Hi kmarc,

Can i know which branch and staff you speak to on the 30k FD pledge? Hopefully i cam speak to a staff who is familiar with this pledge.

Im interested to upgrade from mbb2cards platinum to premier. Currently holding mbb VS as well.

Thank you.

I just went to the main branch in Sibu and told them I wanted the card. Was subsequently directed to the staff doing credit cards. Since my annual income doesn't meet the criteria, they said no problem, just pledge 30k FD. Can take out the FD once my income fulfills the criteria.

Mbb treatspoints can now be used to redeem asia miles points. 4500 tp to 1000 am points just like enrich.

But looking at the points requirement to redeem flight, it is at least 20 to 40% higher than MAS. They have 3 tiers for redemption & its not guaranteed. The more points u use, the higher chance of getting it.

with extra 33% extra miles when redeem Asia Miles, higher points are offset as well..
not to mention Cathay business class look better than MAS..
the bad are no direct flight to Europe and you need to transit in Hong Kong..
unless you redeem for British Airway..

Wow, you dine there even before having privileges? Which restaurants do you recommend? TQ

Highly recommend PRIME at Le Meridien KL Sentral & Prego at The Westin (opposite of Pavilion).

PRIME specialise in steaks but it's is kind of costly and in the other hand, Prego serve great Italian dishes at an affordable price.

Do try out Prego's Risotto, mouth-wateringly yummy, imagine how the smooth melting cheese slide through your tongue and the rich flavor of mushroom mixed with cheese lingers around the tip of your nose, every bite make me feel like I'm rolling on beds of Cheeseee Lands. drool.gif

What a steal to dine in at a comfortable ambience at only 50% for 2 person and to make it better, the 10% service charge + 6% tax is only applicable on after discount price that make the next visit so tempting! tongue.gif

Business on CX regional flights (A330, 772, A340) are recliner seats only. Business on MH regional (772, A330) are angle flat. Way nicer to be on MH here.

Business on CX long haul (77W) are lie flat and are comparable to business on MH A380 only. If you're stuck on an MH 772 route then CX long haul business is significantly better.

On the whole I prefer CX business and don't mind the HKG transit, lots of lounges to choose from at HKG although you waste several hours of flight time that could be part of your vacation.

I've never redeemed AM, only Enrich, AAdvantage and Avios. Redeeming any award seat on MH will incur YQ or fuel surcharges. Redeeming award on CX has little or no YQ if you're using AAdvantage or Avios. My MH business class to/from Los Angeles (back when they still flew there) cost me RM2+k for taxes and YQ. My CX business class from Los Angeles only cost me ~US$110.

I have about RM20k to spend over paypal in the next month or so. Transactions will be in USD so will it make more sense to use Visa Infinite or Amex Reserve? Both should give me 5x TP since it's overseas spending. I get to skip Paypal's horrible conversion rates since it's charged in USD but which is more worthwhile or is there even any difference?

TIA.

From my experience, Amex reserve exchange rate is usually better. I'll dig out my last statement and do a recentish comparison

Thanks @herc and @rjb123 for the info. I've been trying out the Amex Reserve for my orders at Amazon, will probably use the VI/AR on my overseas trip next week to experiment as well.

To Bro Gen-X,

I just collect my MBB2 Premier.

Pledge using FD promo rate of 4% upfront, seems like MBB doesn't really stick to pledge FD using base rate.

The other day when me at Taiwan, Hong Kong, VI gives better rate too.

So can we summarize that in Europe/US, AR better and in Asia, VI is better?

You sign up at branch or card centre? I'm considering this option as well.
