hi guys, want to ask some guidance here.

I'm currently using MBB 2 Card Plat. Majority of my purchases are for company purchase which runs about 2-5k a month. This is excluding my own expenses. including own expenses, my bill every month is around 6k, sometimes more. I'd like to apply for the 2Card premier considering that the benefits behind it.

However, my annual income does not meet the requirement. I read that it's possible to do FD pledge to get this card. How do you guys go about it? Call the card center or walk in to the bank? What's the minimum about required to pledge?

Anyone tried asking for waiver of the annual fees if spending is less than 80k? lets say annual usage around 60k, would they waive the annual fees?

sorry typo on annual usage of 6k. It's 60k. Depending on time, may even exceed up to 100k cos of company expenses (flight tickets & etc).

Thanks for the advice. Will submit application to the card center in Gardens.

Just got my card approved after going through the process of pledging 20k fd.. Short version, it was a nightmare. It was a hassle as the maybank branch didn't want to help me process. Mid valley card center told me should receive the card over the weekend. Maybank got promo now for 12 mth fd with 4% interest. best part, they pay the profit upfront. So that goes into another FD to earn interest on FD. smile.gif

Btw, saw that Starwood privillege is until 31 dec.. gosh.. i hope they renew this as this is one reason why i went for the card.. Wife & I used to hit Favola & Eest for their food..

I read that some of u guys get bonus TP. Is it from activating the card? I applied and got a supplimentary card for my wife. How much points total can get arr? The supplimentary card TP is together with main acc?

They allow you to pledge your FD on the 4% promo

I pledge and they tell me must be board rate -.-
*
I did it the other way, i went to the bank and say i want to open a FD account. Don't tell them you are doing it to get the credit card. Once open di, only reveal that you are pledging it for the card.

Come to think of it, maybe that's why they were very reluctant to process my application and had to go through abit of hassle. biggrin.gif. But at the end of it, it's customer's rights. 4% for RM 25k and they pay the interest upfront to another account.

QUOTE(GOLILA @ Dec 31 2014, 10:43 PM)
how much ur credit limit?
*
Std RM 30k. I was using their Platinum card before this with RM 10k limit. The Premier 2Card has a minimum limit of RM 30k. So it's RM 30k - RM 10k = RM 20k FD pledge.

QUOTE(bearbear @ Jan 1 2015, 08:43 AM)
Well at least they waive it first year, worst case enjoy a year and cut it biggrin.gif
*
I believe if using FD pledge, they'll waive the annual fees. My mom has a VI card due to her high FD account and they don't charge the annual fees for the card even through she only use about RM 1-2k a month (which adds up to RM 24k a year).

Worst case is, use the FD interest to offset lo. The 2nd year FD interest is 3.5% (follow board rate) which is about RM 875 and its paid upfront. If they charge me, i don't mind using that to offset as the benefits of the card is worth it. (Starwood Privillege Card membership is RM 750 a year though they give vouchers to offset & the airmiles exchange is very worth it).

Lesson learn, try to collect card from Maybank Card Center...

Jilaka i asked to send from Gardens Card Center to the maybank branch near my house in USJ, approved last week, until now cannot get my card. Supposed to pay for a big purchase (around 20k) and tot can charge to the card to offset the spending... if cannot get by tmr, have to use other CC to pay di..

Guys, I don't quite understand why you would pledge FD to get this card. What's the pro and con?

Assuming that you meet the minimum annual income required, why pledge FD?
*
I don't meet the minimum annual income, but my spending per month amounts to the minimum spend for waiver due to company expenses which i claim every month end.

Lots of pros if you can meet the minimum spend to qualify for annual fee waiver.

As for FD pledge, that portion was already earmarked for savings anyway, my as well use it to kill 2 birds with one stone. I get 4% interest upfront anyway.

received my principle card from taipan branch on friday.... funny thing is, my supplimentary have to collect from gardens branch on SUNDAY even after i've placed instruction to collect both cards from taipan. Their internal communications really need to improve.

Nice to see that the starwood promo has been extended to 2015.

I just went to the nearest MBB branch apply for MBB2 Premier card. Not sure if I have made the right decision to drop by into branch instead of Card center.

I have a couple of MBB FD which I did last year, 4% FD upfront too. Hopefully they let me use to pledge for this card.
*
Branch also can apply. just that whether they got any incentive to expedite your application. Gardens cardcenter was quite good in the sense they update me on the process (ie, submission of form, eta on approval). Just that if you need to pledge FD, then it's up to the branch to provide their service.

Mbb treatspoints can now be used to redeem asia miles points. 4500 tp to 1000 am points just like enrich.

But looking at the points requirement to redeem flight, it is at least 20 to 40% higher than MAS. They have 3 tiers for redemption & its not guaranteed. The more points u use, the higher chance of getting it.

Eh want to check with you guys.

I am currently holding 2 card platinum with around 73k TP from both card. I just called customer service to cancel the 2 card platinum but they say the TP from the plat card cannot be transferred to premier card due to points difference. Is it true?

How did you guys bypass this? (For those to transferred points from gold or platinum to premier).

Tried again this time calling in to MBB platinum call center. They allow to cancel and transfer points to VI card. Cannot transfer to Amex Reserve (not sure what's the difference anyway).

First time i called was to the premier banking line. They told me cannot transfer at all. Looks like their policy is not consistent.

Anyway, gonna pull the plug on my 2card plat since most of my spending is now on premier. i'm a TP junkie. lol.

Already made a call to Kastam this morning. They said it is wrong for Maybank to charge GST for point redemption. Especially voucher redemption they told me that they can only charge the face value especially vouchers and not including GST. Kastam do not collect points.  Even the person received my call was annoyed. They suggest me to make an official complaint via their website. If you all really want to fight for our right please join in and make complaint. I did my part.

Thanks, will email both authority and Maybank on this.

sent in a complaint on Custom GST e-aduan site. Let's see what they say. If maybank is not allowed to charge GST on the conversion, will they revert back the points charge?
