Need some advice from the pros. I've done some research and i see that the main competitors here for android boxes are Minix, HiMedia and mibox. I've narrowed down to 2 choices which are the neo u1 (better 16gb storage) and mibox pro (better mt8693 a-73 chip and benchmarks).

That said these 2 are based on android OS and not android TV OS. I think that mibox 3c (not pro version) is based on Android TV OS. Are there any advantages of getting the TV OS version over the Android OS? other than the looks and feel that is.

If the advantages of the TV OS makes a difference, i might have to rethink my options.

some weeks ago, some of us reported "rice-fox-goat-wd-global-wind" works only on android 4.4 and 5.1, doesn't work on android 6.

i just tested goat and wind - both work good on android 7.

enjoy... while it lasts! biggrin.gif

My understanding is with TV os...you only get limited "TV" related apps in the play store...you probably can still & will side load the ahem apks so it's not such a big deal...i could be wrong though since I've never really looked TV os up... I'd prefer the normal os thank you...

isn't mibox 3c 1/4gb?

some of us think even mibox 3s 2/8gb hasn't got enough memory.

don't rely on just one.

the key is to have a few of them, use whichever is alive at anytime.

they all die and get resurrected, die again... biggrin.gif

that is correct.

it is the same tv os in smart tv's google androidtv.

the advantages are youtube, netflix will be capable of 4k output.

Yes. That's right. My mistake. It's the 3s which I think has the TV OS

The dolamee D6 is a new Android TV box powered by the quadcore Amlogic S905X that boasts an LED display and an interesting design.

It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features 1GB or 2GB of DDR3 RAM (depending on the model), 8GB of storage, 2.4GHz wifi, 100Mbps Ethernet, and Bluetooth 4.0.

There’s also an LED display that shows status indicators and the time.

The dolamee D6’s design is interesting, reminding me of a chocolate block. It’s won’t make the box perform better but I love when brands come up with original designs.

Inside the box, you’ll get the dolamee D6, IR Remote Control, HDMI Cable, Power Adapter, and an English Manual.

If the TV OS is just advantage YouTube 4k output, I might as well go for Android boxes based on Android OS.

Leaning towards mibox 3 pro now if for Android OS as could probably root and install custom rom in the future (maybe Android TV OS as i saw someone done it at YouTube). The 8gb doesn't really bother me as I will use it mostly for streaming kodi etc...

I'd compare all three together laugh.gif

Make sure it's the white box but I saw some guys responded in the dedicated thread that the recent update removes Google Play. sweat.gif I haven't checked out mine if it's affected for me because supposedly I have removed the auto update.
Anyway back to this box, it's a very basic box with limited storage. I only use it for Astro On-The Go, Kodi and some free IPTVs. Sufficient for these usages.

U try to make use of Unifi Hypptvbox first before doing your first purchase. Make use of Kodi well for its streaming features. I do believe an Airmouse would be handy or just use a Bluetooth mouse if you don't have an Airmouse.

After u get used to Kodi, then u may proceed with other tvbox which will suit your needs like bigger memory and etc
