G501JW is more expensive since its ultra slim gaming notebook with dual fans cooling.
New Y50 is using FHD TN display panel, wish they don't use the budget TN panel like the old model.
Y50 in US all using IPS FHD panel, China and MY still using TN FHD panel.
New Y50 lower their retail price might be due to competition from Acer V nitro and other.
The new ROG is using IPS panel ? Lenovo thread said the refreshed model should be using a better TN panel. So I assume it will be like normal TN panel quality which is fine. Besides that, I believe dual channel 16gb cost > IPS New Y50 is using FHD TN display panel, wish they don't use the budget TN panel like the old model.

panel.
Y50 is also using dual fan cooling. Thickness wise, isn't both also 20mm+- ? It is almost about the same thickness
But storage wise, I think Y50 lose cause there is only 1 storage option. No mSata or m2 slot.
If slim is an option, I think HP Omen is also quite good. Its built quality is really as of premium class. I tested it out, the casing and design is really of premium level. Doesn't feel like consumer grade laptop. (The price is also ridiculously overpriced
