for cars with existing manufacturer tint (security tint) should we just add on another layer
*
Factory tint usually comes with low heat rejection ,Yes add another layer for better heat rejection, most tint shop dont provide warranty if add on 1 layer. New car recommend to double tint, I can give you 5 years warranty for double layer tint on existing film. Most importantly are workmanship/service during or after tint in coming years. biggrin.gif

Hi sifus, just recently pick up my Tesla Model 3. Tesla officially refers us to their 3M partner for below package :

- Front Windscreen : Crystalline CR 90
- Front Windows : Crystalline CR 70
- Rest of Car (Rear Windows, Rear Windscreen, Sunroof) : Color Stable CS 35

Priced at RM2,550.00. Is this a good combinations and is it worth the price tag?

I can feel the heat during sunny day drive, I believe it's mostly from the side windows. The sunroof I feel the original tint is pretty ok, at least not that hot unless you touch it under hot sunny day.
*
The package above are low specs, Better take 3M Crystalline full car .Cr90 only 95% IRR in spec sheet compare to CR70 97% IRR. Also color stable CS tint already discontinued in Malaysia Market, so claim warranty at Tesla only . Cant claim color stable from 3M authorise dealer due to discontinued no stock.

3M Color stable replaced to 3M Ceramic IR (better heat rejection) now. thumbsup.gif

The problem is, the staff wants to be fast, do everything fast, with no quality even with experience. Lucky for me after went out for a while I returned to see the installation. My Rear window tint has been removed. But it seems that they give no F about your car and just rip it off instead of using heat and slowly removing it, causing my rear heater to bye-bye.
*
Wah...this is what I fear most when removing tint therefore I always emphasize don't skim on good quality tint especially for rear windscreen. Many ppl use cheaper tint for the rear as long as it is dark and not thinking about its durability.

Using a good tint also means it can more likely last longer before wearing out and the adhesive quality is better, so when removing, hopefully it will not tear off the demister due to adhesive quality. Then the workmanship is the utmost important when tearing.

I just re-tinted my 2 very old cars earlier this year (18 years and 16 years old respectively) and removed the existing VKool at Irispro Klang. Keep reminding them, please be very careful with my demister and try their best not to damage it. Monitored their removal process personally. They very carefully and slowly remove the tint with heat gun. Can see their attempt to slowly and carefully peel the tint at each demister line. I tot old cars with almost 2 decade old tint, the demister stick to the tint liao. So glad everything turned out fine for both old cars and demister still worked well after re-tinting.

Hi everyone,

Considering to change windscreen and install 3M crystalline around KL area.. anyone have recent experience with the 3M Authorized Applicator like OnePro Tint in Kuchai Lama or 3M Autofilm Concept in Maluri/Cheras? Asking more about installation quality, any bubbles etc + aftersales service if any issues? Thanks!

Just wanted to share my experience w/ 3m crystalline 70, installed on my new car back in 2017. on the 5th time I wanted to change out the road tax sticker, it peeled. just the shape of the road tax. So disappointed cos so fragile. But luckily it was before 5 year warranty expired, a day or two prior. So got it claimed, reinstalled new, so new heat rejection. dry.gif warranty is good

just notice my Raytech car tint warranty card stated that "Rear windscreen heater no warranty". Is it normal to Raytech? 3M and Vkool also has same warranty terms?

Although it might not be mentioned elsewhere, tints normally does not warranty heat demisters of cars unless you negotiated in advance. Even if stated on my warranty, I will dismissed it as it is sort of like taken for granted heat demister working is on our own cost.

Normally installing would not cause any issue BUT removing tints (under or after warranty) might damage the demister. Normally makan sendiri when that happened, either change the RWS on your own or just live with no heat working heat demister.

sorry. i am a bit confusing. My Raytech car tint has bubble at the rear windscreen now.

Is "Rear windscreen heater no warranty" referring to the heat demister or the rear windscreen tint?

Heat demister. Tint is under warranty, they will remove the tint and replace if bubble within warranty period. They just can't garantee if the demister will be damage when removing the tint thus inclusion of the term there.

My last car need to remove the tint for name change, and i paid rm50 for tint removal at one nearby tint shop. Brothers shop asking for rm150 back then. The rm50 done properly and carefully for the rear windscreen and surprisingly the heat demister is still good in place and function. Just find shop that confidence to tear that tint off.

Raytech tint warranty minimum 5 years. Go back to change it off coz rarely not even 1 year old bubble for good tints.

Depend on condition of the tint and what caused the tint to have bubbles in the 1st place. If the bubbles happened due to defective material or poor workmanship then most likely you can claim for replacement tint. However if the bubbles are around the heat demister lines, most likely the dealer will reject your claim based on the ground that it is user's own mistake that caused the damage/bubbles to the tint.

General info - the rear heat demister lines will damage the tint and cause bubbles if you turn it on for too long or forget to turn it off. Many are not aware.

I believe most if not all reputable installers WILL replace any tints with bubble under warranty for rear windscreen under tint warranty regardless of where the bubble appear unless it is proven with intentional damage. If the tint are unable to withstand heat demister, they may as well forget about their tint reputation. What they would not take responsibility is heat demister damage when removing tints.

Klang Valley area

My 3M Crystalline 70 has the 3M logo that cannot be wiped off with Isopropyl alcohol even at 90% concentration. The dealer said the logo will gradually fade within a few months from repeated wiping/cleaning which is a bit sus, because with almost all the video I've seen the logo can be removed immediately.

That said, the rainbow effect when the windows are sprayed with water seem to be present. Did I just got conned and installed a fake 3M tint?

P.S. RM2800 for Civic

i have CR70 on the windscreen. back then, the installer asked me which 3M logo to remove and remain. the logo was removed easily by using a cleaner (probably alcohol). Installed at B1.

did you receive the 3M digital certificate?

I did received the eWarranty from an @mmm address 3 months after the installation, however there are a few spelling errors (WarrantRy, bristle bushes instead of bristle brushes).

What made the whole thing especially annoying was I specifically instructed the installer that I didn't want any logos on the tint, and the front windscreen logos are right in front of my eye line.

I emailed 3M a week ago and the only reply I got so far was "we will revert as soon as possible"

I went a few shops to survey and interested on one no brand with Nano Ceramic/ Sputtering, IR 98%, UV 100%, 7 years warranty for RM588.
My concern is about visibility, reflection, distortion. I want to get the darkest possible without affecting my drive and view.
I plan to get around 50% VLT for all front and back windows. What do you think? Anything else I have to know? Thanks in advance for your help.
