, former Chief Architect of Microprocessor Cores, will leave the company today to pursue other opportunities.

Well known for his work during AMD's heyday, Keller (pictured) was involved in the creation of the original Athlon architecture, K7, and then served as a lead architect on K8. After playing an instrumental role in developing the world's first native x86-64 bit architecture, Keller later joined Apple and helped develop the company's A4 and A5 SoCs before rejoining AMD in 2012 to spearhead the firm's upcoming Zen architecture.

Speaking to HEXUS, an AMD spokesperson has stated that "Jim was responsible for overseeing the teams defining the roadmaps for AMD’s CPU cores, systems IP, and server and client SoCs. "

Attempting to allay any fears over the impact of Keller's departure, the company adds that "Jim helped establish a strong leadership team that is well positioned for success as we enter the completion phase of the “Zen” core and associated system IP and SoCs."

"Jim’s departure is not expected to impact our public product or technology roadmaps, and we remain on track for “Zen” sampling in 2016 with first full year of revenue in 2017."

Looking ahead, Mark Papermaster, AMD's Chief Technology Officer, will step in as acting leader for Keller's team and will now help oversee one of the most important products in the company's history.

AMD Reveals New AMD Pro Lineup: Carrizo, ARM TrustZone Onboard

user posted image

AMD's commercial product catalog just got a whole lot more powerful with the latest 6th generation AMD Pro Carrizo-based mobile processors. AMD said it improved raw performance from previous generations by 31 percent for graphics and 18 percent for multi-threaded performance, as well as a 19 percent boost in compute performance. In addition, AMD claimed it improved performance per watt in its latest generation APUs by 66 percent for graphics and 50 percent for multi-threaded tasks and compute performance.

These performance and efficiency gains aren't the only noticeable differences in the new AMD Pro lineup. These chips were purpose-built with security in mind and contain the all-new AMD Secure Processor, a dedicated coprocessor that leverages the open-standard ARM Trustzone, which provides a safe execution environment that is completely segregated from the rest of the silicon, with its own memory, buses, TEE and TPM. AMD plans to implement ARM TrustZone coprocessors in all future AMD Pro products.

Try the latest driver 16.1 Hotfix. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desk...Windows+10+-+64
Many claimed it fixed some corruption in Fallout 4, GTA5 and few other games.

Better that way, the sockets are not only old but they're fragmented. Would be great that future APU and CPU share the same socket.
