Sad leh, NUS grads in MNC. Just after SARS, SG kena recession, properties drop drop drop drop like grapes, everywhere no job. Engineering very hard to catch up finance already, engineers dug their own graves long ago. Say for my fiance, director of a medium size consultants and compare with myself an admin in bank, salary difference by almost twice. Hopefully next batch to dig their own graves are lawyers, kanasai so expensive, hehe.

Thanks. Actually I wanna ask..if I landed myself on SME, will that be tough to hit back MNC again?
Or it will be better when I join MNC in Msia and change to S'pore MNC somedays later?

Hi wanna ask about tax.

For first year workers, you are getting taxed for 15% if u worked in SG less than half year right? Does that count until 31 Dec of every year only?

Btw, I read that the 1st 22k is exempted from tax, but is this applicable for both non-tax residents n tax residents, or only tax residents?
Thanks
*
Just ask the SG tax man when you fill the tax form next year.

Even if you kena max % as you are a non-tax resident for that year, you can claim back the extra you paid by year 2 or 3 as the tax resident is calculated not yearly but also as a stretch of days in x number of year.

Same for Malaysia, if you have worked as a tax resident for > 3 years, the last year if you worked say 5 months and leave for SG, you are still regarded as a MY tax resident and get all the deductions. Check the IRAS and LHDN website or the old thread as I wrote something about this previously.
