hi folks, I would like to convert MY driving license to SG driving license. I have passed the BTT exam. From my understanding, I need to get a driving record from JPJ. What I should tell them (eg: license conversion)? Do I need to surrender MY driving license to JPJ? Is it possible to hold 2 licenses at the same time. Thanks smile.gif
*

legally, you are not supposed to hold a MY and SG licences.
in real life, jpj sometimes do not even bother to blacklist your license

QUOTE(athrun300 @ Apr 19 2014, 08:01 PM)
It's a coincidence that i also passed my BTT today. JPJ will take your licence as you cannot hold 2 license at the same time. Hope it help.
*

says who?
i still have my MY license and i am very sure a lot of ppl here still do
the most is they will blacklist your license.

QUOTE(razo2 @ Apr 21 2014, 08:53 AM)
Yes is possible. In Johor only. In malaysia land everything is possible with bribe.
*

so u are promoting corruption?
and why only johor?
whole MY only johor got JPJ? doh.gif doh.gif

Because only JPJ Johor allows such thing.

I heard that is possible. I know someone that knows how to do it. But I do not support it.

I can take cab under company. rclxm9.gif So, dont need to drive. I know it is possible but my company is amo, so no corruption allowed.
*

you require the extract from JPJ to convert your license which all JPJ in MY should be able to do it and not exclusively in JPJ Johor.
you can even get someone else to retrieve the extract from JPJ on your behalf as long as they have the required documents and pay for the processing fee of RM10.
so JPJ johor allows what?

amo company corruption not allowed...non-amo corruption is allowed? what BS is this?

*some stupid rambling abt corruption*

Basically is just paper work which does not go through the database/official channel.

Regarding the corruption, that is your assumption to make such statement. I am just stating my company rules as most MNC company have strict clause about corruption, pretty common practice.
*

first off...the original question was whether one can retrieve an extract, convert the license and still hold on to their MY license.
u came and said it is only possible in jpj johor with a bribe, which i am clearly saying that is not true.
so dafuq with the bribe explanation

for the corruption case, i only started by asking if u are promoting corruption since u mentioned bribing jpj
you are the one that started saying because u work in amo company so corruption is a no no.
one does not need any company clause to be against corruption
from that, i am interpreting that you are just hiding behind some clause to defend yourself and you were the one who bribed the jpj instead of hearsay.

I just got my driving history extract from JPJ KL. This is the second time I got it. The 1st time I got it also in KL. They never chop and sign the letter and didnt provide me receipt as well. When I submit to driving center in ubi for conversion, the officer do not accept it. She said the letter must either with chop and signed by the officer or attached with a receipt. She show me other ppl's letter with chop and signed by officer. My colleague got the jpj extract from penang, no chop and sign also. Officer do not accept it. Last friday I went back kl and go jpj to get again. The jpj staff provide me receipt but refuse to sign and chop. They said the extract is computer genearated and do not need to sign and chop. When I about to leave the jpj office, I saw the ketua of the jpj smoking downstair. I talked to him and asked him to help, then I passed to him, he chop and signed. When he sign, his staff still make noise, said why need sign and chop. I told thm I gonna travel to Australia and gonna drive there in order to get the extract. They never blacklist or do anything, just print out. I guess most of the ppl got the extract witH chop and sign are from JB JPJ, because the jpj in jb familiar with the sg officer requirement and they know you need it for conversion, so they will do that. So when u get the letter from JPJ, must get the receipt, try to get thm sign n chop. If  not sg wont accept. When I getting the letter, the staff even ask me do I want to change my license to the new type by extending 1 more year. My license expire 2018. For your info, malaysian holding malaysia driving license can drive a year without conversion provided you are not PR. I have called traffic police in sg to clarify. I m driving without converting, I still have no time to do my conversion. Work permit holder not allowed to drive.
*

eh...they did not accept your extract without chop in ubi?
my friend and i had our extract without chops too...just a statement like computer generated, no signature required.
we both tried woodlands on different days...got rejected and the officer insisted on us going to jb to re-do the extract sweat.gif sweat.gif
however, we tried ubi as another colic went there but he could not remember his extract having any chop or not doh.gif doh.gif ...and we got it done around oct or nov
my wife converted hers after CNY...also without the chop or anything.
weird case... sad.gif sad.gif

answer to your first questions is obviously yes. I dont know for certain if this can be done other than JB JPJ office. But I am sure JPJ JB does this forged paper work . I seen my friend holding both MY and SG licence. It is obvious that if i had known the process I must have known someone that did it before. Learn to read carefully.

Also please learn not to ASSUME people of doing such actions, nonetheless stating it in public. It makes you look very immature. First thing I dont even need such "doggy" paper work because I have an Australian licence. Why bother paying that money when SG accepts Australian licence.

Learn to hold back your words. Think before you make assumptions.
*

learn to write properly before you ask others to read properly.
you mentioned in johor ONLY...and bribes.
if you only know of one way and uncertain of others, then do not include words like ONLY which makes it a single option.

u know of such process because obviously you know someone who did it?!
u expect that kind of stand to hold?
knowing of a process can also be through experience..meaning you went through the process yourself
get the logic?
this is the internet...you can say what u want and others can believe what they want
u can claim to have license from every country in the world, and it is very much up to anyone to believe your claim.

yes, i am being immature and very anal with your statements because they are misleading...bite me then.
and like a lot of ppl have clarified, there is no dodgy paper work involved...and you are guiding people to support a corrupt system.

I was told that only johor can be easy.
I am just listing that one place that is certain that you can do such paper work.
If you want to know about other states, please look it up.

I know something that does not mean I had done it. Numb nuts.

It is up to you to believe if I have an Australian licence.

I am just giving my 2 cents. Bite you? you wish.
*

if u replied initially with the first paragraph, everything would have been clearer
others will fill in the blanks which u are unsure as u are stating what u know instead of making what u know the only single option available
and for someone who claims to not support corruption because one works in an amo company with strict clause against corruption to guide others to bribe is amazing...as amazing as our current government back home.

u said that u know the process because obviously u know someone who went thru it.
i am just telling u...it is NOT OBVIOUS because by going thru the same process urself, u also know the process
in fact, you will know the process even better
and i am nuts because of this doh.gif doh.gif very logical

Best is you try it out yourself.
You would not want to get a wrong estimate and be late on your first day of work right?

yeah...go in with the white card first...then go do medical checkup...
after getting your medical report...
pass it to your HR to make appointment to go MOM for thumbprint...
during this time u will also pass the white card to them and wait they sent the pass to your company a few days later smile.gif

don't have idea on the plan as i register as subline under my uncle who's living here laugh.gif
my current plan is $39 per month under M1 telco...slowly survey which plan and telco suit u best smile.gif
*

eh...they changed the procedure?
last time, my ep process was as follow.
1. bla bla bla...
2. get IPA
3. do medical if applicable (report may be sent to company if medical center appointed else collect yourself and pass to company)
4. make appointment with MOM for work pass registration and finger printing using white card thru company (white card still held by you), they just need the serial number i think
5. appear in MOM with all the docs
6. 4 working days later go back to MOM collect the pass

btw, this is for EP...not sure about other pass...

it is not that i want to spoil the market but i felt that a company would rather hired local (SG/PR)then a malaysian if my salary is on par .
not sure what i did is right or wrong hmm hmm.gif
*

i do not know the market rate for ur field...so i cannot comment much on the salary.
i was in ur shoes before my wife (back then fiancee) came to sg first.
i know the desperate feeling of u wanting to be with your partner and the frustration of not even getting calls for interview. (it took me 6 months to secure a job and i had 5 years of experience back then)
all i can say is keep trying...your fiancee can help too by searching for openings in her company
get a sg prepaid number and state the number in your resume...it will help.

Those like low cost house. Cause I heard cannot take loan if no income or whatever, if never pay income tax, when buy property they sometimes will come ransack your house and ask for income tax payback. So if working in Sg, can entitle to these loans and stuff? Especially the low cost house.
*

1. low cost housing are meant for low income citizens, even in MY. are u a citizen in sg?
2. who would want to give you a loan if you have no income thus meaning you are unable to repay the loan?

Getting PR will lower you employability in the eyes of sweatshops companies as well  tongue.gif

how do u even equate 36%
unless your employer pays you the 16% they are supposed to pay to CPF if they hired a sgporean or pr, then where do u get that 16%
sweatshops do not pay u that 16%

when applying for PR for baby, did you submit the following document ?

Employer’s letter from sponsor and applicant (if applicable) stating the date of employment, position held, salary per month for the last 6 months with breakdown into basic, overtime and allowance per month (see item 7 below). The letter, addressed to the Controller of Immigration, should be dated within 1 month from the date of submission.

dun think my wife went to get any letter from her employer
oh ya...no appointment needed also for baby

u can also call them on what is required to be sure.

im working in malaysia, thinking to work in singapore, and i have a main concern before moving there, hope i can get a clear answer from here.

1. im single and 29, should i stay in malaysia with Rm4500-5000 income? or should i go to sg with SGD4500?
2. if i work in sg, i plan it to be long term, so how much income for an average family should have with 2 kids in sg? says staying in apartment(rent or owned) and owned a C segment car? (i have no idea about the hosing loan and car OTR will cost, brief in details would be very appreciate) smile.gif
*

1. this is a no brainer question. RM4.5k or SGD4.5k
2. family with 2 kids. will your family be on a sole breadwinner? are your parents/parents-in-law willing to come over and look after the grandkids? are you able to trust a maid to look after your kid? if you answer no to all the question, it will be a very big burden on the breadwinner. it is not impossible, but it will be tough.
child care is abt 700-800 per child. infants (2-18 months) are 1.4k+

Owning a roof is definitely better than renting but there is a common issue all of us face, the initial payment. even for hdb, you need to prepare roughly 30% of the price for everything.

Car...that will be a luxury. alternative is car sharing.
