@soulfly,
I am using default Vcore for both CPU and chipset, I didnt use RAM divider as I have no idea on how the settings should be, I just set it to auto SPD or 667MHz, I read a review earlier that this mobo have to raise the chipset volt. to perform stable on >250MHz FSB

and the HTT multiplier?? Dunno about that, just set it to 800MHz rclxub.gif

Is gigabyte mobo reliable?

Coz i'm currently using a MSI MS-7253 (K9VGM-V)
Chipset = VIA K8M890+VT8237A (i'm just copy from the box)

So do i really need to change this MSI mobo to better mobo? I need a mobo that is affordable and durable only..

Pls give ur comments, TQ very much!

I'm not familiar with your BIOS parameters but I assume that it uses MHz value for the HTT multi, ie: 1000MHz = 5x, 800MHz = 4x, 600MHz = 3x, 400MHz = 2x, 200MHz = 1x

Hypertransport speed should always be around 1000MHz or less (in certain cases, slightly high will not harm as well). So, with 250MHz FSB, the ideal multiplier should be 4x which is 800MHz value in your case.

If you are not sure whether your RAM will limit your overclocking, set the DDR2 on divider. For the values, please refer to 1st page for the table. Don't ask why is it like that... it's meant to be like that.

If you cannot prime or cannot rum SuperPi, that means either your RAM or cpu not stable... add more voltage.

Chipset voltage increament wont help cpu or ram overclocking... it's not the same as Intel or AMD socket A.

I think this guide could help. Everything you should know about Athlon 64/ sempron 64 overclocking ... and Please read the Clock generation on AMD 8th-Gen Platforms first!

Hurm, its quite simple actually.i'll try my best to give examples to make u understand how to calculate it..

First u need to find the table which cpu multiplier u are running.in the first post there are 12 tables, so if u're cpu multiplier is 9x, then read the respective table. Next just calculate the ddr2 speed from the respective ddr2 divider. For example, if u're running 9x multiplier, a divider of 400 will give a ram freq of CPUSpeed/9. 533 divider will give a ram freq of CPUSpeed/7, 667 divider will give ram freq of CPUSpeed/6, and 800 divider will give ram freq of CPUSpeed/5..

1st Case:
Ur cpu multiplier is 9x, and the HTT is 278Mhz.Ur resulting CPU speed is around 2.5Ghz.
If you use a 400 Divider, the resulting DDR2 speed is (2500/9)*2=278*2=DDR556.
If you use a 533 Divider, the resulting DDR2 speed is (2500/7)*2=357*2=DDR714.

2nd Case:
Ur cpu multiplier is 8x, and the HTT is 333Mhz.Ur resulting CPU speed is around 2.66Ghz .
If you use a 400 Divider, the resulting DDR2 speed is (2660/8)*2=333*2=DDR666.
If you use a 533 Divider, the resulting DDR2 speed is (2660/6)*2=443*2=DDR887.

Hope this helps smile.gif And pls correct me if i'm wrong..

okay i kinda get it now, my ram is 667 and i juz add some fsb speed won't really harm my RAM rite. i'm not gonna go extreme as i'm VERY new to cpu overclocking for now

can original AMD HSF for AM2 stand of OC?
the computer dealer in lowyat told me that it can if i OC
as long as i change my PSU
he is right, but he is wrong as well.

Here's my explanation.

AMD stock heatsink is good, but to a certain extent. The heatsink is a full aluminium block, it wont be that good in absorbing heat compare to copper or aftermarket copper heatsinks. With higher voltage and higher clockspeed, a good aftermarket heatsink is a must. My cpu goes up to 61'C - 62'C on stock heatsink when I'm running 2.8GHz at 1.55V, that is why I have not try to improve my overclocking yet.

To make it short, we need good heatsink to make sure the cpu temp does not exceed its limit. High temp limits maximum overclocking.

Not changing psu doesn't mean that you cannot overclock. You can still overclock but there are 2 main circumstances you will face with normal psu or cheap cap ayam psu (that includes Power Logic or iCute or those CHEAP fancy brands):
- system instability because of psu not providing clean voltage output
- not being able to reach maximum overclocking

... or in worse cases, you got the PSU blown.

Air zeon is consider cheap ka? One thing for sure using my current psu(colorsit or something the brand) if i up vcore past 1.3, psu will emit hotter air and sometimes smell in the air like something burn. What psu good for moderate OC in the range of rm150-rm200?

Air zeon i believe is a no-no, if u want cheap but ok try lookin for the lowend model under brands like enlight, acbel, enermax to name a few.... It's much worth it...
