can a regular API SN semi-synthetic engine oil last for 1 year with mileage not reaching 8k km? Currently already 9 months but just barely 5k km, i thought to be "green" minded for not wasting it. daily driving but heavy traffic jam at kl area.

a UOA is a sure fire way, but if you don't want to be spending so much, there are other methods (obviously less accurate) as well such as observing (through dip stick or other means) the oil viscosity (not too thick/sticky, or watery), or if your engine is feeling sluggish, or any performance degradation.

I see, but where can I send for UOA? How much does it cost? I always see foreigner's forum mentioned that, didn't aware our country has this service.

TeXXo selling brand for FULLY SYN 5W40

mobil1, Shell, Castrol, Total..

recently new brand added such as Elf, Repsol....

price range from Rm139 to rm200.

however, it seem like alot foreman say those ARE
Old oil (mfg 2013-14),
heavy oil (xW40),
maybe fake oil (not from local distributor),
API SM (newest is SN),
etc

any suggestion to hamtam balik...>.<

Old oil (mfg 2013-14), -- some are old stock, check the oil production date
heavy oil (xW40), -- mostly are xw40, those energy saving such as mobil xw20 seldom can get cheap price
maybe fake oil (not from local distributor), -- not from local distri x= fake oil
API SM (newest is SN), -- api sl also i pun guna, not driving luxury 300k car, or drive for another 10 years

but the bottle does not mentioned blended by D.K. Lubricants, maybe got tiny chance the TopValu from D.K. is actually referring to another brand? haha.

Sapu liao topvalu fully synthetic, since API SN grade, I might wanna try OCI in 10-12 months since my driving is very short distance (hardly 5000km in 10 months). Hope it's genuine API SN oil not 1 specimen lab test use that good oil only...

i asked around, most comments i got was somewhere along the line of "you waiting to change engine is it?"

and no, i don't use an oil cooler even though i brought the car to Sepang track days.

engine oil 129'c already consider high?
used to seen the meter pointing at 130'c when dragging on 3rd gear, which is only mid-point, max is 170'c. so i guess 130's is still normal. that time i still remember using some mineral 20w50 oil.

thanks for the photos. front and back exactly same picture (yes i noticed the handle and oil cap position), and not much "introductory" content written (such as cleaner engine, fuel saving etc)...
more chinese word, china product instead of japan? or "made in japan" is actually a brand name? brows.gif

Is their ISOSYN similar to fully synthetic performance? Group 2+ oil?

i wouldn't know.

what i do know from random quick google, is it has high TBN:
https://cglapps.chevron.com/msdspds/PDSDeta...1&docFormat=PDF
although it is not in english, the ASTM D2896 = TBN:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_base_nu...c_Determination
http://www.pqiamerica.com/TBN.htm

also from google, while this may not be the newer MGX, and it IS caltex/chevron sales pitch... however still good for reference:

*
ok, browse their malaysia website, saw got caltex delo sports "synthetic blend". so they still mix with synthetic oil blend, seems performance of isosyn filtration technique might not be a "direct" replacement of fully syn oil...

Not sure what brand but pack in can purple colour.

For me it is good cause can eliminate valve sound.

Yesterday already bought another can for next service.

I'm also experimenting Aeon TopValu (not from Aeon Big) engine oil for my campro, fully synthetic around that price also. So far ok no differs with well-known branded semi-synthetic oil I used all the while. Fully-synthetic oil at the price of semi-syn really value for my wallet money.. rclxms.gif

yeah just checked, mine isn't printed on either.
maybe older batch lacks ester? who knows.
it doesn't have the "resource conserving" labeled on their API certification when API themselves certified it.

if i'm to guess, it could be an outdated formula, which doesn't necessarily mean it's bad especially if you're using it on dated engines/vehicles.

my pictures/feedback based solely on them as it is still a LONG time (in about half a year at least? lol) before i start using theses.

copied from my google plus photo album share - "This is my first experience on buying engine oils off Lazada and i must say, it is a positive one nonetheless especially considering with the sub MYR100 pricing."

From photo there's no manufacturing date printed on?

they advertised a lot 10 years back, then disappeared from market... now seems they're back..
used to see their ad - no burn smell on their engine oil...
