Anyone here heard of Elf Engine Oil ? is Elf Synthetic Pro 5-40W suitable for Toyota Vios ? 2nd generation
Currently using Eneos synthetic 10-30W

And also anyone here heard of ELF max booster ? Does that help car's performance ? Fuel consumption ?

Oh really? So I can extend until how far actually? 25K? hehe

yeap, I'm switching to boutique ATF as well, just started to realize that my daily ride needs more 'love'  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
hmm.. how much is that Motul ATF 1A? maybe I should give it a try, since you are recommending it.

yeah, I'm using dextron III

How is it? feel more power delivered?
Do you still pour the Lubegard Plat when using that Motul?
*
I'm not a believer of additives. Sort of. If you look after the GB well enough, you shouldn't ever need additives. Motul GB oil will cost you a lotta money, adding a RM90 bottle of additive is supposed to help how exactly?

Incidentally, if you're changing ATF soon, make sure you change the ATF filter. ATF very rarely will change colour since it's a closed system. If it does change colour you have a leak somewhere or is overcooking your GB too often and need a cooler.

using a 40 weight for a car that demands 30 weight will affect your FC to some extent. Stick to 30 weight la. Elf is a reputable brand, just stick with the right viscosity.

Never heard of booster sorry. Cannot comment nor would I use. Is the Elf oil brand that bad that it needs an additive to work optimally? That's kinda sad.

Elf is sister company of Total. They are reputable brands and make good oil, so should be no worries using those brands.
Don't know about the Max Booster though. I'd think don't waste money on such additional additives, coz if you're already using good engine oil then no need to add extra chemicals there coz good engine oil already have all those necessary additives etc2. Adding extra chemicals might not match well and be detrimental instead.

Yeah my ATF tends to get cooked all the time that I needed lubegard to have a decent service interval.
To give an idea, those cheap rm20 proton ATF only lasted me around /Less than 5k km on my auto Iswara and upon draining it smells burnt and its dark /brownish color laugh.gif

i believe most manufacturer recommends between 40-60k km.
just that our weather/traffic jams putting the ATF in much higher temperature/stress and it will thin out a LOT more. (remember how your dip stick have a check at cold/hot levels?)

ok Caltex ATF J was the go-to oil last time, it was semi synthetic at iinm 36/liter
now raised price, 39/liter.

motul ATF 1A was like rm50/liter for fully synthetic.
im not sure if they got raise price recently, but for small difference, i decided that motul ATF 1A was much better than caltex ATF-J

no power difference, but shifts were much faster/crisp. smile.gif
after motul, i no longer use lubegard.
with Caltex ATF J i still did. ultimate my butt dyno says motul ATF 1A > Caltex ATF J + lubegard, never tried motul + lubegard as the transmission performance/specs can no longer improve anyways (it was a very old 3 speed at box since 1999, the designs and usage date was since the 1980's)

I have decided, and bought the motul ATF 1A from zhapalang last weekend, tongue.gif
Put it to my fren's Myvi, as a tester, notice less jumping when changing gear which is a good start I guess, knowing that there is still old ATF inside the torque converter.

Pricing wise, RM55 each, not including GST, if really will last longer than usual with same performance, quite reasonable I guess.

Hmm, noted on the filter part and thanks nod.gif
As for additives, after getting the motul, will not add on any additives, 1st is because of budget, 2nd just like u said, maybe its overkill

I don't really see the need to add in additives to GB if one regularly changes the oil every 20k km... I've done this to all my ride, no problem at all. Even add on transmission cooler

you're only addressing temperature, this is addressing fluid longevity and viscosity/friction modification.
additives have their place, in fact they are pre-added to almost all products you buy on the market.

they are just not commonly encouraged/prohibited by most oil manufacturers because they simply cannot stand behind/vouch other brands/products compatibility.

then there's the issue of cost.
For example: using amsoil signature series is way cheaper than say, motul 300v, however if i add in nanolube ws2 and liqui moly ceratec, it easily goes well over rm500 and thats easily way more expensive than motul 300v which already have very good additive package and a strong ester based base oil.

see, manufacturer specs the ATF to be serviced much longer than 20k km (even the old 1990's 3 speed autos are specced 40k km afaik), however with how conventional ATF is along with our weather/traffic jam, even 20k km may not be sufficient.
for example, my 1999 iswara 3 speed auto when using purely rm20ish/liter proton ATF(spIII), it only last until 5k ish km where i get some car "transmission morning sickness" where by it has a huge delay in shifting until the car warms up.
so upon draining, the fluid is very watery (just visual alone it looks like water as opposed to being oil and it flows rather fast as well) and is brown/black in color as opposed to deep red and smells absolutely horrible.

5k km.
lubegard alone on the same ATF can extend this to easily over 20k km and even upon draining the fluid doesn't look watery and doesn't smell as bed, and still retains the red'ish color.
