Hey guys I have been sending resume to companies in Singapore but no reply even to an interview so far. I was wondering if the period of notification is the problem as my company needs 3 months period of notification. What are your views? I'm in engineering field, but not in building services, more to heavy machineries. Should I send in letter, so that I can put my availability as an exact date?

i think no company would keep a post 3 months just for you. Your odds or landing a job with such condition is almost 0%, unless they badly need you for your 'rare' set of skill or qualification in which they can't find elsewhere.
If not, good luck.

So I think the best way still is to be available immediately. Thanks for your info bros. I heard that now is much more difficult for Malaysians to get a job in Singapore, is it true that lots of company in Singapore is laying off people still?

so your company gt case of buy off? if yes then you can stat it as an alternative...
*
You mean buy off means I pay the 1month salary back to the employer?

Guys, i got a question. I got an offer from a company in singapore but they are paying quite low salary to me. I was thinking, at the same time I wanna look for other jobs as well. They say they will submit application for S-Pass for me. My questions is, at the same time I'm going for interview for other companies, and if another company offer me higher and i wanna accept the other company first, then the other company will submit application for me for the s-pass as well right? or maybe e-pass. Will this submittion be dangerous? is it the second company that submit the application will definitely reject since the government already see my application?

Will I be blacklisted if i get the s-pass for the first company, then i work there maybe 2 months, got a better offer and jump company to another company?

guys i need your help. A company in singapore offered me a low pay job and applied s-pass for me. i didn't sign any offer letter nor contract for employment, but they applied and they told me the application is approved. another company called me for a better offer which i'm more keen to join that company. but i was told, if i tell the previous company that i'm still considering and ask them to cancel the previous application, it will affect my next application. Any advise from sifus here?

I checked with my HR friend d. one IPA can only be issued at one time, and if the previous company didn't cancel it, the new company cannot apply... :'( and also for the old company, if they want to complain to mom, might get blacklisted...

dbs/posb... lots of atms but usually with a long line... if you do open one at this bank do get their 'passion' debit card, lots of perks
i would prefer uob over ocbc.. like the perks of their credit cards, my former salary account
if you do get ocbc, get their ntuc card...

others
standchart, convenient if you want an easy way to trade stocks with no  min. brokerage
maybank, if you want to connect your msian bank acct n finance msian properties
citi/anz/hsbc, for their credit card perks n free signup goodies

Maybe due to qualification?

For S Pass:

Educational qualifications
-A degree, diploma
-Technical certificates can be considered. These are, very broadly, courses that train the applicant to be a qualified technician or specialist in their chosen field. ---The certification should comprise of at least one year of full-time study.

- See more at: http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...h.cEUcFlrY.dpuf
But I'm not sure how strict is MOM towards these requirements coz my pay is lower than the range set by them yet I got my EP approved. Supposed 3.3k only get EP right?  rclxub.gif

I think it also depends on what line you are in, and whether you are fresh graduate or not.

fresh graduate is easier to get epass, if you have been working for long, then they also require your salary to be higher.

hi guys wanna ask you, i heard that if the HR of current company in KL knows that you are leaving to overseas to work for good (singapore etc.), they will hold your final pay as it is required by the malaysia government and you are required to settle all your tax for this year before leaving. is it true? Anyone knows about this?

Yes. If you are leaving the country you are responsible for getting tax clearqnce from irb. Only on getting the tax clearance your company will release ur pay. The reason why this is the case. . Is if theres unsettled taxes they were go aftrr your employer
*
but if i settle the tax now, then i will miss a lot of tax relief right? cause i still have insurance to pay every month until end of the year. Since that the tax for this year usually only need to be cleared next year, then they will only come after the employer if i don't settle it next year right? in that case, if i settle it next year, should not be a problem right? i just don't let me current employer know that i'm going where to work next.

it just sounds like you are to settle the tax now.
technically, u can still file it next year as per normal cycle
y u ask? because the form for income tax filing is not available yet for the year 2014
further more, if u have PCB...you are actually paying more and they need to refund u
the clearance is just for income tax department to say okay then company issue a CP21 (leaving country version of EA form in my opinion...LOL)
*
Cause I just don't want the company to hold my pay like that. Since that I'm leaving the country and have PCB every month, I'm quite sure is that the government will owe me money. But if I settle the tax now, I will miss quite a lot of tax relief. I'm planning to just tell my current employer that I haven't found any job yet and still finding locally so that they won't hold my last pay. Then next year only I settle the tax with them actually.

Just don't like the idea of my last pay being hold like that.

In the first place why do you need to tell your current employer anything?

no la, means i have to keep quiet and not even let my colleagues or anyone in my company know where i'm going next. news travel very fast in our company, one colleague know, the whole company will know d...

i scared the company want me to sign a letter saying that i won't be going overseas or something like that...

Difficult employee problems. .. or you just dont trust ur ex co?

Just lazy to follow up and have to settle the tax issue earlier then do amendment or missed out on the tax relief.

QUOTE(razo2 @ Sep 8 2014, 12:18 PM)
Good reason why you should never ever trust your company employees or any other company in the future.

I know it is your good intention to tell others about your career advancement, but life is not as simple as it is. People can get jealous and stab you in the back.

Be wiser next time.
*
You're right

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Sep 8 2014, 01:31 PM)
that rule was set by the government, not the company
i doubt the company would like to hold your pay and waste resources keeping track on when they can pay u back instead of paying u when u leave.
like i said, it just sounds like u need to pay the tax now
when i left, i did not even deal with the income tax dept at all.
i resigned, company held my pay for abt a month, i filed my tax as if i was still working in MY in april/may during the filing season.
*
Yeah I understand. but i just don't like my pay being held and have to follow up whether they will pay in future or not. if i have to wait till next year, means they will hold my pay up to next year april? Thats just too long...

hi guys, I'm a malaysian working in singapore. I have a question regarding conversion of malaysian driving license to singapore driving license. I have heard that, if i do the conversion, I will need to give up my malaysian driving license. is that true? I know that the procedure is to get the extract from JPJ, then go to singapore take BTT and then after pass, submit for conversion. but i'm worried about the giving up malaysian license, as my company will need me to drive in singapore and in malaysia. any idea anyone?
