Hopefully not like what happened to Trident 17...

Murphy Oil To Sell Nearly A Third Of Malaysian Assets For $2B

Sept 30 (Reuters) - U.S. oil company Murphy Oil Corp said it would sell 30 percent of its oil and gas assets in Malaysia for $2 billion in cash to Indonesian state-oil company Pertamina as it cuts overseas holdings to focus on an improving home market.
The transaction is subject to the approval of Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas company, Petronas, Murphy Oil said in a statement.
Reuters reported earlier this year that Arkansas-based Murphy Oil, which has interests in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei and Australia, was seeking buyers for its Malaysian assets.

Hi guys! I have a question here.

Would it be possible for a fresh graduate in Malaysia to apply for OnG jobs (drilling&completion) overseas such as China?

I have had previous 7 months internship in Baker Hughes and i would like to venture into overseas if that's possible.

Possible. But don't get your hopes high. hmm.gif

Hi all, I was called by Baker Hughes Singapore for the interview of electromechanical technician position (non-field job). I am a fresh grad with a degree in mechanical engineering. My first choice is actually to become a field engineer. Since it is hard to get into O&G industry, I am thinking perhaps I can start with this position and learn the basics of the industry. But I have some doubts, hoping to find an answer here.

1. May I know what is the career path for this position? Does it has a good prospect?
2. If I perform well, do I get to be promoted as engineer? Or I would stuck as technician for my entire career in the company?

Thank you and really appreciate if all of you can clear my doubts.

They don't offer you as junior engineer? I hardly see degree holder work as technician..but anyway i think there is the chance to promote as engineer.

It is good that you are willing to take up the technical position. Most of the times, the HR of the company will consider moving you around ( change department/ promoted to engineer) after a year of employment. ( subject to discussion with your department manager.) Its Baker Hughes, you have a lot to learn and vast opportunity to grow from inside the company itself.

If you have another option of job offering you an engineering position with better prospect, then you should know which one to choose.
